Hello, its been about 3-4 years since I last played the game, few days back decided why not and started again, thankfully I was able to access my original account with the existing items as is. I've been grinding things out over the last few days, hit diamond and lots of stuff seems to have changed. Would like some advice on what do I build or focus on next. To add on I am a F2P player. Regarding the hangar, the falcon has got the traditionalist pilot skill. Also I did get a dread scald, cryptic hazard, couple pilots, couple components from the black market/data pads. On a sidenote - I've been encountering quite a few annoying robots, like the stealth robot with 2 wheels, the scorpion one which teleports, the one which rolls around in a ball, among others and would also like some tips on how to take em down.

You left before I started playing this game and I remember I had to suffer countless scorpion attacks with absolutely no way to avoid them. Fortunately, the only bot that can’t escape in your hanger is Ares. Do you have something else instead of that bot?
Try to grind the event and you may win an Ochokochi or Ophion.
Watch Ads to save up black market keys and if you save them up and wait for 2x bonus then it’s possible to open super chest 3-4 times without paying a cent! It will take time but opening free black market gold chest during black market leaderboard and 2x will also build up your T4 items that you’ll need.
Lastly, enter all giveaways. With luck you can pass the f2p wall that is almost impossible to overcome without the latest stuff.

My advice 1. Sit down, take a deep breath, and remember WHY you left the game years ago 2. Now factor in that TODAYS game is at least 5X to 23X more insane, rigged, dysfunctional, crooked, and evil than that 3. Swallow 4. Don’t walk, RUN!

Please auto-subscribe me to your newsletter, thanks. Why do I stilllll play and pay? A: It’s still fun. B: It’s a sunk-cost death spiral addiction lunacy thing. I do control my spending BUT not carefully enough and I squint and cough when I look at the numbers. blackheart You seem nice, and not mega-rich. Do what BB suggests. You’ll thank us later.

Yes I have been watching ads to get keys, but forgot about the 2x bonus and spend em everytime I get 1k keys, will start to save now thank you. Also ares is my mid range attack build it still does okayish from the matches I've played till now, but it is a glass cannon. I think I can replace it perhaps with either a leech or nemesis or grind out a newer bot. I did win some Ophion components, might go ahead and build that then I guess.

Real, it is starting to come back, sad matchmaking, tankers and just broken meta. Couple matches in I started getting killed by tankers spamming maxed out hurricanes and other ranged rockets. But yes, I think my overall thought process was to enjoy how much ever I can till it becomes not possible to enjoy at all. Thank you for the heads up.

I quit the game 1-2 years ago after playing for 5 years. Just came back about 2 months ago and I'm sort of getting the hang of things. So many crazy weapons and tanks that I have never heard of. Trust me it's going to be tough though. My first 50 games back had a winning rate of 15%. I was forced to leave my old clan because when I came back it seemed like only one other member was ever online. Eventually I found a new, much better one though. They showed me the ropes. To learn more about how the game was I just went back to watch a bunch of Manni videos. Seems to me that the robots and Titans have just got even crazier than before.

Try not to care about wins or losses. Will set you free. And you are not in control of the win rate irrespective what gear you play unless you squad.
If u r a f2p then manage your league or limit your levelling of items to stay low.
If you care about wins, want to run the best gear you can and want to rise in the leagues then there is a bit of good news. The points system is pushing everyone into Champions League. Champions League is diluted to an extent that a F2P who plays a lot can have a decent go. However, you will go down most times to meta gear. Disparity is too great.
Save BM tokens and the blue pads.
Best F2P gear include typhoon, lynks, bendy bullets, shotguns, hazard family, even pulsars, especially sonic and magnetars, luch, Indra, rook, titan sonics, Indra weapons, imugi Loki, ravana, khepri, skyros. Probably missed a few. As a f2p you will have issues with drones, modules and pilots. Do the best u can there.
If you are willing to spend a little bit than buy cheap big batches of keys a couple times and you are likely to pick up most of the above stuff. Play the gold chest during a x2 super chest opening bonus. If you buy, buy at the start of the season so you won’t miss out on the x2 rush. Unless you are short of cash or ideologically against spending then grinding makes no sense vs enjoyment of the time you spend in game.

You can (If you're lucky) also save your keys for the whaleboard (leaderboard) and you may have a chance of 2x speed in the black market which can give goodies.

update i opened couple gold chests and got one superchest during a 1.5x blackmarket event few days back and today used the dgems from the anniversary rewards to buy the 9k keys offer since 2x blackmarket event and opened 2 superchests and got the following robots/titans - newton, erebus, stellar sirius weapons - yeoje x2, skadi x2, claw, hammer, fainter x2, magnetar x2, prisma, snaer drone - showdown majority of the weapons limited edition ones still yet to get one of the newer meta robots, but yes the advice to save keys and wait for the event was solid

As somebody who has returned to the game after 2 year absence I will say this, at the risk of being unpopular: while I'm not advocating falling into Pixonic's spend traps, I think that paying a bit of money for a game you play a lot is fair. As a PC player, for example, I recently paid 13$ for a game that took me 6.5 hours to complete and War Robots easily provides more hours of entertainment. With that being said I got couple of those 1.99 and 2.99 deals for keys and with 200% superchest bonus got quite a few newer weapons and bots (very much similar stuff to OP's). Of course none of it is meta but it's enough to have some fun and earn some silver in extermination mode.

after much mulling, taking into consideration what T34 and easystrider said about buying cheap keys during 2x bonuses and multiple bait 23k key offers from pixonic, i succumbed and bought couple of the 23k key deals for 2.99, used em towards the end of the previous 2x bonus and todays 2x bonus and ended up with quite a number (including dupes (mid rng)) of new robots, titans, weapons, pilots etc. Will spend the next couple months building loadouts and levelling them all up i guess. going ahead i hope this is a one time spend which should make things more enjoyable for a while and should not repeat unless its a very very beneficial offer within a set limit. also thanks for the information tabbylion (https://war-robots-forum.freeforums.net/post/722305), will grind out free keys seriously. ps: i won a scorpion and its pilot, time to get back at those suckers now.

As a former low-spending player, best advise I can give is to be VERY careful where you spend your resources.
I generally avoid the current META, as not only will those items likely get nerfed soon, the next release is very likely to be a solid counter. Look carefully at the trends and try to find somewhat older options that works reasonably well. Then STICK TO YOUR CHOICES. This gives you the advantage of being intimately familiar with your hangar, which goes a long way towards being able to counter the objectively-superior new stuff.
Where possible, use equipment that you win "for free" through various channels. Save your Gold and Silver to level up only stuff you want to keep.
Use Special Edition Bots and Weapons where available. Same upgrade costbas the Standard versions for 10% better performance. Don't waste resources upgrading the inferior versions past maybe Level 6.

Yes gotcha, thank you. Just posting a Hangar update as well - The ares still the weakest link, tried out fenrir and it kept getting destroyed easily due to mainly rust am currently trying out other robots/setups to replace the ares.

Ares is an interesting choice, not that it's been out of the meta for several years...a lot of players don't instinctiveley respond to it correctly. But it's still somewhat fragile and can be taken down pretty easily by a player who knows what they're dealing with. Raven is a legendary Skill Bot, in a similar category with Hover and Strider. If you build and play it well, you can make the meta work for the win. If you play them at an intermediate level you WILL get destroyed. Great fun if it works for you. Fenrir is actually still a great investment, but it needs to be levelled WAYYYYY up to shine. I have a Level 7 in Master III that dies easily when I draw a match against higher players, but my main account bordering on Champ League does reasonably well...at Mk2 level 12 with a max-level Pilot. Also note that it has 2 distinctive playstyles depending on whether you use Bernadette or Nicholas as your pilot. Best thing about Fenrir is that it doesn't really care what's meta...it performs as well now as it did 2 years ago, and will probably be the same 2 years from now, meaning any resources you sink into it will never be wasted.

Ares a glass cannon of sort, now with shieldbreaks being used everywhere and teleporting bots which can get into its shield, its tricky to run it successfully. Yep raven the most fun to run, the Legendary Pilot makes it all the more better. Its my primary beacon runner, but yes needs a bit of careful play but nevertheless solid fun bot. I ran a level 7 bernadette fenrir, it does get chewed out pretty fast perhaps might focus a bit more resources into it and try again in a while.
