I just picked up the game again after about 3 years. It’s both disappointing and reassuring that nothing has really changed.
By the incredibly long and completely unrecognizable list of weapons and even more complex array of currencies it’s clear that Pixonic / Mail.ru / MyGames / whoever it is have been squeezing the monetization mechanics for every last sent they can extract - no surprise there.
but while my old hangar will never get me back to champions league and being blown across the map by seemingly invincible bots, melted in seconds from 800m+ by some super lasers and having half my health drained by a tornado from space, doesn’t make that a super appealing experience, it’s still possible to play and win with at least some of my old gear and I am enjoying giving it a run out over the holidays.
i would not dream of paying them a single cent these days, but for casual gameplay I have been enjoying it.
Also looking at the forum it is kind of reassuring to hear that all the complaints remain the same - was there ever a time when the meta was not “broken”? ))

Sounds like you’ve met Mr Ocho if you got blown a cross the map. They are very tanky and hard to take down once their modules are charged up. Killable tho with the right gear. I am sure you have also been introduced to the fulgur/tonan newton 😀 Not much changed but there are two notable things of late. Monetisation just got more extreme, however prices came down but the base is wider. Very little chance of getting new meta gear without paying. Grindability is more or less gone. The other notable change is that the points system was tweaked and it is pushing up people into Champions League very fast. Champions League is notably diluted and much weaker than it used to be. And it seems like pix introduced another level of pricey monetisation by releasing OP UE gear. Some items are so OP that I reckon they will be either nerfed or the power creep will push them out of the meta. Longer lease on power tho. Some older gear are still viable when levelled and coupled with all the bling. Thypon, Ravana, scorpion, magnetars, hazards , sonic are some examples. But Pix went a bit far and under mined itself. With new weapons like dampers, tamers and especially UE halos and UE glories, even older bots are meta. |

Thank you! Yes, yes and yes again. Will need to learn some tactics to deal with the Ocho for sure. It’s a sure fire sign of what to watch out for when the 5MM+ damage scoring “expert” has 3 of the same bot at mk3 level 12. I can already feel the grindability is as close to zero as they can get it - I got two free bots in the event - cruel orochi and a crisis. I decided to try and level up the orochi as it at least only has two weapons slots and I don’t have any leveled heavy weapons that would dent anything on the battlefield today. Luckily I have a scorpion in my line up and it has been doing most of the work for me, also feels like the scourges I have on a leech also do some damage. The area where I feel like there is the least chance to catch up is on the drones, pilots and orbital support - with all the top equipment being effectively cash purchase only and the new currency for change and upgrades it is designed that you can never dream of changing your set up meaningfully without paying for the privilege. I have to admit you took a bit of the wind out of my sails with the realization that it is now the game mechanics pushing me back up the leagues and not my immense old school Walking War Robots talent  ) |
