If we only had a thread of terms maybe called glossary. Maybe a poster like sochilli (Saltesers) could create this thread. Then we could get it stickied by a mod. I already did read it before posting, was one of the first things i have read when i started playing. What stroke me is that the word "tank" in the meaning of strong at taking hits is almost never used here, even if some mechs are actually good at it (think of shielded or anciled mechs) or mechs with huge hp pool.

Tanking can also mean to waterproof the walls & floor of a basement to keep out damp ... but we wouldn't use it like that I have not previously heard it used in terms of being like a tank and taking damage - I understood the context to mean deliberately drop games to lower score/ranking

Bots are Tanks, Players are Tankers. In this rock-paper-scissors game no bot can Tank damage in the traditional sense. Ancilot comes close, but dies fast to Torkelot, or plasma to the back or sides. Torkelot LOL. I like that. We should make that official. not a bad idea. the beast counter o ancilot, torkelot!

One would expect that it would be the normal term, meaning someone that stays in the front line and is able to withstand lots of damage, be it from an high HP pool, or using covers to shoot, or having strong shields. Eheheeheheeeheheheee! I don't have the time to quote all the times I pointed this out in earlier threads, especially the opinion-polling threads on defining 'tanking' for what it means to this specific community. As reformed grammer nazi, however, Thanks! You are soooooo not alone Just for 「dookie」s & giggles...

That was not directed at you. I was just making stupid comment. I get your POV but disagree with it. EDIT: I would have quoted or tagged you if I was directing a comment to you.

I agree with llama, but, it's this particular gaming community's chosen term, so I just roll with it.

2 things to say here. The 2nd one I just learnt myself (hillarious), and I wonder if llama4president was intentional when he chose this id. Ive never heard of the 2nd one being used before though. A. To clarify the "misunderstanding" B.Llama
