Well, just because I'm a glutton for punishment, I've tried out two of the new rotating game modes - "Cat and Mice" and "War Robots Classic".
In Cat and mice, it's a pure beacon capture play. The mice have three level one Cossacks, I have no idea what the Cat gets, though I've seen Curies, Behemoths and Ao Juns. No idea how the Cat's are equipped and leveled. Why don't I know? Well, after literally 20 attempts, I was never the Cat, only a mouse. Needless to say, the only game we mice actually won, was on Springfield, where one other mouse and I took turns spawning at opposite ends of the map. The cat would have to fly his Ao Jun from one end to the other in order to kill us and turn beacons. We just ran out the clock. I did not stay in all games, only playing about 5. Bailing out the other 15 attempts, just as soon as I was a mouse again. And the absolutely cool thing about this mode, even if I had the most captured beacons - I always came in fourth out of four places, with zero rewards. Not a single piece of silver. Baconator Grade: F
In the War Robots Classic mode, there are no: Passive Boosters, Drones, Pilots, Titans, Battleships. Sounds pretty cool, right? Especially in my Gold 2 Baby Smurf account with 4 Griffins and a Leo. Except Pixonic doesn't matchmake by league level. Nope - Everything from Living Legends to Bronze 3 in the same game. I played twice, managing about 250k damage in each game, mostly by hiding near spawn on Yam and Dreadnaught, and corner shooting. My poor gunship Griffin couldn't even scratch the paint on some Living Legend's Lynx. It never even registered taking any damage. Grand total in rewards from both games, a wonderous feeling of inadequacy and - 29K silver. Baconator Grade: D

Sounds like typical Pigsonic nonsense to me. Frustrate (dumb) players into paying for stuff.
Frustrate (smart) players into not playing.

Cat and mouse was kinda slow and boring.
Second one was “ sniper”. Was fun and got you to really pay attention to where you were in relation to your enemies. Skill deff was required.
Third one that I absolutely LOVED and even sent in a kudos to Pix. Was War Robots Classic. Freaking great time with that one. Even busted out the Android six pak hangar and got second. So I don’t wanna hear about how “unfair” it was. Skill my peeps. Skills.
They do pay pittance, but if a six pak hangar can be used, does it really need to pay highly? Especially if the game is skill based more so than the regular MM.
I sent the ticket to tell them how cool it was and could it please remain as a mode to choose from.

I was very surprised when I tried out War Robots classic. I was fully expecting a pre-made hanger of griffins and Lancelot, not my own hanger

For the cat and mice, the cat gets a fully mk3 hanger that would do very well in high end champs the mice gets a massive joke

Classic mode is the stupidest 「dookie」 Iâve seen in a long time. 1) itâs random mode, not domination 2) silver awards are cut by at least a factor of ten 3) all leagues are lumped together. In both games I tried, pilots varied from Champion to Bronze. 「whiskey tango foxtrot」. 「fluffernutter」 you, Pixonic.
Iâve got to disagree with you, Eradicator. Every single game I played consisted of 2 or 3 maxed champ hangars just wrecking face. In one game, team 2 had two champs while team one had a master as its highest player. God only knows what the bronze and silver pilots thought.
Well. Iâll tell you what. They thought that it was bull「dookie」, that if this was the way it was in the âold daysâ then they love the current MM system and by golly letâs find that credit card again. 「fluffernutter」ing stupid.

Having seen bronze players in a few matches, I decided to run what they run. So the six pak hangar came out.
Will it do very well against meta? No it will not. Meta is meta. There is a reason it is called that.
Can you run a 1.6 Jesse armed with 1.6 pinatas up a Goat’s arse? No you cannot.
Having done the same experiment in Champs with said six pak hangar before where I was but a speck of dust to some robots and weapons. I ask; Does it get instantaneously vaporized in this mode? No it does not. With one caveat, as long as you treat it like you are not in meta. Play very smart, conservative, and possible ranged and you very well stand a chance. Also, jump module or phase shift is a must to get outta trouble. But you CAN use lower gear.
Not all people will agree with what I’ve said or what pix did with this, but I found it to be a breathe of fresh air. And I’m looking forward to dragging out the lead hose Scavenger Griffin later today. Just used up all of my saved up silver and gold to max it because I finally found a time to use it......Now.

Funny thing, decided to checkout these new modes since with my aging hangar I can't play any other modes. So I DLed War Robots again, and as it was loading up I was thinking it has changed a lot since I played last. Finally when I got to hangar screen I realized that I downloaded World of Robots instead by mistake. Lack of 50,000 offers and other popups at the start should have tipped me off, duh!
Unlike some of my esteemed War Robots colleagues, I'm feeling more generous and will give classic mode C+ or even B-. I can at least 「fluffernutter」ING play this thing again- actually managed to place second on losing team with 7 kills to my name. As for 70k silver in rewards that I got... well, yea, you know there HAS to be a catch. If you play one of those modes and the match is balanced and rewards are decent then it means it's an end of the world and everybody probably will die soon anyway.
PS. Where's the cat and mouse mode? Was it a limited time thing?

PS. Where's the cat and mouse mode? Was it a limited time thing? I'm guessing that everyday there is a new mode Makes sense. So it will be either classic, cat/mouse or any other new modes they'll come up with. As to be expected, another catch by Pixo where it's not there all the time and rewards are such that you'll fall behind if you don't play other modes. I guess that will be me right there. Played some more and while I like the classic mode of course there always will be some d-bag showing up with meta gear. Still, I'll play it until Pixo nerfs that too.

Ok. The Qin sucked with geks. Think I may have 4 blights and give those a roll next time. Got 4 mk3 pinatas. But pretty sure I’ll get blasted out of the sky trying them.

The Marksman/Sniper game made me super tense. I liked the suspense though.
I won the first game of Cat & Mouse as a Mouse because while I don't think my teammates knew their role (maybe one of them did), I also don't think the Cat figured out that beacons win games. I never got to play as a Cat but I also lost the next couple of those games.
The Classic mode was fun, and I forgot how fast those games could run. They also really proved that my hangar actually IS strong as a counter-meta hangar when the Reds don't have all of their support options available to them.
Today is the Duel and...well, I went against an Expert II player who maybe landed one hit on me while I dismantled his bots one by one with my radiation Raven. I probably won't play Duel again because I imagine that getting an evenly leveled match is going to be like finding hen's teeth.
I like that Pixonic is putting these options out there. I think that this is kind of an unannounced "user survey" to see what people respond to by playing and what they don't.

So I don’t wanna hear about how “unfair” it was. Skill my peeps. Skills. I played a few games in classical mode yesterday and in one I got locked/suppressed/paralyzed and destroyed with bendy bullets behind cover by something obviously closer to meta than what I had. In another game I pulverized a charging gareth with my hades. In both cases the winner did not need any skills whatsoever. I'm grateful for classical mode but at the same time would not call it completely fair. No contradiction there either.

Played 3 cat and mouse and was the cat all 3 times. Easy wins... 5 bots to pick from and the mice were not bright. Pretty boring
Classic was neat and could be sweet if they matchmake better. Only one of 3 matches was anywhere close to a fair fight but i did enjoy fielding my raven and scavenger griffen for something different, kinda soured by the lack of a decent battle... One can hope.... Did i just say that... Damn this is pixo son!
Duel also has potential.. Only one in 3 was a fair fight... And i lost as his bots were better for the map and the opponent had some skills and matched his bots smartly. I like a good fight!
The other two matches i was up against diamond hangers ...which you notice real quick after that first volly. Pretty sure i saw a robot sh1t itself before exploding. Lol
Rewards are crap and we will see how long some of these modes last and if pix puts any further effort into any of them.
If some peeps like the new modes... I guess its a win.

Ok, I take some of it back.
Played the showdown mode 4-5 times. Set hangars, some battles TDM, others were beacon based. It was an interesting combination of bots and weapons, but all were at MK3, so no one player had an equipment advantage. Strategy and tactics baby!!! One thumb up for good gaming environment. One thumb down for yet again, pathetic rewards.
But then reality struck again just today, and it was 5v5 limited TDM. And of course you had Silver players up against Living Legend players. I did one match, came in 5th with my Smurf account which is just now getting its weapons leveled to "7". I'm surprised I didn't finish last, as a DB Griffin with just a single level 7 Orkan and the rest at 6 does virtually nothing to an MK3 Lynx. And that dude was all over our spawn. Total pass for me in the Smurf account. I suppose it would be worthwhile silver in the main account, that has a Champs worthy hangar. Officially sanctioned seal clubbing, yeah baby!!

Really enjoying the classic mode, too bad it's only once a week. Crappy rewards might actually have one big benefit here: since big meta spending players have very little to gain in this mode I'd think they will want to stay out. Not to mention, what's the point of big spending if you can't use most of your gear? Looks like it's going to be my weekly Saturday thing where I battle other misfits such as myself in my outdated hangar. Sure, once in a while somebody shows up who can almost one tap most of my hangar, but you know what, since I have taken out Natashas in my Tyr I have it coming. Plus, without the drones, titans and other crap meta feels a lot less oppressive. Just like in the old days. I'm yet to take a first place and I hardly ever score above million in damage, but it's all good fun. Look forward to seeing you all out there, I go by the same name in game as on this forum.

Getting to play long forgotten, for me, robots is a total win. Just 1.12ed an Au qin because it can actually be semi useful. Thank you again Pix. But for real, no sarcasm.

But on the other hand tulumbas might be too old school to be effective.

Finally played cat & mouse mode: Second place!? Five beacons, 「female dog」es, I won! On a serious note even though I applaud the creativity, how on earth anybody thought this would be fun in a long run? Being a cat must be lame too because all you do is chase from beacon to beacon hoping mice will either bail out the game due to boredom or make a stupid mistake. And zero rewards must be very appealing to all too.

For some reason....im always the cat. Ive discovered its faster to just hunt down and kill the mice. The mice rarely work as a team. I think that it would work since for some strange reason a concept of capturing beacons is still alien to many people. Not sure if any special cooperation between mice is needed, just a common sense. Mice should think of uncaptured beacons in this mode as cheese: you want cheese furthest away from the cat and with as few other mice as possible to avoid competition. I my last game I was down to my last mouse, sorry, bot, but so what. The cat never had more than one beacon and the game ended in ~4 minutes or so. Edit: Either way I think I'm done with this mode. Seems like a fun idea but only for few games, it gets boring after that. Edit2: Looking at the score board I posted above I think I get it: the player with only one beacon cap got the first place, so there must be also an incentive for mice to get killed as few times as possible. Interesting example of game theory in practice: mice can be either selfish and go for the top place (and potentially risk losing the game) or be unselfish and get the win (but possibly get the lower place).

Heh, wonder if only the top mouse gets any rewards. If that's the case then I think it's pretty clever. Because then the main incentive for a mouse is coming in first and not necessarily winning the game. Even more so if the top mouse gets some rewards in a lost game. Possibly I got outplayed by other mice above: I delivered the cheese and somebody else snacked it.
