So I've seen it said that DB Griffins can take out Ancilots fairly easily, but I find that I have a hard time doing it. Can someone enlighten me as to the technique?

You don't take out Ancile Lancelots with Death Button Griffins. It's suicide unless you manage to get inside the Ancile bubble.

Any setup can kill an Ancilot if the conditions are right.
A DB Griff is far from an optimal match to an Ancilot and it's one that a TT pilot of a DB would not take on unless other blues were in in the fight.
If I were in a DB Griff, I'd be checking my six to see if blues were in range before even considered assaulting an Ancilot --- cause if it's just a 1-vs-1 then it's a bad win at best (where I'm left with less than 25% HP and probably a weapon gone) or at worse I've wasted my Griff to take less than half the Ancilot's HP.
The difference between a good pilot and mediocre one is that the good one won't take on this fight --- heck, you mean that while in your DB Griff that you can't find a better high value target like an Aphid Patton, Plasmahad, Rhino, or Gareth anywhere on the map that you just HAD to fight that slow lumbering Ancilot?
I kill Ancilots with my Plasmahads or Thunder/Orkan Lances --- that's an easy kill that usually doesn't involve noticable HP loss.

If you are in a DB you have to wait until the Ancile is down or suppressed by another bot. Taking it on solo is a losing proposition for you.

Hmm, I thought I'd seen some people on this forum talking about it like it was easy. Maybe I misunderstood or maybe they were just running their mouths. Thought it was something I was doing wrong. Okay, other targets it is.

Yeah, don't take on an ancilot with a DB griffin unless someone is removing the shield for you.

Actually you can take out an Ancilot with a DB solo. The best way to put this analogy is Luke taking out the Death star. What you need to do is jump into the Ancile bubble and launch your proton torpedoes at it so to speak. I would say 1/1000 odds of pulling this off successfully.

Get close to ancilot like you pushing him then shoot your orkans/pinatas.

I agree to @corrine, I kill ancilots with my db rhino, put on the shield to dodge the tarans, get close enough (30m) and release everything you got!
