Why do some pilots wait until it's too late to salvage a match to drop their Ancilot into the battle? We could have used your best bot a whole lot sooner... like before we were down 4 beacons and outnumbered by 2 players.

I almost always start with mine, unless early speed is needed on Springfield. If you can drop that early and gain a beacon lead, your other bots can be more effective if you don't have to push as hard for late beacons. You can be more patient and make your bots last longer.

Probably because they dropped stalkers and Gareths first to nab some tasty bacon... err, beacons. :-)

Had a game on Canyon yesterday where a Red in a Gekko Patton stayed in that bot until it was a 5 on 1 and he was sitting on the last red beacon. As my Rog closed in to finally blow him apart he suddenly ejected and reappeared in his Ancilot next to me and blasted me apart. I laughed. I still had 2 bots left in my hangar and he had all of about 4 or 5 seconds to enjoy his victory before the big You Lose filled his screen. The mysteries of the Human psyche.

I now have 2 ancilots. I start with one on most maps and I will drop my second one on bot 3,4, or 5.
The late ancilot can be great if the opponents have dropped all their best bots already

Depends on the map. Sometimes I drop first, the beacon runners are dying about the time I get to center, so I amble in to hold it down for 2 to 3 minutes.
Sometimes I drop it in the middle when at a disadvantage to cover the team and push the lines swinging favor back to us.
Sometimes I drop it last. Often victory comes down to holding a single beacon as the timer ticks down, or simply staying alive for the last minute of a match.
Sometimes, I dont even drop in lance as it isnt needed and my other bots contribute more to the win.
Sometimes I drop lance cause all my other ?poo-poo? exploded and Ive no choice.
Think that covers it.

Agree with [apotheosis] ... Yeah, for me, there is no sure-fire formula to Bot-drop order. I tend to drop Mr Ancile 1st on short maps... but sometimes the Thundorkan is the better choice... just depends. Occasionally, if I see a couple of Blues have already dropped an Ancilelot during the countdown, I will go ahead and drop a capper or a runner to start and then drop Ancilelot after to keep the pressure on longer.

I'll usually save my Ancile bots for busting thru reds. In the beginning, it's too easy to get outnumbered and waste your Ancilot. At the end, the bot is much stronger when there is less out there, and hopefully the counters have been used up already.

I play matchup the entire game. Drop a DB at open to counter the shield bots grabbing beacons. Then depending on what remains on the field (use the opponent view to look around) then drop another DB (if shield bots) or plasma (if ancil bots). I keep going like that dropping hard counters.
There is no order of dropping. You drop what's needed for the situation. I tend to keep 2 plasma 3 splash to handle the situations.
Dropping an orkan ancilot at open is a bad idea IMO. There's not enough sustained firepower to take down the 1-3 shieldbots at open.

If I am squadding and I know someone will be following me I will drop the ancilot first and trudge my way to red spawn. A trail of dead reds usually is left in our wake. But in solo it is hard to judge when to drop it as random team mates are unpredictable.

But if you start with it and deploy it in the wrong space, you have wasted an opportunity. I usually start with a Griffin for balance and then use Ancilot, Plasma Galahad, or Thunder Carnage next depending on how the battle is unfolding and what needs doing.

I usually start with a Stalker and cap 2-3 beacon then i drop in my Ancilot or my Fury/Zeus depending on the map and the i go with Carnage/Trident or Plasmahad.
