Ok, I'm now eyeing my next mech...
While I would love a Scorpius I think the overall cost and time to max would be too high. So, I'm looking at Orion. I figure Orion would play a bit like Stalker without the added incoming damage thing and it's basically like Hemlock's little brother. I figure I could also finally knock off the Support mech tasks cause Support mechs is the one class I seem to always overlook when working on my hangar.
My problem is weapons...
Like before, I want to try to avoid getting new weapons and try to go with what I have.
CB12 - a part of me refuses to let this weapon go even though it's a dead gun these days....but will it work well with Orion? My CB12 are not maxed but with pilot bonus they currently dish out 150k per gun per magazine. By now, I probably have enough bps to max it.
MR12 - still not a fan of the MR series but I think I have enough to max this too. I'm actually gonna try my Aegis with MR12 next and see how I like it.
DL8/16 - I'm pretty close to maxing my DL8 and my DL16 is maxed, so overall damage should be similar to a pair of DL12. I'm liking this more and more on Aegis as long as I play Aegis in a more support role rather than tank role. On Orion I think I can be a bit more aggressive.
NL12 - still a crappy gun but had some fun with it on Aegis recently...even actually managed a couple of ranged kills and as long as you remember the firing arcs, it's actually a pretty versatile weapon that can cover many ranges and functions. But yeah, I still hate it...
Ok, so those are my unassigned 24EN weapons...
Here are the rest:
AT12 - still permanently bolted on Surge...while other weapons have worked on Surge to varying degrees of success, my instincts keep playing Surge as if it's got ATs on it.
RG12 - still permanently bolted on Eclipse...I have some bad days where I can't hit the broad side of a barn but usually I have a blast and do well.
HR12 - transfer back and forth on Redeemer and Killshot but am thinking of taking making it permanent on Redeemer and retiring Killshot
JR12 - have retired this when I got HR12 cloned...might make a come back with Rosa as a pilot one day if I ever dish out for a second hangar preset
SB12 - the first gun I ever cloned way back in Beta....definitely have enough to max by now but it's been rusting in the back for ages...just doesn't have the oomph but with Orion?
RM12 - hahaha wouldn't that be funny!
Oh, almost forgot, EM16/8. I hate this gun cause I can't get handle on the shot delay...but on Orion, this combo could work provided I can keep the Orion in a good sniping spot...but I hate camping and I'm very aggressive when playing.

I think DLs would work best with Orion. Once a mech gets tagged it looks for cover. DLs splash damage can finish it off. Same thing for NLs, maybe.

RG12 is the biznatch on Orion and I have definitely been on the receiving end of that hurt. I run my R4 Orion with a single RG16 and it actually works for endgame. EMR12s or 16/8 work too and are strong. But RG12s are probably better overall and for your playstyle. And pairing Orion's 250% damage boost to the RG12s would be more efficient than a EMR16 (the 8 will become viable though for single shot kills). DLs, MRs, HRs, and Javs should all be solid. I'd avoid sustained fire like Carbs though.
FYI, people don't seem to like Scorpius for endgame. Seems like Vortex (aka Dr. Paragon Redox M.D.) is going to be the next must-have mech anyway.
I'm in a bit of a conundrum on Orion myself. I am close to maxing my Eclipse, maybe even this week if I dip into my A-Coin reserves. I'm like only 35 Orion bps short of max, though I'd have to take it up 2 ranks first. My plan was to max Eclipse and then take the following weapons up 2 ranks each to R6 to double them: HR16, EG12, GB16 (in that order). These would be the first sets of each weapon that I could actually use in matches. Especially for certain tournament maps, HR16 seems like THE weapon to have and in 1 or 2, GB16s seem better earners than sniper weapons. Embers I could hold off on, but they seem like solid all-rounders and I kinda just wanted them sooner vs later. But my 2nd RG pilot is about to go up to 6-Star and I'm thinking maybe I should just go for Orion instead. I don't know. It probably makes more sense to do HR16 first for tournament earnings, then Orion, then the others. Orion seems like it would be really solid but I don't see it plugging any of the gaps I have on tournament earnings. So maybe I should just stick to the original plan. What do you guys think? What upgrade order would you go in?

I would go Orion and Helix Rack. Then Eclipse and Railguns.

What upgrade order would you go in? I LOVE my Eclipse with RG12. Such a fun and challenging mech. You must learn to shoot the RG12 while running though as you CANNOT stop to aim for long in the Eclipse. The AI WILL shoot you from across the map, even under Cloak. I tend to brawl with the Eclipse and it can trump just about any other Scout mech in the opening exchange at the centre control point. Like, for example, the most common I go up against is Surge and Eclipse can totally counter surge. Nomad is a challenge for sure though and it usually ends up 50/50 for me if I fight a Nomad in m Eclipse. Two double shots with RG12 will kill most mechs up to Onyx. Bastion will need another blast unless I get it on the side. But Nomad, needs like 3 - 4 double blasts. I think the damage resistance on it is broken.
As for Orion, I hadn't thought to use HR12 but I suppose that would be a good weapon for it while I learn the ins and outs of the mech and then graduate to something better. I doubt I will go RG12 but I may try it out just for fun. NL12 is intriguing though as I seem to be doing better with it lately. Just had another several games where Aegis rocked the match with it so we'll see.

I recently have found Redeemer EMR12 is just invaluable in CPC. I tried playing without EMRs for a while but not having them to instakill opponents was just getting me torched when I went up against human opponents who had AI on their side. When AI is truly against you, there's not much you can do, but they do help a lot to even things out a bit. Redeemer and Eclipse move the same - they're both really good for run & snipe, though it is tricky as you said. Trickier even with the EMRs, but I'm finding if you drag the aiming dot across the target just right there is a miniscule bit of auto-aim action that helps center it on the target. RG12s would be better on Eclipse since you can get in close and Redeemer's ability is useful for backing off when you're too close with EMRs, but consider them together side-by-side. Should be a fun 1-2 punch! I would go Orion and Helix Rack. Then Eclipse and Railguns. Thanks! Eclipse is definitely first in line though. I am right at the cusp of maxing it and I've been focused for like 2 months to get this done, so fingers crossed! Seems like doing HR16 second is best. I definitely wished I had them in the mix on yesterday's tourney map!

@s1e1 I had trouble using HRs on yesterday's map. So I switched to Guardian and Longarms. That worked much better.

I figure I could also finally knock off the Support mech tasks cause Support mechs is the one class I seem to always overlook when working on my hangar. If you can, try Zephyr RM12. Especially as the support mech tasks often involve killing from behind. Zephyr is a solid Rocket Mortar platform. The freeze is very handy for when opponents try to get close.

So, I did some math'ing this morning...I have enough bps to bring Orion to R5.5. I'm about 4 bps short of bringing it to 5.6. Once I bring it to R6, I'll need 360 bps to max it. At 48 acoins a pop, assuming I don't snag any more bps organically, I'll need 17,280 acoins to max it. This doesn't include the acoins needed to rank it up twice from R4 - which would like be around or close to 6000 acoins.
Sheesh when you lay it out like this, it seems impossible to max things. In a way, I'm glad I haven't pulled the trigger yet to get the Orion. I'm historically impatient and don't usually think about the cost ahead of time when I start a project like this.
Ugh...maybe I'll just wait a bit longer....keep practicing with Aegis and the various builds I have lined up for it.

I'm the opposite, once I decide on a mech, I'll crunch the numbers on A-Coins and then slowly grind away til it's done. It is definitely a bit disheartening to do the initial math. The good news is that I think Orion's bps are now dropping at the rate they are supposed to. Also, have you been hoarding crates at all? If so, maybe wait til after you cash them in for an event, then redo the numbers.
I got Orion forever ago and have been naturally collecting the bps. Finally got the last of them, though I have to take it up 2 ranks still. Weapons are getting the priority right now, but I have the credits saved already, so hopefully I should get to it soon. 🤞

I've always found that as soon as I unlock an item, the bps suddenly dry up and trickle in. Then, when I rank it up, if I ignore the immediate offers for bps and credits, the bps dry up again. And when I'm 1 or 2 levels from max, the bps REALLY dry up and stop altogether. Then, after I max, I suddenly get an influx of them.
Of course, it could also be because I'm keeping an eye on the bps once I start the upgrade process so maybe it's all in my mind!

My take is that bps come in waves. For legendaries, I've noticed that I'll usually get a few relatively close together and then it rotates onto other items.

So, I took everyone's opinion into consideration....went to go pick up the Orion....and then somehow ended up spending on Vortex...not really sure how that happened!
I think what did it was that the Vortex went on "sale" and I could have sworn I saw 4 stars on it. But...when I checked my inventory, it was only 3 stars. Plus, another Legendary mech, I think Scorpius is on "sale" now for $55 at (for sure this time) 4 stars... so yeah, no way Plarium would be that generous in giving up their latest Legendary mech for $22 with 4 stars...3 stars make much more sense.
So...the Acoins I have now will go towards ranking this bad boy up....ugh...by the time it's playable, something else is gonna come out!
Any thoughts on weapons? It's a tank so only 24EN when maxed. It's ability is basically Paragon's ability on steroids with the added bonuses of field damage and damage reduction for itself and nearby team mates. I'm thinking ultimately, my DL8/16 combo would work well, with the field damage making up for the lack of punch in my DL8 and the damage reduction and 100% speed boost to help me get into and out of trouble.
I'm also thinking of AT12 and swapping out my Surge on occasion.

I agree on the dls. I'm using them on Aegis now which I think is tanky. Next maybe missile racks or a barrage weapon whose name escapes me. Just fire pretty close to red. Good hunting!
