Looks like they are releasing Lodestar, the legendary barrage pilot. But this time they've brought back the pre-release gacha event where you can get him for credits instead!! FYI, it is a 1 day only event, so it ends tonight! It is 80,000 credits per spin, with a maximum of 15 spins to get him, so the maximum possible cost is 1.2M credits.
The one drawback is that they just started a new playoff event that awards points for spending 20,000 credits and for opening event crates. Winning a match, getting MVP, and using 200 A-Coins are also all tasks. Prizes are advanced implant crates, pilot marks, and implant scrap. But getting on the leaderboard in the first day will make it pretty hard to win. I actually got super lucky and got Lodestar on my 2nd try, and I still think I'll probably be pushed onto the leaderboard tomorrow by the wins/MVP tasks just from playing tournament. If you want to win both, best I can suggest is to do the gacha at an unpopular time of day when the heavy grinders usually aren't on.

Ugh, I'm actually pretty close to maxing Impulse....not sure if I really want a Legendary pilot for my Nade Launchers....but...it's probably an investment for the future.

Decision, decisions. I don’t have any barrage weapons, but a legendary pilot is very tempting. I could, use it for a specialty build like the MD or something else.
On the other hand, the playoff event looks inviting too. I haven’t done well on a playoff leaderboard since the EN8 Disruptor though.

I opened a few but then stopped. Usually, if you don't get the top prize in the first couple of crates, then you won't get it til the last one. I've only got 1.3M credits right now and I want to save it for levelling my new Vortex during the next derby or event that rewards levelling and ranking stuff. I might have enough resources now to raise the Vortex to R5 which should make it use-able.
Besides, I'm still too unsure about Nades overall to devote all that many resources. Right now, its still somewhat of a fun build. I'm strongly considering getting one of the new fangled CQC weapons like Fragment or Ember. I haven't looked at either...which one is better?

Koalabear - Definitely get Ember. It looks like it has become a meta weapon, particularly for Eclipse and Nomad. Eclipse Ember12 seems to be becoming THE build on certain FFA maps as well.

Sooner or later a legendary barrage weapon will drop. Not sure it'll be worthwhile but if not, having a spare Legendary Pilot with 4 implant slots is super handy. Personally I'd look at him more for running extra/new weapons, even keeping him in reserve to see what comes out next than something like MD. But the pilot marks in particular for the playoff look very tempting. I guess the big question is how many credits and A-Coins you have/want to spend. Crunch the numbers and see how many points you would get. Playoff events have gotten insane and this one rewards points for grinding, so that's a problem. It's why I'd lean more towards taking the bird-in-hand and getting Lodestar myself. But if you have a lot of in-game currency and time it right, I do think your odds could be pretty good. When I can actually choose the time to get on the leaderboard, I've been aiming for late, (late!) night 2 days before the event ends. No promises, but it seems like a decent time slot. |

It's just worked better for me then. I've definitely tried night before and lately it hasn't been as good to me. But I rarely have the option of choosing either these days vs getting on the leaderboard right away, so it's a pretty small data set. |

The leaderboards I’m on are in the low 20,000 already. I would have probably had to curtail my activity anyhow to put off getting on later in the week. Good luck! |
