I am 40 years old this year. I started on Atari way back in the day. Played Mech warrior on my first desktop.... How much did you pay for those titles? Is it just me or are mobile games getting rediculas selling In game content instead of the game itself? I spent almost $10,000 on mobile strike last year. I quit and switched to war robots hoping to relieve my wallet a bit. Now I find myself playing an inferior game if I don't spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars. I could fill my hanger with leveled robots and weapons....Or I could buy a big screen, an Xbox, ps4, new computer, tablet and phone.... Thoughts??? And I am slow playing not spending much. I spend some because I do believe nothing is free in this world...but $100 per bot.... Wow. And I am not just slamming war robots. This is all mobile games. War robots is actually pretty reasonable. But I was looking for some other opinions on this subject. What do you think?

This game is FTP. Unless you want to progress to top tier on day one of playing, there should be really no reason to play any money. $100 bucks equals 14000 gold. That's equal to a Butch or 3 Lancelots. 200 gold can be earnt per day if play reasonably during the event while 100 gold is usually the average on a normal non-event day.

On monday a friend of mine opened an android account. Played for an hour to get 1k gold. Bought another 6.5k gold with real money (55€). Started buying chests (1k gold ones). Reinvested the gold he won from chests to buy more. Ended up opening 6 super chests (43 total). That got him an incredible gold hangar to start with, plus enough gold for the fourth slot. Even if you are not so lucky, I bet that if you replicate that strategy you would start with a very good hangar, for a beginner. Of course, I'd never spend gold speeding upgrades. Just be patient and enjoy the game. You can have exactly the same fun with a 6/6 hangar than with a 12/12 hangar. I think Welcome and enjoy! Arakos

Arakos I've been playing on Android (my phone) since mid-2016. Just recently started an account on an iPad to try out a larger screen experience. I am having a blast going through the event in the lower levels. Without spending any money, I was able to purchase 1 gold chest that led me to eventually opening a super chest. Most of it was gold rewards, but I did get a Butch and a couple of Jesse out of it. It's a very awkward hanger with 3 hanger slots, a Boa, Vityaz, Butch with event rewards Aphid, Magnum, etc. I'm working on a Taran reward next. You don't have to pay money to have fun in this game.

No I want to be competitive. i never said I wanted to be top tier. I said the opposite actually. You don't need level 12 bots to be competitive. You just need meta builds that are decently leveled and some skill.

Ok, then to answer the original question: $50. I base this price off of the years buying PC games. Every game (worth it or not) averaged between $39 and $49. I think that is what I played for some of the early mech warrior style games, and C&C, Blizzard games etc. for the PC. You can also base it on time. How much and how often do you pay to see a movie in a theater for about 2 hours of entertainment? If you sink more time into a game than you'd normally spend watching a movie, AND you are enjoying the experience, then I feel it is worth it to support the company that made it. With War Robots, I feel I would have been inclined to spend more money if the gold was sold at a lower price point.

Of course you don't have to pay money to enjoy the game! But the OP seems to be asking how much money would place him in a competitive start, that's what I tried to answer, by my experience. BTW the reason my friend collected 1k gold ingame before spending real money was to open that first chest. He got an ancile. Afterwards he did spend the real money and is really happy with his decision. You were incredibly lucky getting to a super chest with just 1k gold.

Only spend on the Mecha and Items you want. No sense spending on things that you'll never use. Just buy Premium and only buy the Gold that you need.
I've been playing for a month and a half and have 9 Mecha but only 3 that interest me, so far, and bought Gold to buy the Rogatka, Schemes and Premium - $38.50 CAD.

Exactly bro. I started this game 2 months ago. It was great until diamond league. Your point is valid. But who wants to start over every 2 months to stay in a lower league I'm very much in your same boat. Started about 2 month's ago. Had a great time advancing through Bronze/Silver/Gold (I spent $100 early on to get the fifth slot, a Gareth, a Galahad, and several weapons, which helped a lot). I'm now finding myself getting humbled in Diamond with my 8/7 hanger (all my personal stats took a major hit going from Gold III to Diamond I). I spent a little more during this event to roll on the chests, and obtained a second Galahad, a Lance, a Fury, Zeus's for the Fury, and several other weapons and bots to stash away. This has helped my stats quite a bit, but I'm still rarely in the top three. I suspect I won't see the top until I can get my hanger leveled up another notch or two. Still, I find ways to help the team (beacon running, support fire, etc...). Great part about this game is you can spend as much or as little as you want. You can be patient and progress slowly, or you can break out your wallet and pay to win. The amount of money I've spent so far has been well worth it to me in terms of the enjoyment I'm getting (been playing 2-3 hours a day ever since I started, so a couple Franklins is peanuts). You just have to find the balance that's right for you.

With War Robots, I feel I would have been inclined to spend more money if the gold was sold at a lower price point. I've cited this sort of calculations often, and this is most in line with my thinking. I don't really understand the logic of putting price first. For instance, "I won't spend money on a mobile game." If you're getting hour for hour entertainment and buy console games...why the arbitrary distinction? I'd go one step further here and say that if I was getting enough hours of entertainment out of this game as I would two console games, then the "value" is $100. And so on.

You just have to find the balance that's right for you. It's this above. If you pride yourself on FTP, great, have at it and enjoy silver/gold leagues. If you want to rise more quickly, you can do so with only few hundred dollars. That would get you an all meta hangar and weapons, and you could speed upgrades and be at least in the 8/8 or 9/9 range within a few months to earn silver. But know that you will always take losses in this game. People that want to win 90% of their games are going to get frustrated here no matter the level. There is always a badder hombre out there, until you reach 12/12.

We seem to have gotten off topic some. But most are willing to pay a couple hundred if they enjoy the game it seems. I have much regret for my last year of spending. Used the fact I enjoyed it as a justification until I realized I spent $10,000. And that's a true story not a made up number. I am $50 into this title. I am putting a limit of $200. Thank you for the feedback. And I love the game. It is not over priced. I was asking an honest question. Thanks

Whoever thought of in-app purchases is a genius. I usually only spend money to support ongoing development (basically, paying developers to continue to develop the game whether I like the updates or not). I don't spend money to progress faster since being at the top gets boring fast. I like to grind... to lose more than I win.

What I recommend spending on this game is 0. If you can play for free why pay? The only thing stopping me from enjoying this game to the fullest is my wife.

Play 2DB Giffins and 2 Plasma Griffins until you can make more gold. IMO you'll be plenty competitive through silver and possibly into Gold tier.

Cost to play a game? $0 (excluding electricity and device fees) Cost to buy a console/PC game? I've never bought those before but I imagine around $40-60 Cost to buy rights to a game/franchise? Probably in the thousands to millions

Some people have a perception that higher level/better weapons = more fun.
No, not in this game. Higher level/better weapons puts you with experienced people with same weapons. Your fun factor will go down as you have to claw and scratch for every win.
The most fun I had was when we were running around with beginner light bots. All down hill from there.

Half the fun I've had playing this game is thinking about what I should upgrade next and knowing that at all times, even while I sleep, I'm, in a sense, playing the game because my hangar is upgrading and becoming more powerful. If I had simply bought a top tier hangar at the beginning, that would have been rather lame, and I would have probably become bored a long time ago.

I think I paid $10 USD for Starsector ($15 Alpha release now) and still I think it's the lowest entry to the most fun I've ever had.
