Hi! I just joined this forum today! I have been so impressed with the amount of knowledge and experience actively shared here, I thought I'd give it a shot. I have been playing this game several months off and on again. Only recently, I came across this site to realize how clueless I have been playing. After some reading on the wiki site and this forum I gather I have been playing at a high level gold tier for quite some time and so no wonder I have been having a harder time at it. So far, I have learned how I have probably improperly spent precious Au, Ag and WSP and why it has become so much harder to collect, compared to when I first started. I mindlessly just followed the in-app recommended upgrades for the most part, having no idea how much harder I made it for myself. Anyway, I see how helpful the members are here to newcomers. I'm hoping I can get some of that advice… My end goal is to eventually get back to be more competitive at a Gold Level, built on what I have so far. I am looking for advice on the most efficient way to get there (salvage what bots/weapons I can, sell back others that I have taken too far or no longer viable). I have come to the realization I may be better off to build up a new hanger to amass the amount of Ag/Au needed to continue leveling the higher weapons/bots in the background to get them back to compete at Gold Tier. My original hanger: Stalker.12|mag.10 Galahad.9|Taran.10/mag.10/mag.10 Boa.10|Thunder.10/Taran.10 Griffin.10|Tulu.10/Tulu.10/CRV.10/CRV.10 Rhino.10|Orkan.10/Orkan.9/Pinata.10/Pinata.10 I also have the following I change in/out: Carnage.10|Thunder.10/Thunder.9 Leo.10|Trident.7/CRV.10/CRV.9/CRV.9 (replaced a Trebuchet.11 with the Trident a couple of weeks ago) Collecting dust: Natasha/10:Zenit/9.Zenit/9, Cossack/10, Golem/8, Schutze/9, Destrier/8 I've been around 50%-60% win rate with this hanger. Seldom finish capture enough beacons or inflict enough damage to capture gold. My Clan not the most active. My initial thought was to get back to be able to collect Au/Ag at a quicker pace than I am now. So, I quickly started working on a Bronze Tier Hanger about 3 days ago. Still working on that now: Cossack.2|Taran.6 (currently upgrading to 7) Schutze.2|Thunder.7 Boa.3|Thunder.6/Taran.5 Boa.2|Thunder.6/Orkan.5 Patton.2|Pinata.5/Pinata.5/Pinata.5/Pinata.5 Other bronze tier bots I added and swap in/out: Golem.2|Thunder.5/Taran.5/Magnum.6 Rhino.1|Tulu.5/Tulu.5/CRV.5 (Now wonder if I may have jumped the gun on this purchase) Vityaz.2|Trident.7/CRV.5/CRV.5 (This is the same Trident I reused from the Leo) I went with this setup with the end goal of getting the weapons for adding more DB, RDB and PDB bot build options. Advice on Tiers: Do I stay at Bronze Tier? Or is there opportunity for farming more Ag at silver or low gold tiers (as long as I level up the right way this time)? ;-) Another Carnage?: I have about 35K WSP left, I want to spend it wisely. I was thinking at some point adding another Trident. But add it to what? Eventually purchase another Carnage to use at lower tiers, since my current one is already at level 10? A single Trident on a Vityaz is okay, but I haven't been that impressed with it. I can see two Tridents on a Carnage would be much more effective. However, I question is it worth getting another Carnage to leave at a lower tier (silver/low gold)? Gareth? Also, saw the Play Smarter video by acethunder. war-robots-forum.freeforums.net/thread/630/play-smarter-updated-2Now I want to get Gareth! But is it worth it? How far into Gold Tier can it go? Thanks for assisting in my rebuilding project!

You've already implemented the vast majority of advice I could give you. You are also following the same path I took on my Android account, so I totally feel your pain. It took some 4 months to get my upgrade flow fixed so that I could compete in "trash-gold" and high silver tiers, all thanks to friendly clan members' advice and studying the 「dookie」 out of the Wikia and forum here. The majority of that was done by gold farming, a contentious and controversial topic to say the least. But it's what you need to fix your top bots, because the bots themselves are just fine. It's having your weapon levels below your bot levels that gets you messed up, so you'll need copious amounts of silver for the upgrades at the least. Now just about everybody will tell you not to do this next bit, buuuuuut, I used gold gained from farming to fast-forward many of the gun upgrades, saving about half the time on a rough estimate. Yeah, that means it likely would have taken me more than 7 months, but that came about because Pixonic nerfed the upgrade times.

I have to confess, this has been a bitter sweet experience so far. Although, it kinda stinks to have to start over, it has also created a renewed interest and enjoyment to the game. I have certainly has been incredibly more successful utilizing the upgrade path approach recommended here, what has been more fun is learning and putting into practice the tidbit of knowledge on how to best strategically utilize each type of bot build. I was not as conscience about how to work with each bot. But now with an actual gameplan on how to work with each bot, that has taken my gameplay to a whole new level. I'm still learning and a work in progress, but this getting really fun now. And I'm pretty much doing this solo, without a clan that I can go into battle with. I am a member of a clan now, but they are mostly Gold hangers which I currently no longer belong in right now.
I hope to get my hanger towards a solid Bronze Tier, before moving up to silver. By then I expect to also have improved my skills and, just as important, my battle tactics.

The long term plan is to eventually revive my messed up gold hanger, while on my way there work through a solid bronze hanger, move up to a sliver then join a sliver clan to learn the other facets of the game with.
Here is my hanger now. I have been pretty consistent going into battle between these three slots: Cossack.2|Taran.7 Boa.3|Thunder.6/Taran.6 Boa.3|Thunder.6/Orkan.5
For the other two slots, I have been feeling my way through the following for bots: Patton.2|Pinata.5/Pinata.5/Pinata.5/Pinata.5 Schutze.2|Thunder.7 Vityaz.2|Trident.7/CRV.5/CRV.5 Golem.2|Thunder.5/Taran.5/Magnum.6
I'm struggling on which last two slots I should be moving forward with at the moment. Also, according to the upgrade guide, I could add another Orkan. I have accumalated enough gold for that now. Should I purchase that now and apply it to what?
Any suggestions on next steps?

Knife-fighters only? No mid-range bots?

Trident 7... that's a good one ^_^ If it were any lower in level I would suggest replacing it with a Zeus to match the range of your CRV Pins.
Yes, you should get an Orkan =/ even if you don't have a spot to use it in your current hanger, you'll need a few of them later on for the meta setups used in higher tiers.

zeno - wouldn't the Vityaz be considered mid-range? Or are you suggesting I should have another mid? Maybe the Golem change to a mid? I have a couple of tulus on a lvl1 Rhino sitting in storage I can move to the Golem. @daemon - Yes. That would make it my fourth Orkan which should set me up for the higher tiers. Aside from the one I have on one of my Boa's, I have two others: level 10/level 9.

Actually, I didn't see the Vit. Sorry... Trident is very effektive, paired with Pins. I use that, too. But on a Golem, with a Tulumbas. I love it. Maybe you can give it a try... Might exchange your Vityaz.

I like that Zeno. I will try Golem with Trident/Tulu/Pin. Thanks.

That Golem setup is the one I used until I got my Trident Carney setup ready... all the way up to high silver and trash gold... It's a good platform...
@daemonlillith - The Zeus and the Trident are the same ranges... 600m. CRVs are 500m. Not exactly the same ranges, but close enough to be dang good midrange setup, nonetheless. But yes, Zeus works just as well or better in Silver, due to the lack of so many shield bots... however, it cost Au... so... *shrugs*

I bought my 4th Orkan. Not added to any bot yet, but ready for use. so checked that off the checklist. I'm now upgrading the Orkan on the Cossack to level 7. I understand the common or 'safe' level recommendation for Bronze Tier is to go 4/6 med and 4/9 lights. Then I found what moody had to say with his experience with running 3/8 medium at high bronze: war-robots-forum.freeforums.net/thread/141/general-advice-direction?page=6&scrollTo=14341. What I like about this approach is being able to create more damage while forcing one to play 'smarter'. Any reason I should not do this? I am now looking for advice on how to progress next, once I reach limits of this tier. I have heard about about players having multiple hangers -- some by tier, some by bot type, etc. I was thinking if I should look at doing this next? Or just continue to upgrade current weapons/bots to move up to silver? The decision I'm grappling with is: 1) Continue to move up to sliver tier sooner with current bots/weapons and take a hit in Au/Ag accumulation for a bit, or 2) Stay at Bronze to build up another bronze tier hanger set so this will leave me with a competitively working hanger while upgrading the other to sliver tier. Meanwhile I also thought about the mags that I have purchased I need to work on. I was thinking of purchasing another patton to add the plasmas to it. I also have an all pinata patton. I need to work on upgrading these weapons since these will eventually go towards future DB, PDB Griffins/Rhinos. Or do I just buy more griffins/Rhinos, add the weapons then upgrade in the background? Thoughts? Advice?

I haven't gotten it yet, since I understand I am a little ways away until I can add a Carnage. I'm still not over the fact that I already have a lvl10 Carnage in storage and will have to buy another one to use in the lower tiers

Oh geez... yeah Level 10 is great for some High Gold action... but yeah too high for High Silver and Trash Gold.
For comparison: I run a 6/8.5 heavy hanger... Highest bot is level 6 Lance with either all 8s or 8/8/9, or a similar Rhino, or Griffs, etc., depending on the rest of the hanger.
I run a level 6 Carney with 9/8 tridents or 8/8 thunders and it is perfectly suited to that. I can't wait to get to bot level 9 and weapon level 11 to utilize the top base speed of the bot... but I am happy enough with it at 6/8 compared to my normal solo match-ups. I would love an un-upgrade option (they wouldn't even have to refund me for the levels... I just think that having to buy a whole new bot with WSP is torture after the workshop stops giving bonuses).

Checking in with my progress so far... I am currently in Last Stand. After reading Muhlakai's Brickfighting post (http://war-robots-forum.freeforums.net/thread/1312/brickfighting-guide-using-boas-Last Stand) I am going to swap out the Patton for a 3/9 Boa Thunder/Orkan. My gold hangar now looks like this after swapping some weapons around to outfit my Last Stand hangar... Since I have most of my weapons up to level 8, I believe I am coming to a point to start planning and building for the next move up to HS. So I am seeking advice here. I have also recently accumulated 5k Au. I don't want to keep leveling weapons of my current Last Stand hangar at the moment as I plan my HS hangers that I eventually want to complement/improve my gold hangar with. I have a Gareth I drew from the christmas snowflake event, but don't know if there is really a place for it moving up. I wonder if I sell it would I get gold for it? My initial thought is to purchase a Fury with the 5k Au, buy two more Tridents and start leveling them up. I have another L1 Rhino in storage (a haste purchase I made a few months ago). My thought is, purchase a griffin and start a HS hangar with: 5/9/9 Boa/Thunder/Orkan (or 5/10/10 if i can keep it in HS) 5/9/9 Boa/Thunder/Taran (or 5/10/10 if I can keep it in HS) 6/8/8/8/8 Griffin PDB 6/8/8/8/8 Rhino DB (or Hellfire) 6/8/8/8 Fury Trident Eventually, once I earn enough Au again, I may go for another Galahad or maybe Lance (if I'm patient enough to wait to collect another 5k Au). Thoughts? Advice?
