They've come up with some new variations on Development Derby and Battlethon. They've been starting to rotate through various rewards and tasks for a while now, varying them by week. Not sure if these are part of that or will be just a one-time experiment.
I don't have Hemlock or Redox so I can't complete the Battlethon. It's annoying that there are no extra tasks to complete the event, and given there are 10 listed, my bet is some folks will lose count and not realize that. I am tempted by the 500 A-Coin reward on the Dev Derby. Normally I'll usually choose the overall savings even if it disrupts my current upgrade plans. And I have an Ember12 at 2-Star, so I can do 2 epic upgrades fairly cheap. But I just used 3,850 AC to buy Baron and I don't know. My plan was to spend 750 AC for implant swaps to Baron and then chug along on maxing my Eclipse, which will cost (I think?) like 12,000 AC still. I could complete the Derby for 4,050 AC (so 3,550 after rebate) if I took my EG12 from R2-R4 and my GB12 from R3-R5. That's the cheapest possibility but it would be a total detour. If I skipped the second upgrade for GB12 and instead took my Eclipse up to R5, it'd add 1,000 AC to the total cost. I don't know. It looks like this runs through Sunday, so my Tournament winnings might help me decide what to do. But despite the cost savings, I kinda want to hold off and see if this becomes a recurring thing. If it pops up later at a better time, I'd still have my Ember at R2 to take advantage. FYI, if this does become a recurring event, then that increases the value of 2-Star deals, as long as you wait to upgrade them.

I wonder if they’re looking for another way to get the hoarders to use upA-Coins. What’s Plarium’s position on players who stock up A-coins and then use ‘em all during events to get the freebies?

They've pretty much shut that down. Playoff events all now have tasks that put you on the leaderboard early on, last way too long, and then the A-Coins task is get 200 pts for using 300 coins. Haven't seen a 1:1 conversion rate in ages, nor a combined A-Coin g credits event. Now it seems like you have to play a zillion games to even get near the top 3. Maybe that's just me, but I've stopped saving A-Coin rewards to my inbox. I figured that it is about the appearance of a generous reward and also getting non-hoarders to buy A-Coins. With 2-Star items you can make it work so that it comes out alright, but most players have 3 & above and that adds up quick. |

I looked at that and thought: "too bad I ran out of credits as I was going to use Acoins to max my Redeemer". Oh well...I couldn't do anything else with the credit stash so I threw a level at my GB16. I guess I'll focus on that for my next credit windfall cause I have enough to max it and might as well since I have nowhere near enough bps for Redeemer nor the acoins to max it.
But, the Dev Derby is such a scam and probably only worth it to newbies who have low level gear ready to rank up. But even then, it'd be hard to come out with a net positive.

Well 500 A-Coins saved are 500 AC earned so even if you're spending a bunch more it can be worth it. But only if it is stuff you're sure is worth upgrading. Learned that the hard way with a free MG16 I'd won that I then upgraded several levels for another Playoff Event b/c it had a zillion bps. Now I have two MG16s that only really work on Panther (although my Onyx might be a fit when it's maxed). And of course, I didn't even win the event.
Got a sneaking suspicion that once this Derby ends we'll finally see a Playoff that credits A-Coins spent.

Earned enough A-Coins to go for the Dev Derby and get the 500 AC, without dipping into my reserves. 🥳 Even managed to stay on track with my Eclipse upgrades, despite the higher cost. 🎉
Not sure what is up with the new Warm Up Event. Awful prizes for expensive tasks and only 24 hours to complete. Not even worth it for a new player with lotsa unleveled gear to bother. 😮💨
