Do I want a Redeemer? I’m thinking not. But here’s the story.
I have a crapload of event tokens for it, which means Paylarium wants me to get one, which is all the reason I need not to.
If I were to get it, it would probably replace the Tengu, as the Lancer is just too valuable to me to take out of the lineup. I’d be taking a big hit in HP off the bat at 3* (Tengu is 5*), but there are bigger returns in HP and Energy capacity as Redeemer ranks up. There’d be a good increase in speed, but I’d lose the extra offensive punch of the Tengu Tantrum, though that’s only 32k right now. I have a legendary close-quarters pilot on Tengu now, but I also have a legendary Assault weapons pilot in catering, which is probably who I’d drop in a Redeemer, probably with PC6’s for now, but I’d be open to suggestions for more effective builds for its young age.
I know I’ll probably be taking a beating for awhile until MM evens out, if it ever even does. Problem is, I like the Tengu, it has a purpose closing out games and I don’t really want to take it out. I see the Redeemer as more of a pest until it ranks up and can carry something heavier, but I really don’t feel like going through that whole upgrade process again.
So I’m just curious to hear y’all’s thoughts. Like I said, I’m leaning (heavily) towards not, unless somebody has a compelling reason otherwise. I’m not looking to have a massive late-game hangar, I just want to see how far I can get with this fairly low-tier gear.

I am Redeemer fan and it is a staple now in my CPC hangar. The speed and maneuverability make it solid mech, although now Eclipse basically checks the same boxes with both having different forms of immunity. I also chose to play it a lot at the lower ranks, which is rare for me, but its ability was instantaneous then. Post-nerf, Redeemer is best as a sniper, but it is also solid with some medium range options like DLs and ATs. I wouldn't pair it with sustained fire weapons like PCs though.
Have you won all the tokens so far? Using the event tokens gives you points for the gold Ability Cooldown playoff, so I would spend them regardless. The exchange rate for free token events like this is garbage anyway, better to spend them. Plarium is being cheapskates of course and Redeemer is the lesser option of immunity mechs compared to Eclipse, but it is still good. And with all the Daze & Freeze mechs now, I'm not the only endgamer running both it and my Eclipse. The problem is you have to max it to undo Freeze & Daze, so giving it away makes sense for them to encourage A-Coin sales.
If it was a choice between Eclipse and Redeemer, I'd say get Eclipse instead. But since it's free and it's best to use the tokens, my vote is go for it. Don't really see a downside tbh to just having it in the inventory.

I’ve got 9 tokens. I figure I’d either get this thing on the first draw, or they’ll drain me of them all for a pile of useless junk - it just depends on how much they think they can squeeze out of me ranking this thing up. Which would mean blowing a lot of resources I could be hoarding for my chosen two. Sounds like I’d also need to invest in growing another set of weapons, which means acquiring and ranking up yet another pilot and waiting around for this pile of poop to present me with implants for them. None of which is worth it to me for how much/little I play. Nah, I think I’ll resist temptation, follow my first instincts and pass.

Nine tokens isn't that much. I've already used double that and I didn't complete the Asmodeous event. Also, while "equal odds" gachas are always misleading, the free token ones post accurate varying odds per prize. Since I already own Redeemer, the next highest item is the 10k implant scrap prize, and that is showing 0.15% odds for me. And that is with me having eliminated 19 other prizes. My guess is the odds of you getting the Redeemer straight away is 0.05% or so. You won't win it before your 50th token or so. So I'd just take the other prizes and the credit towards the Playoff Event.
But if you don't, please post afterwards how many credits you got per token. I'm assuming it'll only be 500 credits, but it has been a while since I haven't cashed in all my tokens during the event.

Another Redeemer fan here, mine is fairly low level in my high level account but with maxed MR's and careful game play using back track this bad boy slaps hard and disappears in a blink, fast on his feet I just find this bot fun to play and I'm surprised I don't see more of them in the game.
However we all know how Paylarium roll and events are a big scam and sham, you might think you will win but I wouldn't be shocked if you didn't.The heavy pilot event that was on a few months back that we could use credits for tokens took me every spin to win the pilot and if it wasn't for the decent A coin stash that was in the event I wouldn't have bothered with it.

Go take a look at my Aegis vs Redeemer thread for some of my thought processes. I ended up maxing my Redeemer and immediately wished I'd gone with Aegis. But...
I actually kinda like it now, especially since I've just maxed my Aegis and not really feeling it just yet. I guess I got used to the Redeemer after all. I'm still struggling with Aegis, mostly because my original intent was for it to possibly replace Guardian, but the decrease in firepower is brutal (I'm running maxed DL16 on Guardian and had to go with DL16/8 on Aegis with the DL8 nowhere near maxed).
So, comments about Redeemer being similar to Eclipse are valid. I initially had a lot of trouble cause I'd be in my Redeemer and would hit backtrack because I thought I was in my Eclipse and miss a good ambush opportunity. It was also extremely embarrassing! But, I've come to distinguish them better since the Redeemer has shorter legs and runs more like the Shadow while the Eclipse with it's longer legs kinda lopes around. Anyway, the Redeemer is a fantastic HR or JR platform. It doesn't have the extra punch of Stalker nor the extra melee attack option if cornered like Killshot, but it has immunity to EMP and Daze and with the proliferation of Hemlocks now, that's a good thing. Other weapons that worked for me was the MR but I much prefer out of sight weapons on something so fragile.
If I had to do it all over again, I don't think I would have gone the Redeemer route first. But hindsight is 20/20 after all.
Tengu and Redeemer are going to play completely differently so if you do swap, you will have a learning curve. But hey that's part of the fun of getting a new mech right?

I don't like Redeemer much in my main account. But for cqc players it would be good. Iirc I used mrs and javs. The Wiki suggests emrs, mrs and ats. With your style of play you may get good use from Redeemer. Just not my cuppa tea.
