I have this strange but probably totally unjustified suspicion noting Pixonic's past behaviour that the clan base-station is a dud. A freebie like the Kid titan.
Everyone is rushing to pour Thorium into the Stare-base and when thorium levels bottom out (to Pix's liking) than they will introduce a new base station which has to be levelled up all over again.
Anyone has any insights/thoughts on this? Or did I miss some publication where this is explained?

My thoughts are this is hugely beneficial to Pixonic because clan membership promotes spending. They might introduce new features to the base if they see too much Th laying around, but for now I think the upkeep for many benefits is so high that it will suffice.
And I have no doubt at some point they'll close the "loophole" for one person clans such as mine to curb getting free resources, as meager as they may be.

Start with the the starbase, then maybe an international space station, then who knows, perhaps a galaxy base. |

Completely missed that but it has been pointed out in other threads: since regular clan tasks were replaced by thorium ones, it is a nerf. It will take a while to build up base to start producing anything of value.

Now THAT would make people pissed off You'll invade other clans' bases but since robots are too big for them... you'll have tanks. And of course extra new currency just for them, Fartinium. |

Pix gives a rats you know what they just want to monetize the game. The newer bits are just reconfiguring versions of prior bots. I stay in just to screw around but once I figured out their scam I NO LONGER BUY ANYTHING. Game will survive for a while until a better game comes around

I've been slowly leveling up my Starbase. but have only "activated" one feature. The 20% exp. bonus for pilots during the PILOT RUSH LEADERBOARDS... the results were meah, so-so, and not all that noticeable from my normal Pilot Rush Leaderboads climbs in the past. I have gotten some request from jr. clan members to activate the Shipyard (but can't, because its not available yet... and will do so). I am really big into a min/max game strategy... I find min/max technical and fun for meta-gaming any game I play. I even have a lengthy write-up on min/max for Walking War Robots on my server.
All in all; I think the Starbase is another ploy by Pixonic. Albeit, so far, to actually game more or watch more ads... all to complete the daily Clan Tasks for Thorium. I figure these daily tasks, compensate for the daily activation fees, more or less. YMMV, but I am looking to leverage the Starbase to keep my very low p2w account active and moving forwards with my overall min/max strategy. (very low p2w = I don't really give Pixonic anymore than I would give to Hollywood watching movies in theaters... but I still do that occasionally with the fam. too)

The problem Pixonic have is their rep is so low they've got only one app/game that they can make money with, so they have to make this as big as possible.

Rule 1: If you can't afford to lose it, don't fly it.
No skill whales be getting pissed if 6 reds in cheap f2p mech were ganking their $1000 mech for loot.
Dayumm - Looting in War Robots might make the game quite a bit more spicy/interesting. And of course there'd need to be a new currency, for insurance.

Most probably already know this, but you can get 100 free Thorium every day by going to War Robots shop. For bigger clans it's nothing but if you have one person clan to just get some extra rewards it adds up. Not sure how long it will last but have been getting those for couple of weeks now, so it's safe to say those freebies probably paid for one upgrade by now.

It will take a while to build up base to start producing anything of value. lets not forget MK2 Starbase...MK3 Starbase.... or better yet.. once they have sold all of those they regurgitate the OG starbase style we have now and label it Ultimate, but with a snazzy paintjob on it instead..... |
