Golem vs Vityaz

It does different roles. Right now, the only semi-viable builds for the Golam and Vityaz is the Trident Pin Tulumbas Golem or the Thunder/Ancile Aphid Vityaz.

I prefer the Golem.

At my beginnin i've run a full hangar of golem....

Golem = Corner Peeking. Try standing behind those beacon pillars on the moon map. works better with a Lance but a golem will do in a pinch

Vityaz: Zeus/Spiral (Corner-peeking)

Extremely versatile and durable. Has access to secondary light-weapon hardpoint affording it greater damage at range.

Golem all the way. Only bot with one of each weapon. Very versatile.

The thing is, Griffin also last about 10 seconds against another PDB griffin or thunder leo. So you don't blame golem because of that. 
Golem can be a good trident tulu pin range support, he can take becan and kill brit bots. Not go thunder to thunder suicide with leo or lance.

For me they are actually two different tools. Vityaz has the hp, so it can get closer to the action. Golem has the hardpoint versatility, so it works best as a mid-range support. That goes for iOS Diamond levels, though. For lower levels, and when having to choose just one of the two, I would say Golem hands down. It can perform adequately in almost all roles up to low Gold. And as arakos said above, it is extremely fast to upgrade.

I attached a pic below of what I currently run in my hangar. By no means the most viable setup for that league, but keeps the game interesting and fun, and forces me to learn new things instead of the sameold sameold merry-go-round. More importantly however, it goes to show, that both Vityaz and Golem can be used also in higher tiers. Anyone can do it, it just takes a bit of time and patience, and finding out which weapon combos work best for your style of play. (On that, I have to try the Ancile plasma Golem Shahmatt mentioned above. Sounds like a very interesting setup!)

Golem is not meant for knife fighting. 

I voted for Vityaz because none of these viable after bronze, and as a beginner bot Thunder+Pinata  Vityaz is better then  Thunder+Punisher Golem because its weapons are better
investment to upgrade.

Personally when  I started my first medium bot was a Golem  but it did not spend too much time in my hanger, after I got  my first Taran from workshop I replaced it with a Boa.

IMHO the rank  of the silver mediums :
Pre WSP weapons:  Patton > Vityaz > Golem=Boa
Pre AU weapons: Taran Boa > Trident Golem > Vityaz=Patton
After  AU weapons: Aphid  Patton > Orkan Boa >   Golem > Vityaz

I really want to put tridents, tulum, and pins, but to get the trident, you need to be lvl 20+, which by then wouldn't golem not be compatible?

It's difficult to give a definite answer without knowing what level you play in. I assume you are still in early stages though, because you are considering getting one or the other.

If that's the case, I wouldn't worry too much about the squishiness. Vityaz and Golem are not that different from each other, and the time low hp and lack of shielding start to be a real problem, you have probably already moved on to other bots.

Meanwhile Golem has more damage delivery potential than Vityaz due to its medium hardpoint, and it is a lot quicker to upgrade. Those facts mean it will most likely generate you more ag & au, and faster.

Golem can also serve as a decent medium range support platform - in fact you can slap any of your weapons onto it, using all sorts of combos - which makes it more versatile than Vityaz. It will make your weapons management easier, too. You can use a single wep in Golem while saving for another, not having to resort to all sorts of inefficient frankenbuilds in the meantime.

Ps. For some reason I like playing with Vityaz more at the moment, though. It's somehow the "purest" bot of the whole game, the median. No gimmicks or special abilities. Just one heavy wep and two light ones, and pilot skill - or lack of, as often seems to be my case. However, that has nothing to do with which bot is the more intelligent choice for an aspiring pilot.

EDIT: I see you are in bronze. Then what I said above stands (unless bronze has really advanced from what it was when I was there).

I have all bots except Butch and tons of all the weapons. Vityaz is still my favorite bot. It's a challenge to use it effectively in higher leagues, but it packs a punch. Vityaz with Mags and Ancile is the perfect support bot for heavy knife fighters from the blue team. It is fast enough to keep up with most bots so they are protected inside the Ancile hemishere while the Mags are firing timed plasma shots relentlessly for suppression. Thunder and Mags is also nice as a support for heavy knife fighters. Whenever you sit in a Vityaz - look for the nearest blue Lancelot or Ancilot and stick to it. There's enough health to make this a very deadly combination. So to me, even in higher leagues, Vityaz fits a niche and works excellently in its role. And it's fun to be different from the meta.

If you re-design Vityaz, planet earth will explode. Don't do this!!! It is the best looking bot. It looks as cool as an Apache helicopter. I would totally love to see new bots that are designed like Vityaz. Vityaz could be reality someday. When tanks will be replaced by huge military robots in the future, they will look like Vityaz. Keep Vityaz as is bring bring more stuff like it.

As a support golem, I enjoyed playing a Zeus Molot Molot set up.
