Sooo....any thoughts on the Storm Rack 12? Anyone going to be in a hurry to get it? I remember seeing at it's base level, which I think was R4, it had similar damage to my R6 HR12. Plus, it's got that extra damage to shields thing which seems suspicious given the recent buff to Aegis's shield. Plus, we're getting another Legendary guided pilot.
Me...I don't think I"m gonna be in a hurry to get the Storm Rack. There's already too many maps where a guided missile mech is at a disadvantage so there's no desire on my part to run multiple missile mechs in my hangar.

It's not a guided weapon, just a missile one. Basically an upgraded Missile Rack.

It fires at the same rate as the Missile Rack 12, with the same projectile speed, and has similar damage per rocket.
It fires 2 more rockets than the MR12, meaning it takes another .6 seconds to fully unload.
It's base reload speed is 11 seconds, 1 more than MR12.
It does NOT have anything saying it fires all of it's rockets on a single button press. Rocket Mortars and Javelins do NOT mention firing their entire magazine either, so that doesn't necessarily mean it won't burst fire. We'll have to wait until the day before it's released for CCs to upload their test server footage.
If it is "hold to fire" it's a direct upgrade to MR12, with the 2 rockets adding 20% more damage per magazine, and the 50% extra damage vs shields.
Given Panther's barrier is bugged, and Aegis had it's shield invincibility revoked, Panther might just be up for a nerf, giving it's barrier HP. Unless it's usage rate drops, Paylarium may decide $40 worth of coins is "too cheap" for it being able to compete for a slot with the $100 mechs. The only time they don't invoke the "item grade" argument, is when they're selling Rare, Epic, and Legendary items in the neon shop at the same rank, for the same price.

From watching Mayer & Scape's vids on the SR8, it looks like pressing fire empties the entire magazine in one volley, same as Missile Racks.
Takeaways are: * Less damage per missile but more per magazine as it has 2 more missiles than MRs. * 50% extra damage against shields. There is a legendary Shield Damage implant that boosts it another 50%. Unlike other weapons, there is no gold (regular) damage implant - that only goes up to epic. * Max splash radius is 7.5m, but the epic Radius implant boosts it to 9.2m. That is the same as Disc Launchers (without implants) * Max range is 160m, 10m more than MRs. Its entire range is optimal since it's an explosive. * Natural reload time is 11 secs, 1 more than MRs. But it has a legendary Reload implant which reduces the time by 50% at max, to just 5.5 seconds. All the videos where you see people getting excited about this weapon will have folks maxing that implant. That is what makes it shine. It does also have an epic reload implant. That brings the reload time down to 8.1 seconds. That is the same as MR with its epic reload implant maxed. * It fires a little weird. Where a missile rack fires all its missiles right at the center of the crosshair, SR fires in a little circle around it. Doesn't seem like much of an issue, you can see it in Scape's video where he demonstrates the difference.
Overall it is a slightly better Missile Rack with normal implants. But with the gold ones it looks like it can be real serious both as an Aegis killer and as a close-in to mid-range burst weapon. Expect to see it being run by the spender crowd real soon.

Sooo....really, it's a direct counter for Aegis? Gee, who was surprised by that? Right after they buff the Aegis and make it usable, they release a weapon that is clearly meant to take it down. The Shield Breaker is for "most" shields, meaning it won't work against Panther's Stasis Field. Every other shielded mech, Ares, Bastion and Sentinel all have fairly weak shields that can be taken down fairly quickly so that a volley from the SR would be a waste unless successive hits from the alpha strike hit the mech behind the shield...
Well, looks like tanks are gonna be obsolete again. Aegis might still have some utility and Bastion still needs to be engaged outside of it's shield blast radius, but Ares and Sentinel are toast. Oh yeah, forgot about Jugg! lol
