Hello all,
I just got out of a game running my "Zeuchtze," such a derpy bot, but so much jank and fun, kinda wish you could post emotes in game, like "「whiskey tango foxtrot」" and "haha," just so I could see peoples' reactions to that setup. If you feel like something not serious at all, I truly recommend running a Schutze, with literally anything, the most fun I have had with a light bot.
Now, onto the topic. I was playing with my Schutze, and actually missed the old design of the bot. For the German bots, I really liked the sharp edges and flat surfaces on the legs and turret, and was wondering what other people thought of the newer bot redesign. In all honesty, the Schutze turret REALLY bothers me, and I REALLY don't like the bulky legs. The "cockpit" thing that juts out in the middle looks awkward, and I really liked the sunken cockpit in the old design. I like the legs and the turret with the sharp and flat sides better, they made it feel more like a "chicken walker" rather than some "Pacific Rim" design with the thick muscle-looking leg detail. It felt more machine back then than it does now, which is a real bummer. These are war robots, with their own rustic aesthetic, not "Pacific Rim"/"Gundam" style bots. While the Wild West bots do look more humanoid in their legs, that style matches their aesthetic, while the German bots have a more rigid, old-fashioned flat-edge style, which I prefer.
On the contrary I REALLY like what Pix did with the Rogatka, I LOVE the cockpit design and the sleekness in the legs, and THOSE legs don't look human, they look machine, which is great! Now, there are some that would argue that the old cockpit design was fantastic in that it looked like a sea plane, which is cool, but the sleekness of the new design added a menace to the bot that I can respect. Notice, I said "sleekness" and not bubbliness, which is how I feel the Schutze feels now, is too round and bubbly and weirdly humanoid; and I can't really respect that in a "war machine."
What are other peoples' thoughts? What other bots did you not like the redesign of/preferred the older version of? OR, which redesigns DID you like?
