What is the general consensus for a quad gekko Patton as a counter to the dreaded trident fury? Before I invest in gold on an idea, has anyone tried it? Is it effective?

I don't know geckos, but a Patton with quad level 10 geckos used it on my Leo as I cross Spring canyon, he did about 35k damage on 120k Leo till I crossed over and capped center beacon.

I've not tried it but just based on stas I've seen, 4x gekkos at L12 will do around 3k HP damage per second. Fury at L12 has around 160k HP, so you'll need to have constant uninterrupted line of sight on your target for almost a full minute to kill him. And that's not even considering cooldown time. So on paper doesnt look too effective. If strategy is to beat the trident fury based on sheer range, think triple treb fury is the best choice?

Gekkos aren't the best option compared to other counters. As Tin said, simply not enough damage output. Trebs is by far the best burst option out there, Kwks benefit from a (relatively) high DPS rate.
The new gun slinger heavy is a viable option for trebs as you can rotate charged trebs in and out quickly.

Not worth the gold at all. Gold is better spent else where. If you want to counter Fury Tridents, as the others said, use Fury Treb.

Kwks perform better than Trebs at the moment, only having to peek for a second every 9 for full damage tends to scream "Move!" more than a beam of dissapointment ever 15-23. They're also dirt cheap. They aren't effective against carnage or a turtling fujin, but chances are you won't be sniping many of those if you're in Tri-Fury land.

Molots for open map counter, hydra/spirals for heavy cover maps, trebuchets (on a fury) for taking out most medium range bots and stalkers. For exclusively countering furies though the KwK is your best bet, as it has a similar reload time to tridents, which is the most commonly used setup on a fury. Really the best way to counter a trident fury though is to stay out of its line of sight and force the pilot to use another bot due to beacon domination.

There are actually many carnages in gold, and they can be very annoying (especially trident carnages), they have the mobility to move out of range of pretty much any bot in the game, and the firepower to pose as a threat. When I bought my trebuchets and levelled them up for my fury though, I almost felt sorry for any carnages on the field. Hell sometimes I even spawn in my Treb fury in solo games and spam the manual target button until I see a blue bar. Sometimes the pilots even quit the game after they realise their carnage has been reduced to half HP at the start of the match

Carnage is also more likely to branch off of it's friends. Tri-Fury is dangerous because decent reds stick to it like troll blues stick to friendly spiral pattons, waiting for the meat to come running. It's all preference, both Tri bots are likely to gather a gank spank after they've made themselves known, Furys tend to have more stopping power and friends, Carnage has a big blue sign on it saying "Kill me I has a bubble". The latter is why I'd like to eventually run an Orkan Ancile lance.

What they need to do to the ancile is make it significantly stronger, but come down as soon as it takes the required damage. Ps. Have you ever tried to chase down a trident carnage? They are impossible to get to individually

I think that would make it infinitly more useful, so that it isn't eaten up by random bullet spray but when you see rockets, "Mr. Data, shields up".

Walk in to centre with a fury and activate wall. Lol. But seriously though this would make it a bit better.

I have been rather disappointed by the 3 Gekkos I bought. First for a laughable 'sniper-gep' that actually caused my avg damage to drop by about a third on gold farming runs. When I put them on a Leo with a Zeus, however, it's not so bad. While you won't get those spectacular flaming potato hits, the triple beams (and especially if in range of the Zeus) will cause most bots to scurry for better cover. I dunno if I ever killed a Fury (of any kind) with the Lazer-Leo, but I am sure I messed up their plans and made 'em camp a little harder. If you like giving yourself an additional challenge in the game, Gekkos are totally worth the gold

Fury has a large amount of hp, Gekko's would be like throwing pebbles at a wall Really want to take out a trident fury, rush them with a thunder carny, hit while they're reloading, rush when they're trying to aim
