I just realized it's OK to get old. I have way more toys than I ever had as a kid. Multiple 1/16 scale RC vehicles. A metal 1/24 scale model of a 64 Corvette I'm building. 32 Ford Sedan next in line. All the lastest tech equipment I need. Games, puzzles, oil paints, water colors, pastels. My guitar and violin, and my new viola.
Stuff I have collected from my travels sitting around. Freeze-dried ice cream from NASA. A space pen. Semi-precious gems and precious gems in raw form that I have collected from expeditions. Gold and my gold mining equipment from other travels.
Toys, toys and more toys of all kinds scattered around my room. Yes, my room. Definitely enter at your own risk, trespassers will be shot. By my nerf gun.?
So it ain't so bad to be old and young at the exact same time.
Edit: Silly me. Forgot to ask you share some of your favorite toys you have now.

I greatly enjoy your consistantly positive posts. We need more of your kind around here.
Also, love to meet a fellow painter, tho my choice is acrylic, its all just slinging paint and having a good time.

wildboar I have one long bow. An old Cherokee Indian made it for me when I was 10, along with a deerskin quiver and a dozen arrows. He lived down the mountain from us. It's cool. I could see a crossbow. Heck, yeah! Got me thinking me thinking about it now.

When I go on one of my expeditions I always bring my watercolors or pastels with me, along with my journals. It's a great way to spend time and capture where you are at in that moment. Only wish I had done it when I was much much younger.

I have few regrets in life, but not doing that sooner is one of them. There is something about taking in a beautiful view and trying to capture the beauty thats just downright good for a person.

So it ain't so bad to be old and young at the exact same time. Edit: Silly me. Forgot to ask you share some of your favorite toys you have now. Well some of my toys have deminished after having a family. I was a bachelor for years. So I had a supercharged corvette and several other toys. Now being a family man I just have lots of hobbies. Some just scaled down. I enjoy Radio control vehicles. Been into that since building my own kit at 8yrs old. I'm 41 now. I have a couple planes. Online 3D stunt plane & a delta wing. Some RC trucks & custom/modified boats. I got big into boats a while back. The catamarans are my favorite. Twin drive electric running 75mph. Good times. Also into photography. So I have a nice camera & different lenses I like. Also a quadcopter drone I use for aerial photography. Into amateur (ham) radio as well. I have a few repeater systems & an APRS digipeater I've put up for the community use. We have weather nets during severe weather & give reports to the national weather service. It's a fun hobby. I have talked all around the world with my stations. Also to the international space station. A little into gaming. I built a desktop gaming PC a few years ago. It's a little dated now. But I go through spells where I do some gaming for fun. I'm really surprised I like this war robots honestly. The graphics are not cutting edge stuff. I know it's limited because of the platform it uses & having to be a mobile game. I think the real appeal is that when I'm in the game there is someone real in the other end..so if I can take you out it feels so good ..haha. Just the challenge of it, with us all playing its good stuff. I'm hope that later in life when the kids are more grown (Not looking forward to that) I can have more resources to have another corvette. For now my Pontiac TA is my fun ride. I'D also like to work on getting my pilots licence.

I play Nerf with my kids. I mod the guns. It's fun.
Does EDC collecting count as toys? I do a fair amount of collecting of those sorts of toys if so.

Scuzzbopper most definitely your EDC collection. I mean, I consider my mining equipment as toys. Whoever heard of a number 2 shovel and a sluice box being toys. Me. Thats the nice thing about toys. We all have our own definition.

I like cars but I don't like to maintain them. I am waiting for Mercedes to come with a car that changes it's own oil. While they are at it might as well make it order and fill it's own gas tank.
Also, does real estate qualify as "toys"

I have a WH 40k army. Does that count? Darth Vader and Boba Fett from Lego. A replica of a sonic screwdriver. Some old comic books. And lots of table games. PS2 and 3. DVD collection. A library with over 500 books. Lot of cool kitchen items. A poker table. Some action figures standing on book shelves.

Hmmm.... I guess my favorite toys now... that either get used or looked at regularly, are my blades and my Roland Drum Kit.
I have had to drift away from console games, much to my dismay, due to too much time involved in every-damn-thing-else.
That and I used to be a PC enthusiast, but now, I haven't had a running PC in a few years. I still build and work on them at work, but I was VERY into music sequencing and production and a few RTS games in the past. One of my favorites while my PC still worked, was Sins of a Solar Empire... Great game for killing as much time as you want. Especially with a friend or 3. Look it up if you want a low stress, slowly progressing game with space navies and strategy and tactics and lots of mods (if they are still around) for Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, and other themes... Steam should still have it.
Other than that... I have a beautiful Range Friend that I like to relax with for about 300 rounds a sitting... and the mobile devices... tablets mainly. Hopefully over the next year, I will have a better after work life... but for now... I'm run ragged just trying to keep up.
Enjoy your down time Old Man, sounds like you've earned it!
P.S. - Great thread!

I managed to get ahold of some relatively intact G1 Transformers. Other than that, I still have my Legos and some army men.

I still have my collection of Fighting Fantasy books from when I was about 12 (33 years ago ...eek!) FF was a series of books like a simpler version of Dungeons and Dragons in a "choose your own adventure" format. It sold worldwide. And I loved the books.
I've got the whole series and the last 10 books are worth a lot of money these days - over £100 each for the last few books. Mine are all first editions and some are signed by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone. It's the only collection I have. I have kids now and teach martial arts so don't have a lot of free time after work etc in the evenings and when I do have spare time it's spent getting shot at by Griffins.

I've got my cars I posted in another thread, and....
I brew beer, I've been an all-grain brewer since 2008, I can brew 1bbl a day (31gallons) if I run my system 3 times back to back, but a 12 hour brew day is a bit long.
This hobby has its perks, I can brew anything I can dream up, I don't pay through the nose for good craft beer, and I have a nifty collection of medals and ribbons from competitions.
As for toys, I've got a whole wee brewery in my house... I built everything from scratch, from the 120k BTU burners, yeast propagating stir plates, motorized grain mill, kegging equipment, triple tap full bar in my house, the curly maple brewing paddle I made myself, counterflow wort chiller, and pumping system.
The question I get all the time is "you must drink a lot of beer" I don't really, I bottle up a lot and give it to friends/family/coworkers/neighbors, I keep three 5 gallon kegs on tap in the house most of the time, it lasts a long time when you only have a pint or two every couple weeks.

@ tricky48 - May I ask which model Roland drum kit you have? Back in high school ('99) I played around on my brother's TR-606 drum machine. Actually ran it thru a Danelectro distortion FX guitar pedal and a cigarette box amp once. Still have the recording of it on SC.
The toys I have now consist most notably of boxed Legos I played with at about age 8 to 11. Got the original Game Boy as well, though the only game I have for it is Metroid II. Still works.

The 40K figures are just too small as collecting. I do have a couple hundred MechWarrior figures, keep in mind the plastic dark age ones, because size was bigger. The old figures were same, just too small for me. Love 40K lore though, codex's novels, etc.
Dark Age? I have a dozen, or so. Biggest one is a Jupiter. Ever played with them?

Cars are my passion, but currently I have none to tinker with. My wife is finishing college and I'm trying to put her and our little girl in a house next year.
When I was 18 I talked my Dad into buying me a new S2000, two years later he cosigned on a WRX STi. God bless him.
The Subaru STi got stolen and chopped after 3 1/2 years of ownership. Over the past ten years I went out and bought a crx, 1986 mustang gt, and an Audi A4 2.8 Quattro. I bought the Audi after college when I was working for a contractor in CO. But, I relocated back home to El Paso and the Audi sat 10 minutes away in my mom's garage. I put German race springs on it with Bilstein shocks, custom intake, straight pipe and a fart can.
After spending nearly $1000 on it I sold it because I been contemplating selling it for a while. I made almost all my money back and it became a teenager's first car. It was quite pleasurable watching Dad and son check out and buy that first car all in one day.
I drive an 08 Mustang and the old lady is in a 2015 Subaru Legacy (great car)... Paying off the Legacy early so I can get the best house out there for us... After I take care of what's most important our new family car will be a 09-12 Challenger RT or G37X. Swapping the Mustang for another A4, but with turbo. Then hopefully I can find a nice 10-20 year old Miata that hasn't been to hell and back.
My wife said I can't have the final say in our kid's names, so I said to myself I'm picking the cars. I encourage you all to hold on to your toys and pleasure yourself while your young.

I love tech and music. I guess my tech toys would include my phones and an old iPad, as well as spare parts from old PCs and broken mobile devices that I've taken apart in the past I only have 2 music instruments I consider my toys my 6 string ESP LTD MH-50, and my 7-string .Strandberg* Boden OS 7 (which i highly recommend to any electric guitarists on the market for a 7 string ergonomic guitar)
