Paylarium have moved all Disruptors to in game currency, anyone use these weapons as I have read they best used with auto target off as they are more effective firing near a target as opposed to actually aiming at it.

I’m a big fan of the Disruptor class of weapons. I use an EN8 on my Shadow or Eclipse; some other mechs. I’ve got the EN12s but haven’t upgraded them yet. I’ve been impressed with the damage the EN16 dish out from players and AI. They’re best used firing within groups or slightly to the side of a target. Satisfyingly fun as you gain the skill to use them. Especially on maps that have the potential to bottleneck mechs. That said, it’s definitely not a melee weapon. Straight on hits just get you the default damage. A glancing shot gets to multiple strikes and more damage. Sparring with them is the equivalent of popping out with a shot and hoping to get a red hiding behind a wall. The legendary reload and radius implants are worth it IMHO if a player commits to using them consistently in a hanger. My implants are on the legendary missile pilot which may contribute to my favorable opinion of them.

I only have purple implants: damage, reload and radius. Do you guys think its still worth it to get this weapon? I'm looking at the 16EN version to throw on Guardian but I'm also thinking of instead getting the 12EN version to throw on one of my maxed 24EN mechs such as KS, Aegis, Redeemer.
I used to think this weapon was laughable but this new meta has me rethinking this gun. I don't have any good missile pilots so I would probably have to dish out the Acoins for the Legendary but will likely use Neymar Junior for a while (but would have to remove my MR implants).
Anyway, I have enough credits to buy this at R5 and will likely have enough credits and acoins and bps to clone it relatively fast.
What do you think? Or should I wait and invest in the Pod Gun?

I can be redundant and repetitive so I say go for it. They’re fun and effective. 16s on Guardian, Gatecrasher or Panther is effective. Or one on your Shadow for funz. EN12s are great on a lot. (Eclectic Stalker build?) Neymar would give you that extra foot speed for getting into position or out of trouble. I think the reload time is convenient enough that the epic implant is good enough, but gold is very good. The ruptor implants pop up as a group fairly frequently.

Thanks! I think I'll go the 12EN route because I have more mech options. Aegis for the dome shield, KS for the speed and Redeemer for the GTFO ability. Heck, I might even throw it on Eclipse for fun.

Yeah, you’ll definitely have options w/ the EN12s. I’ve run the 8s on Eclipse and that’s good fun. I imagine redeemers would be a blast.

I've lost way more mechs to pod guns so I'd go for those.

I agree, Eclipse is fun with these though not as effective as NLs.

Ok, I did pick up the Disruptor 12 and finally took the plunge this morning to rank it up and clone it. So far, I've run it on two mechs, Killshot and Aegis. The KS was fun, popping in and out of cover to take a shot. TBH, fun as it was, I wasn't scoring a lot of hits, and since I haven't taken the plunge with my mods yet, my KS is very fragile and prone to one shot kills. On the Aegis, it's a different story. In terms of time to kill and number of hits, in comparison with my usual DL8/16 build, I kinda think I like the Disruptor better. Yes, it might be shiny new toy syndrome but I do like how it works. I'm sure OU812? already knows all this, but bear with me. 1. There is NO target lock, so every shot you make is up to you. Yes, this makes longer range shots challenging but all you have to do is lead the target a bit. You really don't want a clean head on shot with this gun anyway. 2. Projectile speed is slow, and I used to laugh at reds when they were firing at me and I was running circles around the projectile. BUT...if you're not paying attention and don't see it in time, you WILL get hit. So far, firing this at both AI and humans who aren't paying attention seems to get the same results. 3. Shooting and hitting mechs who are camping around a corner is a breeze. This morning, to my absolute delight, I nailed a human Gatecrasher HR16 who was hiding on that map with only 3 control points - you all know where - and he was doing that glued to the low cover and lob missiles at mechs fighting for the centre beacon. I'd already tried nailing him with my Seeker, but failed, so I hopped into my Aegis, got up on to the side platform, shield down, took aim and nailed him. It was SO satisfying. Winning that game and not seeing him in a MVP position was doubly satisfying. 4. Aegis is a pretty good platform for the Disruptor 12. It plays similar to the GB16 Panther, where it rocks for area denial type of play. Thanks to the Dome shield, I can take my time placing my shots and I can usually get at least 2 shots off during the Dome time, and can still do pop out and shoot for some risky shots or even just stick an arm out and fire one gun. In looking at the stats, there is a field for Shield Bypass 10%. Does this mean that there's a 10% chance of it bypassing shields? Does this include the multi layer shields? Anyway, so far so good with this gun. I didn't think much of it when it first came out, but now I'm really enjoying it.
