Hi everyone,
I've been lurking for a while and learning about the game. Started playing a few weeks ago.
I need some advice regarding progression, namely where to take it from my current hangar.
My lineup at the moment is:
1 x Lvl. 2 Gepard w/ 3 x Lvl. 6 Magnums 1 x Lvl. 2 Destrier w/ 2 x Lvl. 5 Pinatas 1 x Lvl. 2 Cossack w/ 1 x Lvl. 5 Orkan 1 x Lvl. 2 Cossack w/ 1 x Lvl. 5 Taran
I'm in Low Bronze farming gold, xp and silver at the moment. I made some gold purchases and plan to make more in the future, so on the back burner I also have a Lvl. 2 Rogatka and another Lvl. 5 Orkan (2 in total). Also got a Gekko (first purchase and a mistake that I regretted). Also have a Lvl. 6 Griffin that I don't use.
My questions:
1) How much further can I push my current setup to still stay in Bronze? Can I add any other AU (Gareth?) or WSP (Stalker?) bots apart from the Gepard?
2) Once I do get bored of grinding which will probably be sooner rather than later, what should I do?
How can I transition into High Bronze or Low Silver?
I tried the Rogatka but it put me in the middle of Rhinos, Griffins, Raijins etc. all levelled up and with high level weapons. When I bought it I thought it was a Bronze tier bot, but apparently not. So since I have to go into Silver to use the Rog, what way can I be best prepared for that?
Would a Galahad push me even higher in Silver than that Rog?
I'd love to use mediums because I'd like to use Orkans and Tarans (more than the one that gets onto a Cossack, that is) but my lineup is way too weak for even low Silver at the moment.
Any advice on either how to strengthen my hangar for High Bronze or future proof it for when I go to Low Silver?
Also, I'm aware that any advice might be short lived because they'll be changing the matchmaking soon. That's another reason why I'd like to future proof it to some degree because I don't think that they'll keep Gepards available in Low Bronze anymore.
EDIT: Just to clarify further, I'd like to stay in Bronze as long as I can and then move to lower Silver. I have no Gold tier plans for a while to come, months probably.
Also, I value speed a lot. Camping and long range are not for me (tried it, got bored, sold the bot), neither is sitting in a Raijin or Fujin and doing nothing. Speed + plasma/laser + rockets are what's fun as far as I'm concerned. I still don't have Aphids and similar, not sure how future-proof those are (probably not very).

If I'm not mistaken, you can upgrade all your bots to lvl 4.

I would get a Boa & Golem, Taran & Thunder on Boa, Rocket Golem (Thunder, Orkan, Pinata) and stick and ECU on the Cossack.
Use the Cossack as your first bot on every map and try to capture at least two beacons at the start, its easily done as everyone spawns at their base, on sometimes you might be able to capture 3. once you get whatever beacons you can get I normally eject.
Those 3 beacons normally gets you the beacon gold in most matches.
Like someone said you can go 4/6 on the bots.
save the gold for 5th slot

I already do get most beacons/kills in the current games owing to the Gepard and the Cossacks. Even when the Gepard dies fast those two Cossacks carry the rest of the game. So I'm not sure if Boa/Golem would be an upgrade really because as it stands at the moment I can finish a game pretty fast and well with my current setup.
Thanks for the levelling advice, I didn't know I could play them at 4 in this same tier because I've seen a lot of recent MM discussions saying that 2/6 would be the limit.
That said, what I'd like to know is where to take it from here except upgrading all to Level 4. How will Rog change my MM? And how can I change the rest of the hangar to offset that? What I do know is that the moment I bring the Rog with Orkans instead of the Pinata Destrier, I get matched against Stalkers, Rhinos, WSP/AU Griffins etc. which are a bit too high for me ATM.
The 5th slot I'll eventually buy with a straight gold purchase - for the moment I'd prefer to try out new bots and save for weapons to stick onto them.

Howdy.
There's two distinct Bronzes, high and low. Low seems to cap around the 1/5 or 2/6-ish for light bots, I think, high caps at 4/9 lights and 4/6 mediums. In high you will notice quite a few heavies with tough gear, but closer inspection reveals less skilled pilots more often than not. That and sometimes MM goes haywire from time to time. Your win ratio and I believe (correct me if I'm wrong guys) your average damage does affect matchups too.
So definately dust off that Rogatka as it's a beast. Twin Orkans do well, or grab another Taran to pair up on it. The name Taranasaurus Rog was once only whispered in fear, and even post nerf it still should be. Just don't take on a shieldbot head on.
Leave the Gareth and Stalker alone until you're ready for Silver. The Griffin too, just for now.
Edit, if your win% and avg. dmg. is high, sit back on your lvls a bit. A 3/6 medium or 3/5 even, can still wreck like Ralph. If however, your trying to shoehorn that Rog into low Bronze, give up, you may go mad.

Thanks for the advice - the 2/6 limit is where I'm keeping myself at the moment on purpose (grinding. Not for too long though since it's too repetitive).
So in that case, should I lay off all other AU bot purchases for the time being until I can get to Silver? And the idea, if I get you correctly, would be to level the Rog to about 3/6 in the background while I level the rest of them to 4/9, then get the Rog into the lineup?
I realised that I won't be able to fit the Rog to work in Bronze in any way pretty much, so yes, had to give that up.
Also, there don't really seem to be any AU/WSP light bots playable in Bronze except the Gepard (and that too only for the time being probably). Kind of weird for new players, if they buy something new except the Gepard they end up being outmatched.
What should the next AU purchase after the Rog be? Except the slot, I mean.
Thanks everyone! Any other advice is welcome and appreciated.

2) Once I do get bored of grinding which will probably be sooner rather than later, what should I do? 1) Keep experimenting with your hangar and different bots and setups, including those you don't think you'll like. I didn't really think I'd like the Patton based on its stats, but one of my favorite bots is the 4X CRV Pin Patton. 2) Practice doing things you aren't good at. For me, it's aiming, particularly with Pinatas, as plasma and Orkans have spoiled me. There's just no way to get bored doing those two things. Regarding next gold purchase, the Wiki is your friend.

I would recommend using that Rog when you get to high bronze/low silver 4/6 4/9 respectively along with mostly mediums. If you plan on staying around bronze and low silver for a while a gepard will serve well however it may get nerfed. Gold wise orkans are always good especially in higher tiers

Thanks for the advice. What I'm currently doing is upgrading everyone to Level 3, then to 4. I bought a Golem, stuck a Thunder + Taran + Pinata on it. Got to Yamantau, Natashas, Rhinos etc. Got wrecked, shelved it.
In the meantime, I've got around 3.5k AU burning a hole in my pocket. Getting Galahad before Gold Tier would be useless, so I guess I don't really have anything to buy with AU if I intend to stay in Bronze for the time being...
Aphids would maybe be an exception, they look like the ultimate trolling weapon. And from what I've read so far, they can still be used effectively in Silver and to some minor degree in Gold.
Regarding someone pointing me to the Wiki and articles, thanks for the advice but I've read and re-read the Wiki and various guides many times over now. It's just that when the guides go something like 4th slot -> Orkans -> Galahad/5th slot, I don't have much to buy with AU because all purchases from this point on except more weapons (Aphid) and Gepards (which I don't want another copy of, a 5 x Gepard hangar isn't for me) would push me higher than I can currently work with.

Hmm... Rhino, never seen Rhino in Low Silver nevermind high bronze... must be the MM playing up, I find Golem works better with orkan. A Rocket golem is a bit like a DB in Low Silver A Boa is one of the best robots to use throughout the tiers... maybe a bit limited in gold but still good

Yeah, Boas seem to be used very widely and seem to hold their own...
It's a shame there aren't more light bots to use. The fast/light glass cannon play style is a lot more fun for me than sitting on xzy health and moving like a glacier.

Iv been running into rinos and lances now and then in high bronze (possibly low psilver if I'm being bumped) they plot through the team like butter despite being unskilled pilots with low % ratios aka bought gold for them and learning in higher tier

Iv been running into rinos and lances now and then in high bronze (possibly low silver if I'm being bumped) they plot through the tram like butter despite being unskilled pilots with low % ratios aka bought gold for them and learning in higher tier low win % generally frequently bumps players down a tier or 2. I know that max tier players with 35% or under winrates often come up against my low gold hangar.

Study the MM guide, shoot for 400'ish points. 1/6 meds are plenty capable, and you can run a 2/9 Gep at similar MM lvl. Don't be afraid to mix weapon lvls, I find low lvl light weapons with high lvl heavy's work good. Upgrading your bot should be the absolute last thing you do, or maybe never do. All bot upgrades boost your MM farther than the health/speed boost it provides. Build a farm hanger, then build a silver hanger and upgrade into gold.
