What game mode was this? FFA? I'm kinda assuming so, given he was using SR12s. They're doing well on today's map. Given how slow they fire though I assume it was less about using his ability and more that a maxed Lacewing has the same HP as an Onyx (198k).

We were both camped out on opposite sides of the bridge. I was stuck there because I was getting bumrushed by multiple reds the entire match and it was my turn to have the lobotomy squad.

The lobotomy squad just totally sucks the joy out of CPC. 😮💨

The lobotomy squad just totally sucks the joy out of CPC. 😮💨 I'm switching to 5v5DM for awhile to work on the Team Player task. I've got 5 bots that need it to finish off their individual tasks. Gonna be a long slog, but I've finished off 8 bots so far.

He is a YT content creator and gets new stuff for free, but upgrading the items is the responsibility of the CC's, his latest video is about trying various builds with the new bot so you may be in that video.

TBH, I haven't seen the Lacewing yet, but I'm not feeling it. I like the model as it gives Gundam vibes or power armour vibes, but jumping while dropping a mine sounds like a shart and run away from the mess. Did you get a chance to see it perform? How high was the jump? Was it like a Lancer or more like the Tengu? If it is like Lancer, that means you can use it strategically as well as tactically. But if it's like Tengu, then the shart analogy fits.

The jump is the same height as Lancer but you can maneuver in the air. Also, like the Raven in War Robots, the ability has a 2nd jump stored up. 1 mph faster speed than Lancer (26mph vs 25), 24EN and 198k HP maxed. Honestly I am not really feeling it either. I'm way more interested in an improved version of Tengu than this.
I wish they had thought this one through better. When it comes to new mechs I am most interested in ones like Nomad, that emphasize maneuverability vs. the magic mech nonsense like Seeker. But it seems like they threw the Lancer upgrade under the bus by giving it mines instead of a shield.

Some extra things to note about the jump ability. Unlike War Robots's Raven, Lacewing can't jump again while in mid-air. Its feet have to be touching the ground for you to jump. So it'll never offer a higher or longer jump than Lancer. Also, if you use your first jump, it doesn't recharge until after you use the 2nd. The ability cooldown for Lacewing is 7 secs to Lancer's 5 secs. So there you can pair two hops quicker than Lancer, but then you're stuck on the ground for a bit longer.

Thanks! I guess I need to see this in action. At this point, I'm not sure how this ability qualifies the Lacewing to be a Legendary mech. Maybe it's the max HP?
TBH, this is just one of those really inconsistent things in this game. When I first started playing, I thought that as gear rarity goes up, this meant that the gear's ability or usefulness goes up too.
For example:
Common gear only has one ability, ie, Lancer can jump, Paragon moves a bit faster, Killshot could dash and do damage with the dash, etc. But, of course that logic breaks down really fast. Panther's Stasis Field has infinite HP and can slow enemies. Guardian can crash any mech ability and empty all weapon magazines. Surge can dash and apply EMP but Onyx just has a missile with a big splash. Redox's ability does instant damage, plus sustained damage, plus stasis. Orion's ability can apply stasis from across the map and make the target take additional damage AND have the debuff jump to another mech.
See, it's all over the place.

Yeah, the classification system is total nonsense for mechs. It holds up better for weapons but not completely. Everything released now is basically legendary and half of it is garbage. Lacewing definitely shouldn't be legendary. Not really sure it should be epic either. I mean if Stalker is just rare, then...
Lacewing's HP is solid and better than some heavy mechs, but to put in perspective a maxed Seeker is only 5k less health, not even counting its shield, and a Hemlock is 6k more. A Nomad is 17k less, but it has the damage reduction. And all the medium tanks are way better. My guess is they don't want people thinking that maybe a really legendary Lancer will come out some day so they hold off spending on this.
Again, it's too bad. I would like a real legendary Lancer, although I would also want them to first fix the targeting that makes shooting while jumping a pain. Given how accurate AI is, they could really have done a ton here, shields, 32EN, and it still wouldn't have been OP.

I'm surprised they didn't add Damage Reduction to Lacewing when it jumps or something silly like that. With Vortex and Nomad, I thought for sure that damage reduction was gonna be the new OP thing.

I guess it would depend on how much damage reduction was, but a jump mech needs a pretty quick cooldown, since you can miss the jump, so DR could have made it pretty invincible. A lite shield would have seemed a better fit. Something like Seeker that can take a initial shot. With a heavier shield, you'd need a separate cooldown timer or else it would be always on.
I really don't like damage reduction as is. I have no problem with the concept, but there needs to be a visual indicator when it's on or off.

Yeah, a shield would work perfect as it would protect during the first jump and then the pilot would have to decide if a second jump is worth it or not.
As for the Seeker, I barely notice the shield as a sneeze would blow it away!
