Hello, from the ProBoards features list: I see, spammers can post multiple new threads in a minute. Why don't you increase the flood control to 2 minutes ? It would slow down the spam bots and i think the members here, would not feel annoyed, that a new thread can only be created every 2 minutes !? Maybe 3 minutes would be ok too ? And is there an option to create a custom question + answer as captcha for registering an account ? I created such a custom Q+A on one of my sites and the spam stopped for a whole year, until someone has fed his bot manually with my Q+A, so i just changed it to a new one and no more spam again One example q uestion could be: How many hardpoints does a Griffin have ... etc Kind regards, psyflex

Well.. Proboards controls the logins (for the most part), I have yet to find where it allows the mod/admin team to add captchas
And Flood Control, our mod/admin team can't change it, its up to ProBoards' devs to edit. For now, we have a team of VSTFs to help around with cleaning the spam

Oh i see... Well, that's the downside of using a hosted board, too less control about everything. ReCaptcha isn't stopping bots at all, with all the paid anti-captcha services around... Guess we'll have to live with the occassionally spam attacks then I wonder why ProBoards didn't integrate a honey trap for the bots then, should keep a good amount of bots out.

Well, our mod/admin team are normal players (we aren't paid for/employees of Pixonic), we're students/adults with jobs/families to take care of. We can't afford to throw around $300 for vBulletin forum software (or any other paid forum software), and then pay the yearly web hosting fees. So instead, we just use this forum. It's free (the ads are not controlled by us). But since we can't control some parts of the forum, we do our best to control what we can. Spambots attacking? We created the VSTFs (idea borrowed from Wikia) member group.
