Here's the deal:
I'm Expert 3, weps/bot average 8.5 or so. I'm looking for some interesting bot setups for CB on Canyon (excluding Gareth and Stalker, cause I don't wanna talk about them). Every time I go for center I get hammered by TT Furies and Carnages. I want a bot that can take the hit and/or carry an Ancile, but also have some firepower to keep the mid-rangers on their feet; something relatively fast to get there quick, but also enough of the good stuff to put up a fight when a Plasmahad inevitably rounds the corner.
Thoughts? Gimme some weird ideas! ?
Btw, here are some setups that I've ruled out for this hypothetical situation:
Zeus or Trident Carnage: good until the Plasmahad. Ancilot: Good, but slow. I still might use him. Ancile Schutze: No firepower. duh. (but fast enough!) FORK: the only possible Fujin loadout that doesn't melt to the Plasmahad, but too slow, especially considering that it has to keep stopping to block the Tridents. (also, your shield is gone by the time you reach the beacon, which is extra stupid)

Ancile Raijin? still slow... but you can withstand both! (Semi tounge-in-cheek response)

Why are you trying to take center with TT Furies and Carnages raining fire onto your position? Take them out first with a treb Fury, Natty, or Zeus Carnage.

Holding the center on Canyon is a fool's errand. It's better to cap it and move off. It match goes to whomever has the most bots and can keep capturing.

Ancilot no doubt. I prefer the orkan variety as you drop your load then get back into cover for your shields to regenerate.

YOU. *cue sarcastic rage* gr3ygh05t I like the Orkan Ancilot, but I always seem to find myself in situations where I'm - at best - just helping a little bit. It seems like there's no ability to sustain a fight, and 2 Orkans just can't finish the job. What do you do when you come across another Ancilot?

If it's a regular ancilot you should have an advantage if get under the ancile. Now if it's the thunder ork variant make sure you spot it fast because if it gets the jump on you or it would have the advantage. But if you get your orks to bear faster before your ancile breaks you might destroy it before you die.

Why are you trying to take center with TT Furies and Carnages raining fire onto your position? Take them out first with a treb Fury, Natty, or Zeus Carnage. Mostly this. If the enemy medium range support (Trident/Zeus) is active and strong, anything you take down to retake center is sacrificial so plan and act accordingly. Ancilot is a decent bet here, if you can't wait and have to throw away a bot *now*. Better to find a way to remove the enemy range (Trebs are one way, not the only way) and then center becomes a (knife) fight, and you should already know how to handle that. If the enemy just has Trebs, they don't have the firepower to stop you unless you're unlucky or careless.

Ancile Lancelot is the best bot for taking center beacon in Canyon, and in any other map.

Ancile Lancelot is the best bot for taking center beacon in Canyon, and in any other map. It's by far the best pure tank in the game. But there are often better ways to solve a problem than 'suck up *all* the damage'.

You are not going to be able to do it with those levels no matter what set up you use. I know exactly what you are talking about when I was there with level 9s. You need level 11; maybe 10 if you are teamed up.
Your solution is to level up.
In the meantime your best approach is to hammer anything defending the beacon while avoiding tridents. Jump in there when your team puts in the effort. Never go at it alone. You may have to sacrifice a bot mid game before the game gets away from you. But don't do this too early or it's just a waste.
You can take beacon with Ancilot and hold it for awhile but it's a waste of a valuable bot if you do it early. Save it for the end game. Usually the other team's numbers start to dwindle and now you put the pressure on them to try to take it; and they will have your Ancilot to contend with.

Ancilot. But instead of driving it to middle beacon, go around (yes slowly I know) and take out the long range with your ancile shield.

No Rhino love yet?
One of my favs to start a match, especially Canyon. You can get there in a hurry and sometimes grab a beacon along the way. TT Fury is still a concern if they can get the right angle and you can't use the wall to block - but that's the only real threat outside a DB Griff. A Hellfire Rhino will eat up Brit bots who try to come over to your side of the wall. With Lances you pray it's not Thorkan cause you can walk inside the ancile on a Taran variety and wreck. Midrange Zeus and other energy weapons are like the buzzing of flys to you.
Tulu-mag is an nice wrinkle if you want to fend off midrange but you have to move more often in that build because of the long reload time.

You know, I've noticed a number of my clan mates opening in tulu/mag Rhinos. I should give it a try...
I also read an interesting reddit post about an Ancile Mag Leo. I'd like to give it a shot, but that takes out my Ancilot AND my Plasmahad. Not sure I'm ready for that yet.
Other thought: I've wondered why we don't call Taran/Ancile Lancelot a "tarantula" eh ^_^ eh ^_^
