OK have the Lance leveled up to 9. I have lvl 10 Orks and a thunder on it now. If I decide to throw an ancile on it is it worth it? And should I switch out Orks for tarans if I go with an ancile? Thanks in advance!

I have the same set up at 9/8 and level 6 ancile. Solo, I don't like using the ancile ATM. Miss the thunder. But when I squad with a good partner I use the ancile. I have also tried tarans and switched back to Orks... I like the way Orks perform. Too many shield bots for me to take out solo with tarans.

Tarancilot is pretty solid because you can stay out of the range of most splash, and stay alive pretty long hounding reds.
The standard Lance is still the beast that takes the beacon though it will die doing it.

Thanks in advance! The Ancil Lance with Orkans is not good - you'll get killed by every Plasmahad and PDB Griff out there. Worse, you can't kill a Ancil Lance with Tarans. Now the Ancil Lance with Tarans is another story. That build is worth obtaining. If you simply advance with the Lance along side fellow blue knifers, you should be able to easy push aside any randoms in that area. Heck, you can even go in solo if you are 100% sure that red bots you are assaulting are using missiles/rockets/guns (and theyarent shield bots) - but don't expect to last long after that if you go too far ahead without blues to protect you (as you protect them).

Played both builds, and the orkan lance did deliver more damage, but also didn't live as long because I had to get in closeer. I prefer the tarans both because of being able to pop db setups a couple times before they can close the range, and because they're good in a brawl for giving a couple love taps to jumping griffs when orkans are much harder to snap-fire on target on a jumping bot. Plus it is much more effective vs carnys, which seem to be everywhere for me lately.

I went around with a level 9 lancelot balancing an ancile (level 7) on its head and to be honest, while it can soak up tridents and orkans, unless it is a level 10 or higher (can start getting expensive) the ancille might seem like not worth it. That does not mean don’t buy it - just don’t expect anything really special out of the box. You need to level it up before you really see any tangible difference.
I think it was already debated whether the use of the ancille instead of another heavy weapon was worth it. Opinions depend on the type of user, their league (higher tier players like popping rockets it seems) and other variables.
Tarans are nice if you are chasing Carnage and if you bump in a Leo wearing the ancile on its head but if you come up against a shield bot that is levelled up (especially a lancelot that is pointing the thunder right at your face and has either Okrans or another pair of Tarans) you might have your work cut out. A high level thunder can quickly melt away the ancile and leave you exposed to missles.
Okrans are fun to use against a shield bot but somehow by themselves they are not fully effective against a high level carnage at full strength or against any other bot with a high level ancile.
I ended up bolting the thunders back on the lancelots for now and the ancile sits on top of the Leo.
Really sorry that I could not give you a definite answer.

Also, how you play the bot is very different if you put an ancile on it. A thunder ork lance is a tight quarters brawler, where you stick your face into the middle of a brawl and try to destroy db bots before they destroy you. An ancilot is better played with a bit more patience, both because you only have the firepower of a rog, and because a few seconds of charge for the ancile is important from time to time. Cover is more important for the ancilot in a knife fight, because without the thunder you have that 5 sec reload on the tarans when you're getting blasted. With a thunder you can still pop a few shots as you advance, while with an ancilot it pays to slide into cover and reload/recharge a bit more. I play my ancilot a bit like an anti-galahad, meaning I target unshielded db and thunder setups while trying to avoid plasma faceoffs.

Short answer is Yes. The Tarancilot and the Thunder/Ork both have their specific uses. While the Tarancilot is definitely tougher it requires support to be effective. The Thunder Ork is powerful but very squishy with an Ancile.

I ran an ancilot for a stretch, it's survivable but utterly boring to use, its firepower is far from impressive.
That said I was just in a squad battle with a few other clan members on dead city where the whole enemy team was in ancilots... let's just say I scored the worst in that game than I've ever scored in all my time playing War Robots.

Makes you think which you would rather fight against: a full squad of TT Furies or a full squad of Ancilots.
