You claimed that the game doesn't use Physics, I demonstrated that it takes Physics into account. You are not seeking Objectivity, rather you want Justification. But to demonstrate one more time why you could be affected, examine the reason why you can hear sounds through walls... Never said the game doesn't use physics. Learn to more efficiently interpret what you read. Now you're arguing sound passing through walls.... That's like me arguing that light bounces off solid objects. Lol Both are unrelatable. Thermal energy can "reach" around walls but losses a lot of said energy in the process. I'm requesting "reach" damage be removed since radiant thermal energy wouldn't be enough to "damage" robots. This is a world of science fiction but might as well use logical physics as much as possible. I'm not sure where you read that but it's mostly incorrect. Let me explain: Sound is a mechanical wave, much like a shockwave. As it passes through a medium is has momentum. When the wave impacts an object it converts momentum to force. The material can absorb some of the force but depending on the atomic structure of the material some force can pass through. Think of a sand-sifter catching only the rocks but allowing the sand to pass through. This is why you can hear a loud noise in another room or "feel" the thump of Bass from a stereo. It's called transduction and is a well established scientific fact. Try this, take a wooden board and place your hand against it. Have a friend hit the other side of the board - did you "feel" it? But removing the damage taken from "reach" is not an option, in my opinion.

"physics" is not taking damage through walls or terrain when fully covered. My complaint abt rockets detonating at the enemy robot's range was in regards to lack-of-skill. Can't complain abt people using rockets. If they work, USE THEM. I'm ranting abt the need for a balance. Also, in regards to charge timers, then rockets should always detonate at their targets range and should never fly by. But that's not what happens. So now, it's a problem with consistency. All your counter-rants have been squashed. Please try again. Lack of skills? Sounds like you're the one lacking skills. Players are not missing. They locked onto you and the rockets will explode in your proximity, not go past. If they weren't locked to you then rockets will indeed fly past. Players who have played for a bit knows that you can't just stand at the edge of a wall due to splash from rockets and even worse, tridents. Conversely, this is a strategy on the offense side as well. You use rockets to counter a corner shooting bot. You use tridents around corners to suppress the enemy so they can't hop out to fire volleys easy. You bait someone to chase you around a corner while firing rockets so they walk into the splash. Etc etc etc. It is a skill that you haven't mastered yet. You can learn to be a good player or you can whine about your lack of skill.

I guess its all relative, Some say you shouldnt have splash damage, last i checked in real combat, it you shot your weapons through your teamate to kill a red, your teammate would be dead too. But in War Robots that happens all the time and no one on the blue team takes a lick of damage.

Yes proximity fuses or timed fuses have been around a long time so have self detonation beyond operational range(works sometimes). What is missing for realism is fusing distance as most weapons would not be fused till they are far enough away to not kill/injure the operator so rockets would not work at point blank.. I don't want that.
My biggest complaints with the rockets are lack of lead on falling/jumping bots and lack of lead on the fusing. Yes modern weapons are easily able to take into account that running gary and set the detonation distance further away based on time of flight and target speed or use a smart projectile that can be updated in flight. A button to disable fusing is also viable requiring you to physically hit the target with the rockets to do damage. It would require more skill from lights instead of just running away, which is lame.

Let's not go into realism debate... How these bots with little nuclear reactors in them not go kaboom when they're brought down is not realistic either.
Waiiiittt... I think that would be a great addition!

I think this thread should be called "NERF THE MEDIUMS AND LIGHTS". Med and Lights don't need a balance against Heavy gameplay. The auto detonate makes for a really strong counter to good cover. Thus, negating the use of over (and evasion when any rockets miss but still count bc of auto detonate).

I think "reach" damage is fair, too. Maybe at a reduced amount dealt? But my OP talks abt auto-detonate. That's all I'm asking to be balanced (turned off).

That's what brought me here talking about auto-detonation. You ranted about non-related material and overlooked how my post clearly illustrates my knowledge of game mechanics. Hence, my request. Also, I'm not talking about splash damage either. Your comment was way in left field man. Last, Lancelot has a wide targeting scope. If you lock, rotate and fire, the rockets will soar to max range. So, rockets are timed and proximity detonated. If someone is corner shooting then splash damage on the wall in front of them should continue to count. But shooting rockets past your target and getting the luxury of auto/proximity detonation is EASY MODE.

Depending on the design destroying the cooling system could stop the reaction or not. Or other safety measures could work like nuclear subs. Whole battlefield wiped? I would think these bots are at least as capable as a M1 tank which can survive an airburst 1MT nuke about a mile away. So whole battlefield wiped? I think not.

I can think of a few situation an auto-detonation would work very well. Since the function of auto detonation is a burst charge, one can lock-on to a target and fire, even if the enemy is behind cover that splash wont pass through but the rocket can pass by the enemy position, bam! some damage by mid-air.
Or for rockets with small AOE, you can airburst it between to enemies for free damage!

No. But activity level certainly is taken into consideration when making judgment calls. You've made 31 posts and look to be spoiling for conflict. Virtually my entire perception of you right now fluctuates between neutral and negative. Some other guy who has 300 or so, 600 or s, whatever... I have a pretty good idea. They may get the benefit of the doubt on something that you wouldn't get on that basis. DOesn't mean anyone gets a "get out of jail free" card for even a million posts, but this job is all about judgment calls.

Also, the reason why people may get breaks if they have a higher post count is because of their past contributions. Think of it this way, if a user has been posting for over a year and has made significant contributions, but slips up once and responds angrily to a troll, we know that he just messed up that once and that he is still a good contributor. But if a new guy comes on, and all he does is harass people and 「dookie」post, then we know that he most likely isn't going to contribute to the community.

Um... there are things like smart grenades, bullets and rockets that detonate at pre-determined ranges. Lol Airburst detonations are often more devastating

No, it is not. Proximity charges detonate at a set distance, from either Target or Trajectory. Furthermore, a shockwave can transduce through material and affect objects beyond. Calling it lack of Skill could be akin to calling your Lack of evasive maneuvers. I'm not trying to argue with you, just trying to show you that you misunderstand the "physical" undertones. You literally don't understand what I'm saying lol. Evasion has nothing to do with being well hidden behind cover. Explosive damage doesn't reach around "invincible" objects. If the proximity damage is dealt on the other side of these objectives, then logically you're safe from sustaining any damage. You don't understand the scenario I keep painting here so you keep arguing an invalid point. No quarrel with you but if you don't understand what someone is saying, then don't go spouting off "information". Shrapnel ricochets around corners & the pressure wave/heat wave from an explosion pushes around corners with force from the pressure of the explosion, cause you know...physics. Not commenting on your hate for splash damage mechanic, just saying that damage isn't always "line of sight"

Love, love, love this game. Really. I've spent a lot of money in support of this game, too. So, I have put my money where my mouth is! Anyways! My rant: Rockets that miss but still detonate, beside my robot, is simply a no-skill oriented game mechanic. Rockets should fly their entire distance then detonate. So, targets 305 meters away would still take AoE damage. When I'm well hidden behind a building or wall and I see rockets blowing up to the right or left of me with no impact, IT'S FRUSTRATING. Also, if rockets hit a wall that has a 90 degree angle from you and no part of your robot is protruding out, then no damage should be sustained. If your robot is behind cover and they hit the terrain that's between you and your opponent, then no damage sustained. That's not just fair and logical but it's also physics. Unless we can start using penetration rounds or bunker busters??! +1 While I agree that the theory of setting fuse on something like a rocket is possible, to do it on the fly in less than 1s is not. On this topic my biggest complaint are Tridents, because I can't see them util I'm getting hit. At Least you can see your about to get hit by a T-buck .
