I figured I should post a little about myself since I've been spending so much time here.
My name is Drew. I'm from Pennsylvania. I'm not really a huge gamer but I've been sucked into War Robots almost completely. When I'm not playing War Robots I can be found along the many local creeks and rivers catching trout with a fly rod. Sometimes I take my dog. He isn't that good at catching fish but he loves to swim. I tie my own flies. Every fish I caught this year was on a fly I tied.
I really love being outside doing almost anything. Playing with my dog, hiking in the forest, shooting guns with my neighbors, just sitting in the sun...
I was in a car crash a while ago. It sort of ruined me and I can't tolerate nearly as much physical activity as I used to. It's so cold here now the fly line freezes to the guides in the rod so fishing is canceled until spring. And that gives me a lot of time to play War Robots.
I started playing War Robots in either late September or early October. I'm not really sure. I didn't know anything, leveled my Griffins too fast and ended up in what I later found out would be gold tier where I got slapped silly over and over and over. I learned a little about tiers from the wiki and set up a silver hangar with using Boa, Patton, and Golem.
Eventually I was interested in clans and sent requests to a few. The first was a group of people who only spoke Spanish. I left after a day or two due to the language difference. The next one was Russians. I'm not even sure why they accepted me. They are a gold tier clan and I was a silver tier player. They laughed at me, my hangars, and my noob play. I can take some humor but they were just mean about it. The next day they kicked me.
Sometime after that a clan named DIRTBAGS [DRTY] sent me an invitation. At that time they were about a 150ish ranked clan. A couple weeks later we had broken into the top 100 hovering in the low 90s to high 80s peaking in the 70s.
The clan leader and co founder decided he wanted a break. Instead of transferring leadership he disbanded the clan. Many members of DRTY had been in another clan or two with members of steelforge. They were still squading together, talking on line, friends on facebook, etc... I had squaded with and talked to some of the sf guys by then. I sent a request to join sf, honestly thinking I would be rejected because I wasn't good enough. To my surprise they accepted it. At that point, sf was ranked 5th I believe. I was the first former DRTY member to join sf. I got the last roster spot at that time. As spots opened more DRTY members were invited. Currently there are about 10 or 12 of us in sf. Most of the others went to a new clan called melter_dynamics.
During the Halloween event everyone was grinding hard and donating all their pumpkins to the clan. We opened 4 more spots to which more DRTY pilots were invited to sf.
Between November and now we steadily climbed the leader board until recently taking over 1st. And that is how I ended up with the number 1 ranked clan in less than 3 months.
Any Questions?
