Alright, so after a long and miserable day filled with tons of terrible matches I cannot help but wonder if any others have been experiencing this same phenomenon.
It seems that in all of the greed and hustle to capitalize on the event rewards for maximum return, the tankers are at an all time high. Has anyone else been noticing a shift in leagues as tankers from higher levels start filtering down? In turn, this causes more losses for those playing normally and slowly but surely shoves them a few steps down the ladder. Seems like there is a domino effect going on and everyone is shifting down a league. I guess maybe it could just be the way the ball rolls in the current Match Maker and tomorrow will be filled with incredible wins like yesterday was. I can only hope after the annoying onslaught of Furies and Ancilot hoards which were faced today.
On the plus side, I can really thank all of the Forum Mercenaries for squadding up and keeping the experience a fun one despite the horrible string of losses!

What I think is we got a lucky break from timezones. When the event rolled in, it was dead of night-next morning rush-workday for players in East-Asia. Now that today in Saturday here, and well since most tankers and cheaters I see are from that timezone, you get the picture.

haha You saying we Americans don't play fair? Maybe, but also more likely that once people realized that they get GOLD rewards for losing and even more from winning the game was on. They CAN'T lose no matter what!
They are rewarded on the way down and then when they get to where ever they choose to start beating on people they are rewarded even more by overpowering everyone and getting the top damage reward. To ADD to that reward they easily skate right through the added task reward feature.
Pixonic has REALLY SCREWED UP on this event.

hahah those dirty dirty dogs!
I think it does happen all over the place but being that mobile games reach many more parts of the world since cell phones are far more prevalent than PC's or consoles, the likely hood of players who haven't necessarily been taught the value of sportsmanship and fair play is much, much greater.
Many probably aren't even aware of the pain they may cause others (nor would they give a 「dookie」 either) but instead, think that they are just the smartest in the world for figuring out the system and maximizing profits. You do see full clan squads doing it though too. People always do anything they can to win, that's the game to them. Finding loopholes is more satisfactory to them than solid, competitive, and fair fights.

And silver dwellers like me are seeing easier opponents in levels I usually get pummeled out of as soon as I get into them. Perhaps the tankers have passed me up and gone lower?

Because league points are equally distributed. The premise of this thread is inaccurate.
For every loss, someone else is winning.
Sorry, your point is null.

If anything, I've seen people playing much harder, which is fun... even if it means I get my [bum-bum] handed to me more often!

Playing much harder? I can live with that.
Deliberately playing bad so someone can move down his league, and so he can have easier chance to finish the event tasks (wins, destroys, etc), while getting 2 gold each time he does that? Hmmm...

My sentiments exactly, I haven't played yet today but yesterday I got in 5 rounds. I lost the first 3 in a row , won the next two but was in the top 3 players in all of the matches. Now, going back to OP, there were no tankers in any of these matches. I am silver one on android

Quick, naive question:
In solo play, how can you tell that other players (teammates or opponents) are real people?
Sometimes I've just thinking, why when I'm in higher winrate, my teammates are much dumber than when I was in near 50%? I don't mean to say that I'm a good player, but the teammates' ignorance is too conspicuous. Neglecting the beacons, do swarming attack to the most guarded points, keep shooting on a direction while he's been shot many times from another angle, and anything else that makes us think "how can they reach this point of advancement if they really don't know how to play the game?".
Just a honest, sincere question.

tons of sandbaggers right now. exactly as it was when mm first came out and was damaged based. Many games with blues that just sat back and collected silver, except this time its gold. you'll end up being the lone guy trying to grab the beacons to actually win. saw a fury today shooting backwards towards the blue spawn 「whiskey tango foxtrot」!!

I think there are 2 things going on here. 1) There are a LOT more people playing. It makes the matches more intense and it makes the percentiles larger. So lets say for example with 100k players and 10 divisions, 0-10,000 people are in the lowest division. With 200,000 people playing, now 20,000 people have to go in the lowest division. With a lot of people coming back, maybe even a lot of veterans, I think this may be causing a push down effect.
2) Tanking is definitely up, but it should be a net neutral. This is the worst it's been since leaver's queue was introduced. I don't know what's going on. I thought it was meant to deal with that.
---- Personal note: I almost got pushed into Silver 3 (from Silver 1) with a string of losses. Battling back and trying to get into Silver 1. My damage has also gone through the roof and hit 450k+. I think it's because a lot of people are going for beacons and using underpowered bots which are easier to kill.

All of the battles I've played seem fair. Hell, I'm seeing players with only 3 bot slots playing damn good in Silver II.

For any of you not experiencing this, have you tried playing full squad matches and at what leagues?
It's fine when you're soloing for the most part.

Okay, the leagues aren't literally shifting because where would the bottom guys go? That was more of an attention grabber than anything. But you get the idea of what I am saying......or are you saying this isn't happening?

I am dropping at the moment, more because I am trying to complete challenges etc. and I am not a high damage dealer - therefore = wins and losses to me mean an average slight drop in league rating. in general however I am saying it isn't happening. There is no way that it can.

I only play solo games with randos, myself. I'm in Android.
Recently, around when the event started, I have seen my game and the game of those around me largely improve to the point where I've climbed into Gold III and seem to be holding my own there, where before it seemed to be really difficult to break into Silver III. My win rate hovers around 70% or so. I think this is partially due to my being able to assess battles better and develop better tactics, and also due to tankers / leavers / other children being less of an issue. Having a functional team is freaking awesome.

I have been in Gold 2 for a bit before the event and a little after... now, I am seeing a LOT more level 10s, 11s, and 12s in Gold 1 and 2, with some of those obvious tankers on the way up and some that are probably just on the tail end of a losing streak from somewhere in Diamond. So, In effect, I think I understand the premise of the OP and it has firmly settled in Gold now... Whereas when this was posted, it was prolly in Diamond or above. I don't know that we will see it spread much further down, but I can attest to the change in normal Gold level hangars now compared to a week ago... in my games, anyway.
JMO YMMV

Well something is shifting. I have been in iOS gold 1 for about a month now and I only rarely see Lances in my games usually one or 2 including mine. But lately I had a game with 3-4 Lances. It gets worse as you go up. I squadded with some expert guys and there was at least 8 lances during that game.

Two groups of people standing in front of each other standing still shooting at each other. Took a foreigner to tell them that what they were doing is stupid asf and introduced guerrilla warfare.
