(Android) [Dom] DOOM Clan Thread

Well, about 30? I think...

It is with considerable reluctance that I post this. As many of you know, our leader at DOOM seemed to be one that led by unexplained decree and not by example. He (or she) rarely communicated to us, did not seem to listen, and even set a requirement that they did not meet themselves. They played the game so rarely that I found it hard to believe they could know how to tell a good player from a bad one.

Realize that I fully understood that it is of questionable practice to “poach” players from another clan. The reason I saw this case differently is because this views a clan as something that belongs to the leader. DOOM was as much our clan and my clan as the leader’s clan. Furthermore, if this leader really cared about their “ownership,” I would have expected them to behave very differently. I would have expected them to lead, if not by example, at least by clear orders. Officers were promoted without being notified and without any direction on how to carry about their duties. As such, the decisions to invite, dismiss, and deny/grant requests seemed to have no coherency whatsoever.

Even a leader that leads by delegating should, at the very least, support those who have shown a willingness to step into the void and try to improve the clan. I had not seen any such efforts supported. When numerous players are kicked out for no reason, and questions about it are posted openly on the clan board, I would expect a true leader to at least look into the issue. Instead, we got nothing. No answers. No explanations. In essence, what we had was a leader who has abdicated their duty. We have even tried asking them to transfer leadership and asking Pixonic to transfer it for us, but to no avail. As such, I declare that they have no right of ownership to assert, and that we are within our rights to do what we can to take control back.

So, after months of trying to improve DOOM and getting nowhere, I have decided instead to start a new clan. I did so with reluctance because I believe there are many of you who are far better players of this game than I am, but since more than one of you specifically asked and encouraged me to do it over the past couple of months, I decided to take a hint.

In regards to the gold, I have enough from the event and consider the benefit to be well worth the cost. I feel bad that many of you joined a clan because of me and then it turned out this way. As I’ve written on this board before, I believe the theme of this game is about rewarding patience, and so I’d better be willing to put up my Gold to back up the ink from my pen.

I fully intend to be a leader who communicates clearly and who listens and makes the utmost effort to make fair decisions that will allow this clan and its players to have the tools and freedom to be the best that it can be. It was with this goal in mind that I chose to hold an election to decide upon a clan name (via Approval Voting). As many of you already know, we have chosen the name of the new clan to be Aurora Nova, which is Latin for “new dawn”.

My apologies for getting this wrong, but it was actually Trogon who nominated the new name. Sorry again, and thank you again for the new kick-「bum-bum」 name!

It is indeed a new dawn for us as a new clan, but also for this game. I expect it to be a climate that will greatly reward creative thinkers who can innovate and communicate. If you are willing to join me, I would be honored to serve.

And I should mention again that Trogon was actually the one who came up with the new name. Sorry for getting that wrong the first time!
