Ok, so I emptied out my resources again and this time got 2 new things.
The first was the MG12 (finally), which I was able to max out right away cause I had that many blueprints for it. Almost makes me wish I never went the Viper12 route...almost. As weak as the Viper12 is at close range, it's a beast at mid range and if you catch any reds out in the open, it's virtually a guaranteed kill.
Anyway, I tried the MG12 first on Eclipse, cause that build causes me a lot of problems when I go head to head with it. I gotta say, I think I was playing it wrong cause I didn't have much luck with it. Even maxed, it took way too long to kill healthy mechs, even up close. I know my Chimera is still woefully underleveled and I know fully maxed pilot/gun combo puts the MG12 at over 1M damage per mag and mine is sitting at 600k right now, but still, I thought this thing would shred faster. Then, I paired the gun with Surge as a possible AT12 replacement. This worked better as I tended to be closer, and even though I tried to warm up the gun during the dash, it still takes a bit to get going. I'll keep this build in my CPC hangar but I feel like AT12 still does damage faster even though I could not find any comparisons between AT12 and MG12.
I decided to try something else and noticed that I had enough credits and blueprints to finally max my Bastion. A full maxed pilot/mech combo puts the Bastion at over 400k HP and mine is sitting at just over 300k. I had more luck/kills with the Bastion but I think I'm still playing it wrong. First off, implants. I have gold MG12 recoil reduction implant and purple damage and reload. I also have the gold Bastion blast damage implant. I'm thinking of taking off the blast damage implant and putting in an ability cooldown implant instead because I'm thinking that getting the shield up faster is better than the piddling extra damage the implant gives me. What do you all think?
I also need better tactics for the Bastion. I'd been using it like a berserker and charging reds and hammering away until I die. I can get 2-3 kills like this if I approach one red at a time. But, would it be better to keep the Bastion relatively still and hope prey come to me?
Anyone got any tips?
