I think what the OP was suggesting is that if someone was a known tanker, a way of punishing that player would be to use the highest league score ever obtained by that tanker instead of their current score. This way once a person becomes a tanker, they will face the toughest opponents.
That said, this is a guess. Also the mention of teams worries me. Does the OP assume people tank in groups or would 1 tanker screw a whole squad.

I think he's saying that matchmaking would put together a group of tankers on one team vs a team of non-tankers. Then the tankers can just get beat up on repeatedly until they learn their lesson I guess.

Hmmmmmm, Pix could fix the tanking issue. I am sure they could. But what did this update do. Made it way easier. What is it -22 for a loss and + 2 for a win. They are not morons.

Remember that tankers want to fight the easiest opponents. Pitting them against the best players would cause them to quit and it would not be fun for the top tier players who are forced to beat up tankers when they could be having fun and competitive games.

Hmmmmmm, Pix could fix the tanking issue. I am sure they could. But what did this update do. Made it way easier. What is it -22 for a loss and + 2 for a win. They are not morons. Um... Actually according to the dev blog on the league updates: "Long version: yes. People in leaver queue will start receiving less XP, silver and gold. Much less — up until there will be no benefit in intentional match tanking. People marked as tankers will also stop receiving and losing league points up until they properly finish certain amount of matches and get out of their special territory. We’re also excluding people who have not yet reached level 15 out of the tanker queue. Such players usually turned into easy prey for seasoned leavers, so it makes a lot of sense to give newbies some penalty-free time to adapt." So even if tank is easier, those in the tanking queue will see far less reward and less incentive to tank.

Actually I think the new tweak to MM lends itself more to fading over pure tanking. The last several days I''ve seen more faders than I have tankers. I mean level 30's with 8/8 and up barely cracking 50k damage.

...there is silver and gold to be gained bt tanking. It's that simple, folks.
Again, I suggest no silver or gold rewards for players who drop a certain, to be determined amount from their highest league ranking. I was thinking more than one full league rank. If, for example, a player whose max ranking was Expert 1 would get zero silver or gold if he were to drop below Diamond 1. Once he returned to Diamond 1 rewards would continue.
The drop could be figured out, but that would work to end tanking I believe. No need for LQ and all that mess. Only those who get their kicks whipping on the little guys would continue, they just wouldn't profit from it anymore.

There are a lot of flaws with this system.
Too punishing and no exact way to tell if someone is a legit tanker.
We had a guy complain the other day about losing 20 games in a row. Maybe that person would be flagged as a tanker. Imagine your frustration as that player and how much you'd feel wronged.
You're giving some people free wins by matching them against tankers. If anything you should have said to match tankers against tankers. Tankers want to lose! So why help them?
IMO only way to discourage it is to MM based on hanger instead. ELO is typically better for ladder IMO but not for a game that is team based and has item levels.
Enough people complain about ELO when it's 1v1; having teams will only make the problems way worse.

Simply to highlights something. with or without tankers along with consideration for other things like skills, bots, weapons, ...... the MM will ensure that you will have a long term 50/50 win loss rate. So just play the game and enjoy blowing those reds up. I know it's challenging to do this at times bc yours truly gets really frustrated many times for various reasons but at the end of the day it is just a mobile game. Take what ever you want out of the game.

People can lose deliberately without leaving the game or going AFK. All they need to do is play normally, go for kills and damage but not beacons. Been seeing a number of that lately, people not capping even if they are close to the beacon.
