I was just watching my friend play war robots earlier today when his entire team was demolished by what is believed to be tanker/over spender. My friend plays in the bronze 1 league.
This tanker had a ochokochi (level 5), and a lynx (level 7) on his squad in the bronze league. His other robots were normal for the bronze league, but all he needed was an ochokochi to take over the game. He also had some other goofy weapons that I haven't heard of since I have returned to the game 2 months ago, but I can safely assume that those weapons don't belong in bronze 1 either.
The players stats at the end were 3 assists, 13 kills, and 8 beacons + 2.8 million damage. Whether he was a tanker or a spender, pixonic needs to do somethin' about it. I've also been seeing way to many highly upgraded Bedwyrs (one was around level 100) in expert league with level 20 flamethrowers.
If this guy bought these items, then pixonic must raise the ability to buy them into higher league, (even though it would help their crazy money making, because people would buy low tier items while their in low tier leagues, but it's not like thats not already happening) so that they can't become op.
However, if they were a tanker, then it may be a little hard to stop them.
What do you guys think?

Once you enter the leagues (bronze), match making for battles goes out the window in terms of players with similar abilities. The goal then becomes for Pixonic to ensure that the win-lose ratio is around 50%-50%.

OP, I just ran up an account over the week-end and it is in Bronze 1 now. At level 6, offers were available for non meta gear. Saw a mk 1.3 Ocho with junk weapons at about level 10. Had to do a double take. Couldn’t believe it. At level 15, in Private, everything was available. That included Pads and all.
The first league where you can tank is Silver. Didn’t pay full attention to the going ons but below silver, I think, you only lose a max of -2 league points for a sixth place on the losing team. That makes tanking impossible. Also, remember that players in Bronze 1 will be matched with players much higher. Like Silver and Gold.
What you saw was a spender. That’s how the game is. I bet it encourages others to spend too. Resources are dirt cheap low in the leagues. I had offers for 40 day premium for AUD$1.99!! Purple pads were AUD$1 for 1 pad. 10K Au for like a dollar. If you spend a little you get a lot back (relative to higher leagues). Pix is trying their hardest to facilitate the first transaction.
As for Expert league, anything goes as stated by Pix. If Experts are matched with Champs than why shouldn’t everything go in terms of power. Expert and Masters are for F2Ps and low spenders.
I think Pix has sufficient numbers of new players joining the game. They most likely want to keep the spenders and those F2Ps who will play a lot (watch lots of ads too) and put up with the power disparity. The rest can go. They most likely have an ideal balance of proportions. At some point, IMO, too many F2Ps is a problem. It would be too boring for spenders and they wouldn’t spend as much when they know MK3 gear isn’t needed to club. I doubt whether F2Ps who don’t play much actually pay for the software licensing. So best not to have those sort of players.
The reality is that this is a P2W game and IMO it will remain P2W until the lights are turned off.

Just ask any drug dealer, the first hit is free.
