Wanted to bump an existing thread... but after a cursory search, I couldn't find an appropriate one.
So as we already knew, the mechs were recently re-skinned, with supposedly improved looks and textures.
But given I barely launch the game anymore these days, as I opened my daily free crate, it just occurred to me that the legacy paint jobs have been reset in the process.
So that secondary, orange paint for Ares which I had completely forgotten about because I got all the paint jobs cleared a long time ago ? Well, I just got it again apparently.
Yet another cheap trick from Paylarium, and yet another reason to hate that company 🙄

No, they added more paint colors, like bronze. It didn't reset your existing paints.

No, they added more paint colors, like bronze. It didn't reset your existing paints. I double checked and you're right, the new scheme was indeed bronze, which is "technically" not orange.
But which does look close to it - hence my initial confusion - and serves as yet another way to dilute the daily earnings (that's one less blueprint). I.e. it's indeed another cheap trick from Paylarium 😒

Ugh...I tried the default skins for a while and while some look cool, some are just repaints of existing Legendaries, which basically devalued the Legendary that I have. Case in point, Lightrider was my fave KS skin because I won that fair in square with Fortune Keys. I loved it cause I don't see many humans out there with it. But now, the default KS skin is a recolored Lightrider so of course I had to change my KS skin to one that I got through grinding the game.
In the end, I went back to using my Legendary skins cause I like running things that are different than what the vast majority of people out there run.
