Kidding aside, I can't wait for custom games... I have already suggested to dredd a "fight the mods day" with level 1 bots and weapons only.

Pixonic felt that tanking was being penalized recently, so they had to rebalance the system to solve the slow tanking issues.

Ok, its cute, but really? You loose the same amount of points in 4 games that you did in 5 games ---- it honestly isn't that big of a change. 

Well yeah, it's also a tankers (by which I mean those, who enter matches hoping the blues lose, and take what ever steps to help it happen) paradise. It remains to be seen if that is good or bad, but it probably won't be good...

So this is a somewhat legit complaint that you are somewhat right in having when looking at any individual game... however when you look at the system as a WHOLE the way things were quickly breaks down.

Lets look at some "bad actors" in the system, bad because they have a negative impact on the functioning of the WHOLE not just the part. 

In the old points distribution you could maintain your league score by getting top damage every game with a 40% win rate. There were a large number of ways to do this. Ignore beacons, Have a poor hanger (high level but outside the meta), Have poor hanger diversity (2 snipers, a mid...), Actually be somewhat terrible.... Im sure you can think of more but you get the point. 

The issue is that these players were forming a league points dam of sorts that was preventing, or limiting or down right blocking other players from advancing till they had much better gear or a much higher win rate. Because of how gold is distributed, there was a reward for this sort of behavior as well (hey everyone likes gold). When pix said "people weren't advancing" to paraphrase, they weren't kidding.... because there were clusters of mis-aligned players blocking them. 

By switching to "damage" as the only filter (not damage and winning) you can move these players UP through the system, and create some open space for others to advance.... 

I know what the next argument is already! But people are going to focus on damage, and ignore beacons.... And I have a few responses to that:

There are already lots of players who do this.... by choice by poor hanger selection... there are tons of reasons that folks ignore beacons, and capping hangers were the thing that was propping them up. 

Are more players going to focus on damage over beacons? Maybe -- but they are one kind of bad actor and we have another bad actor in the system that makes this behavior more desirable. 

Before the last event I could pretty much say "5v6 has a 20% chance of pulling out a win. Post event, 5v6 is close enough to zero to call it that. The distinction is that players caught on that "if I'm going to loose I might as well drop and pull another game" so 5v6 would cause someone (or more than one) to choose to fade, or drop as well quickly reducing the chances of pulling out a win. 

So the bad actor of "damage over beacons" is one who is likely to stay in a 5v6... and you too now have the opportunity NOT to be punished for someone elses behavior (the original dropper) or not punished as badly as before...  I expect that we will be back to that same 20% chance of winning those 5v6 matches soon. 

Because players are much more mobile, pix should be able to tighten up the ranges of players it will put together in any given match... rather than "all of gold" being a pool they might get down to throwing two levels of players together in a match (gold III and silver I... or gold II and gold III) --- and this would be "better" because your no longer trying to free players from those who are forming those dams to advancement. 

Ultimately you are asking about "tankers" --- well pix seems to get that they need to make punishments for them "more harsh" that they should not get rewards... once they start driving people OUT of that queue, I assume that they will spin some of those knobs and dials and make it much easier to get in there as well. This catches the egregious offenders, but again our 40% win rate player isn't clubbing seals, he's eating sharks just a bit smaller than himself, and doing it for most of his wins, while screwing up the system with his pervasive losses. The argument could be made, that this player is more harmful as they are harder than most to pick out in a crowed....

I suggested two groups of people were being "punished" players who were on the wrong side of 5v6's (league points loss for factors out of their control) and tankers who are shoved in the tanker queue to get fewer rewards (now? at some future date?).... 

No where did I say that pix is punishing damage dealers by raising them up.... 

This is even more interesting:

Lets assume that you "remove" the players who are consistently high damage from the system (by promoting them)... Now you have the opportunity to end up in those top spots win or loss, but you still have an equal chance of finishing dead last win or loss --- your going to settle into a range of league points (200 or so) and stay there, with some deviation. 

Over a long enough time (assuming hangers and skill were frozen for everyone) your games would be 50/50 and your chance of a given finish spot would be 1/12 (or 1/6 depending on how you want to count finishes, however these are the same). Because the system isn't static, and there are tons of outside variables this isn't going to be the actual case, but your points should remain in the same range. 

Tankers, droppers, disconnctors, people who put the game down to have a life, should have a lower impact to your league score and you should be able to better maintain your level of play. 

I'm a Capper, and I'm not all that fussed about my league position - I play for fun.

So, basically, you're too skilled for your weak hangar... lol... that sounds like a personal problem, not a league problem. Upgrade your subpar hangar.

Well I am a relative noob, and while only playing the new league a few days I like it, a lot more than the old one.

I am probably not playing well for the ‘optimal’ rewards, but I have been trying my best to win. Isn’t that the point? I get beacons and try my damnedest to hold them, then move on to the next.
While I was not over concerned about what league I was in, I don’t like losing and certainly didn’t like falling back down in league tables. The MM sends me on roller-coaster of wins and losses and under the old system league points when up and down like a yoyo.

Now I maintain or increase league points when loosing if I play well but loose anyway. The MM is currently kicking my 「bum-bum」, but I am still moving up the league score regardless. Often getting 10 league points in a loss, more than I have gotten in some wins. So even when a match is clearly going to be lost I certainly have an incentive to fight it out until the bitter end.

Now I know you might say that league points are no reward, they are only going to move you into a bigger shark tank and make life harder all around, having to level up to stay completive while getting a reduced haul of coinage? But isn’t that the point? Get better, get a bigger gun, try harder?

Capping beacons wins games. I see nothing to cry about.
