Starsector

Probably this has no intersection with the mobile crowd but a game I'm huge fan of a game that is still Alpha and just dropped a major release recently on a major holiday.  Starsector is IMO a spiritual successor to Elite but lots of people disagree.  Still a great game for $15 usd in Alpha stage.  Caveats are you need a good JVM (on Ubuntu "it just works") so effort may be required if you persist with those other operating systems.  If you run a lot of mods it will make you look for more drugs and better hardware (4G/64b min).  So many talented modders in this community.  If you are a coder this game is pretty much open in terms of what you would/could make it if you don't hate java/xml.  Also Alex is a good role model for coding and development if you can get away with that kind of release schedule.
