So, hopping around in your speed-maxed green grasshopper, happily capping beacons and ruthlessly killing evil reds if they get in your way, what's the best weapon or other to equip?

Taran or Ork, I prefer Taran.

"What's the best weapon for a Cossack?"
"Really, any of them should kill it just fine." *rimshot*
I'll get my coat...

I' say a Orkan. You can hit and run. You not going to trade shots with a Cossack anyway. And the jumping around and extreme movements you need to do dance among the red heavies, Orkan with a splash is your best bet.

I don't use one nor do I plan to incorporate one into my hangar, I would use them with the old MM when I wanted to drops down to lower tiers and have some fun, Orkans were my preffered method of play with them since they're fragile and Orks can output damage quickly, but that's just me, I'm no expert in the field of grasshoppers.

I keep expecting to see the ire of Salty when someone takes a jab at Cossacks but he's been really quiet of late. Did he (she? Never was clear on Salty's gender, not that it matters) stop playing or just lose interest in the forum?

"What's the best weapon for a Cossack?" "Really, any of them should kill it just fine." *rimshot* I'll get my coat... But that's just not true. Unless you catch them off guard, killing a Cossack with Orkan or Tulumbas is nigh impossible. Punishers and (to a lesser degree) Molots are also challenging because Cossack has so small silhuette and can quickly take some distance or cover before the weapon spin-up. Taran requires a good aiming finger, but at least if someone misses with it, it's their own fault. Hydras work well, though.

I feel like Orkans are the best for Cossacks. With a Taran, you need to have pinpoint aim and that's pretty hard to do when you are jumping around.

I have a hydra on mine right now just because it's the most annoying build I could think of, but it only comes in for light bot beacon tasks

Orkan, much better for 'Drive by-s'.

Cossack with hydra is fun, but taran is more stronger. I vote for taran.

Ah, wanted to vote for the empty hard point..
Imagine hopping with a simple unarmed Cossak around and between heavy red bots.. This is trolling taken to the next level..

I have tried them all & I'd have to say Taran or Ork, depends on map/opponent

Although I voted taran, orkan would be a tie. But don't overlook the punisher either as its been vastly improved and has longer range. I'd be fine with any of those three.

At lower levels/leagues the Punisher then Taran will be effective at killing enemies as many can't handle it's evasive skills. At higher leagues however the Cossack is easily vapourised, you'll want to stay away from conflicts or if you're forced into them unload quickly and get away.
So either the Orkan/Tulu/Ecu will be the smarter long term choice.

You really shouldn't be stopping to fight anyone unless your picking off a crippled bot or already have a good number of beacons right off the spawn. But hey, even at level 12, on Yama & Dead City you can nab 2-3 beacons before people start paying attention. Great bot for beacon tasks or when trying for both Medals.

After some experimenting, I decided to cast my own vote on Tulumbas. It has the range to actively engage reds when needed (to aid a team mate with one extra volley, mostly) from a "safe" distance. It has enough of a punch to actually see a change in target health bar with just one weapon. It empties fully very fast and with single touch of a finger, allowing more concentration on movement.
Also the reload time feels almost like a bonus. On DC, the bot can get from one side of the map to the other between reloads, ultimate hit-and-run-and-hit-and-run while looking for a capping opportunity.
But most importantly, it somehow manages to discourage me from doing stupid things, like stopping the hopping to fire with a Punisher.
