Money grab, probably, but given what a headache the whole star base thing is I can see it lessening the advantage most clans have over f2p because it’s such an over complicated and boring system. The clan bonuses were pretty worthless before, and are both a pain in the arse and worthless now, so big spenders will still big spend to get more Borium, but most just won’t bother.
Youre running under the assumption that F2P clans were/are actually using the system beyond the aspect of just grouping friends together, most were/are not.
With a new max of 10, many clans are getting royally screwed over, F2P and P2W alike, but for very different reasons. This new system will entirely decimate the clans, and I suspect its already backfiring on Pigsonic. They will likely realize this sooner than later... But as they rarely fix anything properly, they will likely double and triple down on stupid, as they always do.
To clarify, it’ll lessen the gap because non-ftp clans who were using the old system aren’t using the new one. I’m in an S clam with a mix of heavy spenders, minor spenders, and a few ftp. We started with 50k Borium and have each contributed another 2500 each. Even so, the Spacestation is at level 20, members are capped at 30 rather than 40-something, and it can only make very small quantities of keys and power cells. In actual fact it hasn’t produced a thing because it’s taken so much to get to that level. Accessing potentially useful stuff requires an even bigger investment. So far it’s been a complete waste of effort, and is plain boring! I want to shoot robots, not muck around with some complicated and pointless resource farm. I agree though, Pix will double down on the stupidity before reworking it after the damage is done. |

 I just realised my clan had 5 Thorium tasks per day after I finally cleared out 2 old tasks that were hanging there before the Starbase came online. I had to use ads to clear 2 tasks that had ridiculously high requirements to get points! I was wondering why my best clan member always donated more thorium per day than me. |

What we lost with thorium was 2 "free" defence boosters and 2 "free" attack boosters per day. Over time that adds up. For example, if I am F2P then maybe during the week I stock up and then on Saturday I've got some time to play and I can then use those boosters. Now, I don't know...

The workshop isn't too bad because it doesn't take much effort to think about/use. This is just too complicated.

Well our Starbase is now level 30, and just like levelling a bot the costs ramp up quickly. It’s also very linear with little room for customisation. Returns are pitiful. Given that most powerful clans are full of spenders that just buy whatever they want anyway, and smaller weaker / ftp clans can’t produce anything useful I can’t see who this thing is supposed to appeal to. I’m no longer donating any Thorium other than what I win incidentally - it’s not worth the effort of watching an advert or two. The whole Starbase idea is lame.

I haven't had a chance to log in but from what I am hearing on FB War Robots page is some clans have lost player slots now. Sounds like the "rework" to clans is like what they did to drones, Basically, screw us out of the hard work we put into leveling up our clan and make us start all over again. My clan has 9 somewhat active players out of 36 right now. Only 4 of them active in clan chat just a few times a week. Only 3 have donated Thorium so far.
We used to have 5 clan tasks per day that gave some few resources we could actually use for something. Now, 3 clan tasks give negligible thorium that just sits there doing nothing.
Seems like this is a death blow to small clans because people like me will probably be switching from a clan they have been in for YEARS just to try and stay competitive with mid/low spending habits because of the new Starbase rewards.

If Pixonic could fix the reporting features in the Starbase (active days, member days, etc) I’m going to start booting non-contributors ASAP. Freaking Pixonic to release a broken, un-finished “feature” to the game that leaves us casual gamers in the line of fire. Freaking active members who don’t contribute. ZERO

ZERO One Japanese player that never talks magically vanished when I asked him to donate Thorium….I tolerated his low trophies and sometimes negative score for quite sometime and that is how he repaid me.  One more upgrade and my clan capacity will be at 35 and I can start recruiting again! |

Clan rewards were worthless before the rework, but they’re worth even less now. Yeah, I get what you're saying, but the logic floor has fallen out of my 1.5 player clan. Clan rewards have always been negligible, but better than nothing, so we've had 'solo clans'. Now, a 1 (or 2) player clan is only getting a dribble of 'clancoin', at least until several upgrades are done. The logic under clan rewards is now more like 'strength in numbers', provided those numbers are all contributing. I'm not against that. It might even engender some loyalty, or at least a sense of investment. |

how do clans track whom donated and who hasn't? Not that it matters to me, clan of one, and I only did it for the clan tasks a rewards, but now since its whorium, and for now useless. Yet another feature we didn't need or ask for, to keep our mind off the real issues in game.

Out of curiosity, what is considered heavy spending and minor spending these days? I tallied up my War Robots expenditures to about 70$ over last 2-3 months just to bring my hangar up to speed but so far have zero meta bots or weapons. In order to get to that meta level I'd probably need to spend that amount every month, if not more. Other than that I agree that the starbase is a boring feature that adds nothing to the game. But it's just like the orbital strikes, it's a new revenue source so Pixonic will press on with it. |
