Hi, Everyone -
Been a while since I've visited here, I hope you all are well. :-)
I was a latecomer to these forums here, but quickly became a fan after meeting some fellow Mender afficionados and hearing the term "Murder Turtle" for the first time.
Presently, I'm trying to describe to a new friend about one of the various nasty anomalies/oddities that I've seen in War Robots and my friend thinks I'm trolling. I'm not. I don't have video of the phenomenom, probably won't be able to get any since I haven't experienced this for a while now. But here's the best I can describe it:
1. It happens *immediately* when the battle starts and everybody spawns their first robot. Most of the time everyone on your team will experience it. But, sometimes only you and/or one other experience it.
2. You see what you think is/was like the flames from a couple of Mars turrets coming down at you. It always seems like two parallel streaks of fire coming toward me, curving down at me, from above and behind. Imagine a Hawk floating at its max height or slightly more, maybe 250m behind you and firing something like a hybrid set of Mars turrets and Ao Jun flames. Just worse. The streaks are much thicker than the Mars turrets, and even a bit fatter than the Ao Jun flames. Similar, but everything just amplified. Thicker, much faster, much more powerful. You only see the streaks for a brief moment. Then you're usually dead. If you survive, don't worry, you'll be dead in a few more seconds (from just about anything).
3. Most of the time, it seems like it happens to your entire team. And the battle is over in less than a minute most of the time. Hell, probably over in 30 seconds, It doesn't feel like one enemy toasted everybody. It feels like each member of the Red team had one of your Blue team members as their assigned victim. Unfortunately, I don't recall anything from the post-battle scoreboard.
4. I don't think it has anything to do with Curie, but my brain always associates it with Curie because it started happening and mostly happened right around/just after Curie was released on the live server. Thankfully the phenomenon was apparently fairly short-lived. IIRC, it was a thing for maybe a couple of weeks or so at best. Although I'm pretty sure I've seen it maybe once here, once there, and perhaps one more time between then and now. Most recently for me feels like maybe a couple months ago.
5. It could be a hack, I suppose. A few people spoke of it that way, but most of the time all you heard was, "「whiskey tango foxtrot」?" and you simply moved on, hoping you wouldn't experience it again soon. Mostly you wouldn't. Occasionally you might have two or three battles in a row in which it would happen.
I think that's about as much as I can give you as far as a description. Really hoping that someone here will come back with something like, "Hell yeah! I remember that!" Or, better yet, have some video recorded of an actual incident.
P.S. These days I'm playing my second account, which is 99.9% F2P. Spent about $7 over 7 months to go from brand new to mid-Masters II, which is a bit beyond my original account in much less time. The $7 was all gifted - $5 in Data Cubes from Pixonic and $2 from friends/Google Opinion Rewards. I still rock the original account once in a while. And just yesterday, I updated the Mender a tad with some newer stuff in my Inventory. Been a long time since I've piloted my ol' Mender much. It might be different in some ways, but overall it still flexes the same attitude as my prior version: "I'm not here to heal you. Just stay outta my way and I'll get us all home safe and sound." Here's a link a Google Photos album with some pictures of my "new" Mender setup, and most importantly a video of it's first time in battle, last night. I hope y'all check it out. :-)
