What is Clan Aurora Nova- and why should you care?

Aurora Nova has continued its meteoric growth, which has necessitated the founding of two new Chapters. Aurora Luvenis [AurL], founded by DPhill and led by Dredd_77, will focus on Android members at the Silver League level and below. 

“I have an Android account I’ve been growing,” remarked Dredd_77, “and it made sense for me to lead this new Android initiative because I’ll be developing right along our members. There’s always a challenge when you have leadership that’s in a higher League, because it can make squadding and playing together very difficult.” 

Meanwhile, on the iOS side, Dredd_77 has founded Aurora Audax [AuAu], a Chapter for players at Gold level and below. 

“We get a lot of people wanting to be a part of what we’re all building here with Aurora Nova,” continued Dredd_77, “and it’s vitally important that we have enough rooms in the inn for them all. We don’t want to turn anyone away just for lack of space, so we’ll continue to expand as players continue to apply.” 

When asked about his ability to run two Chapters at once, Dredd_77 had this to say. 

“I want to make sure I give my best to the members who will make these new Chapters every bit as vibrant and exciting as any other. Just as with Aurora Serica and Aurora Draconis, I’m always looking for leadership to develop from within, and Rumrunner will be joining me on the iOS side. I’m very excited to see what lies ahead for Luvenis and Audax!”

Aurora Nova is proud to announce Aurora Serica member bahogilok as the Aurora Nova Member of the Month for April 2017. 

“All three nominees were well worthy of the award, and this is one of those times where you have to pick one. But we put it out to the vote of the community, and while all three had strong showings, the nod went to bahogilok.” 

The award carries with it a 500Au purse, and the winner will have their name inscribed on the Plaque of Glory for all time. 

Initially the Member of the Month was to be selected by leadership, as it was with //OBIONE\\ winning in March. But with the push to implement a more direct form of democracy, Aurora Nova implemented a voting system for April where leaders nominated worthy recipients, but it was up to the clan members themselves to pick a winner through a survey. 

The clan plans to go even further for May’s contest. 

“Effective immediately, any Aurora Nova member may nominate another to stand in the Member of the Month elections,” said Dredd_77. “The leadership will have their picks as well. This way, everyone has a chance to be recognized for their outstanding contributions!” 

Aurora Nova members nominating fellow members for the award are advised to DM their Chapter Officers or Leader.

“The foundation of Aurora Nova can be said to have been built on the bedrock of three guiding principles: maturity, family, and teamwork.” 

So reads the current Vision/Mission Statement for the Aurora Nova family of clans, and today we’ll highlight some instances where Family has been exemplified. 

First, what do you think of when you see a clan for a specific game talk about being “Family Oriented”? If you say it has to do with an understanding that family comes before the game in question, or that a clan displays it’s behaviors in such a way that is friendly for all ages, that’s a great place to start. 

The Aurora Nova community takes the family aspect a few steps further. That’s not to say that it is an exclusive practice for Aurora Nova itself, but we do take pride in what we have to offer our community. On more than one occasion our members have stepped up to the plate and offered real-life support to each other in situations completely outside of the War Robots experience. We asked some of our courageous pilots to step up to the plate and share those experiences so our faithful readers can see just how the Aurora Nova community lives its values. 

PVT PeckerWood of Aurora Serica shared how Dredd_77 and his family came to aid him and his pregnant girlfriend during his time of absence: 

“I found out about a month ago I was to become a new father and we were both ecstatic as you can imagine. In the midst of celebrating we forgot about a major problem… I would be leaving for the Marines soon and would be away for 3 months without contact and close to a year before I was able to get a house for her to move back into with me as I would be required to live in the barracks which would be off limits to her. Upon talking and having a friendly chat in our free time I explained my problem and Dredd and his wife (my heroes!) offered to more or less put me at ease and offered to help take care of her in any way that they could while I was away.” 

Dredd_77‘s wife, Jimi, is training to be a doula and- now pregnant with her seventh child- an experienced veteran of the journey to maternity. 

PerfectlyGoodInk of Aurora Nova weighed in with his experience as a tutor for TurboGrasshopper of Aurora Supernova: 

“I remember Turbo posting something about a stats project he was doing using War Robots. I gave him a suggestion to improve it, and then he asked me if I was someone he could ask stats questions, and I said sure. After that I helped TurboGrasshopper with his intro stats homework.” 

These days PerfectlyGoodInk is working in Educational Technology editing introductory statistics content, and he also has a Master’s Degree in Economics. This allowed him to also provide tutoring for Schnitzel, an Aurora Nova alum. 

“I also helped forum mod Schnitzel a number of times when he had questions in his micro economics class. Schnitzel was briefly part of the clan after his unrest with Wiki clan, but returned after it calmed down. The tutoring was after he returned to Wiki clan.”

“I have three kids of my own and she has three of her own. It’s like the Brady bunch! We first met nine years ago and fell in love. We weren’t together until two years ago, got married and and it has been the best time of my life. I love her kids just as much as mine and vice versa. Together we help each other with our children as one.” 

And- of course- playing War Robots! 

I also have an accounting of my own to add to this newsletter. Before I was afforded the opportunity to enlist with the Aurora Nova community I never had an outlet for my penmanship. After discovering the great game we all love, I received an invite to join this Family by the great Dredd_77 himself. Then, after providing an accounting of my experiences in the War Robot Birthday Event, it was to my immeasurable surprise to find myself yet another invite, this time for a position in Ordo Literarum. I owe a big thank you and every bit of my writing aptitude to Dredd_77 for helping me find a little bit of direction in this vast world, and for helping me discover a great hobby which will put my abilities to work.
