Yes, save up for that 5th beacon, that way, you'll have won each match before it even starts.
Er... I mean... 5th slot first. And while Spirals are fun, the experience in using them isn't worth much. I'd recommend at least trying the Pinatas on the Patton once in a while, and perhaps CRV Pins too. Both can be a bit tricky.
I've never tried the Gareth nor the Gepard (because of how low they are prioritized on Strayed's Gold Purchase guide -- see that first reply to your post), so I can't comment on those. My impression is that neither is a good long-term purchase because both are rather ineffective at the higher tiers (although I think Ace Thunder uses the Gareth quite effectively there).
But in general, slots are worth more than beacons... I mean weapons and bots.

Yeah went up against a Pinata Patton and was killed near instantly. If I'm going to go Pinata Patton though I think I'll drop the other Boa and load up the Tulum-Pin Golem. I need something to do damage from beyond 500m in certain situations.
Ok I'll try the Patton.

New question. I have 1600 gold collected from the Christmas thing. Current hangar is 4/6/6 TT Boa 4/6/6 TO Boa 4/6/6/6/6 Spiral Pat 4/6 Taran Cossack. I have a 4/5/5/5 KwM TuluCRV Golem sitting in the fridge, as well as a 4 Vityaz. Got a number of level 5 Pinatas as well. Do I buy a Gareth/Gep? Or save up for the 5th slot? 5th spot first for sure, it sucks to wait but when you have it, even filling it with just a AG setup will be mpre beneficial than an Au bot with 4 slots. Being able to be a player that can last a mech out fight is huge. And 5 slots allows you to tailor your hangar for more situation. Gareth is a also a great purchase but after a 5th spot. Gareth is perfect anti stalker and capper. And in a medium or heavy hangar he can be lvl ed higher and stronger weapons. My 8/10 Gareth slices through mediums and griffs like butter for a small bot. 5th first tho, trust. Also since going pinata patton would leave you with no midrange (1 midrange is important) ide say go CRV pin patton. Against mediums and griffs in silver, they HURT. And since pat is squishy, he lasts alot longer staying at 500m. Excels on SF Canyon, Yam and Shen, I loved my CRV pat when I was running em.

Yeah, sounds good.
Some folks prefer leaving out midrange with only four slots and skip all Springfield and Yamantau matches, but I don't like skipping maps because there aren't enough maps as it is.

Hmm, would a CRV Patton be better than a Rocket Golem?

Scratch the above question.
Now I'm running:
4/6/6 TT Boa 4/6/6 TO Boa 4/7/6/5 Tulum-Pin-Trident Golem 4/6 Taran Cossack
I'm currently upgrading the Cossack to 4/7.
Would it be a good idea to invest in a Leo to replace the TO Boa? Or would a Griffin be a better choice?

I would suggest holding off on any heavy bot until you're at 4/8 (or at the very least, 4/7). I think 4/6 is a bit of a sweet spot that you may want to stick around for a bit, accumulating gold.
I think Griffins are far better than Leos. A bit trickier to use, though. The Russian Death Button is the easiest Griffin setup to learn (Tulus and Pins).

Lol. 4/7 Taran Cossack 4/6 TT Boa 4/6 POT Golem 4/6 Pin Patton. Currently considering whether to buy another golem to make it a rocket golem.

But yeah you could replace the MR Pat with a MR Golem, that'd do your hangar well.
