Does anyone run stalkers in gold tier? What level? I kind of miss my stalker--I mothballed it after the WSP penalty was killing my silver tier hangar and haven't touched it in a long time.

People definitely run stalkers, but it seems preferred to just run a Rhino instead, especially when clanning, so you can hold that beacon you capped. That being said, I'm no expert. Edit: I totally forgot about the Galahad. Much more survivable than the stalker, and deadly in the right hands.

There still are Stalkers in gold tier, especially in low gold. The thing is, by this point, many (if not most/all) pilots in low gold know how to deal with and kill Stalkers. So, they've become to gold tier what Cossacks are in lower tiers - basically running around turning beacons, but not really holding any. So in small maps like Shenzen where beacons are generally easy to defend, they're very limited in my opinion.
I have a Stalker, and it's left behind in high silver (L6), gathering dust in my storage. I only maintain a low silver hangar (3/10-11 lights, 3/9 mediums) and my main/gold hangar (8/10-11). So there's no place for my Stalker anymore.

Haven't used a stalker in a while--they don't last all that long in gold tier. plus the damage they do is minimal.

^^Damage is minimal, yes. And this probably has a lot to do with the Magnum nerf.

Hey, what exactly are the magnum's new nerf? I've noticed a significant drop in they're accuracy. I used to happily run a pair on my stalker. Now for some reason I can't hit the fat side of a barn with those things.

It was actually nerfed a while back with a 10% reduced firing speed. The newest inaccuracies are very likely a bug.

Top end hangars simply don't have room for a stalker. The damage reduction you face when compared to having another knifer in the line up is simply too big a handicap.
A PDF or DB Rhino can easily get 1-2 kills (100k damage easily). A stalker won't get nearly those numbers. In addition the Rhino can effectively run beacons and hold them far longer than a stalker can.

It's been a while since the nerf, yes. Fire rate was slowed, and accuracy as well. you now have to kind of lead your shots like you do with rockets. Accuracy also seems to lessen with distance. The distance inaccuracy seems to apply to Tarans as well.

The magnum's been nerfed but the clubbers are still ever lurking...

I've only got 5 slots (wish I had 7 sometimes the way I play) so I'm not going to waste it on something like a stalker. Sure you can cap beacons but what's the point if you can't defend it? Besides, gold tier is about getting a lot of damage to fuel your silver-hungry hangar that's always in need of upgrading.

Well, back when I still had my Stalker in my regular hangar, I'd use it (and only it) to achieve the task 150k damage in a single battle using a light robot. Of course, it took ages and a lot of care to get there.
I do think that Stalkers have a unique role in the game - when you're having a hard time taking or holding center beacon, it can be used to try to capture the red team's side beacon and divert their attention. The thing is, I don't see many Stalkers doing this. Most try to stand and fight, and many in gold tier have figured out how to handle a Stalker by then. Of course, any of the game's fastest bots can fit this role, but the stealth ability makes the Stalker the best one for this.
But, as said by alteregoblythe, silver farming is also very important in gold tier, and a Stalker isn't much help in that aspect.

Kinetic, that was a long time ago. Back before I realized I could put together a silver hangar for tasks like that.

I'm starting to believe that Stalker needs aphids to remain relevant.
Sure you have like 8 seconds to peg away with mags, which is something like 60k possible damage. That's really pretty good.
But with Aphids you can deal a potential 35k all in one swoop, saving your paper thin hide from waiting behind a timer.

I find Stalkers more of a distraction than a danger in Gold. They are far too susceptible to the bigger splash damage and effective mid/long range weapons than lower down. They are still good runners but have lower survival chances close up - and Stalker pilots generally seem to ignore the fact they aren't true knifers.
I'll admit there are a few very good ones still but many are Zeus/Trident fodder

Yeah, occasionally there is somebody who is very good with an unusual bot.
