Crisis/Reaper is a nasty build that erases stuff with no warning and little chance for the victim to react. Rook flies, does damage and applies Suppression with a Hulksmash thing, and can regenerate its shields. But for a company that prides itself on selling broken stuff, refusing to address longstanding player complaints (tankers, MM, et al) it must be getting hard to figure out how to keep turning the bull「dookie」 meter past 11 every month or so.
Which brings us to Newton.
Looking remarkably like the offspring of a drunken lovefest between an AT-ST and ED-209, Newton is set to have a built-in railgun and equip 2 Alphas + 2 Betas. Most amazingly it will have an ability which pulls its enemies out of hiding and throw them into the air at a distance of 600m. Thankfully, if you have a "movement ability" the prey can escape. Sorry, Mars and anyone with older gear, you're 「fluffernutter」ed. They recommend you use Tonans and Fulgur (800m Zeus-like Titan weapons).
Now, like many of us I've been susceptible to my own Chicken Little histrionics over the years when the next example of "「whiskey tango foxtrot」 are they thinking?!?" is proudly announced by Pixonic. Generally, though, after a few weeks of seeing the latest example of fingerpainted-「dookie」-thrown-on-a-canvas-and-displayed-as-a-masterpiece I mull things over and have figured out a way to work around it. Sort of. That ability to find a work-around is getting harder to devise and I'm certain it's by design. My father raised me to never quit so I get pissed off when faced with no-win situations like this. I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I have extreme disdain for the anything that creates a far-beyond absurd level of unfairness in a situation.
I've idly had this thought bubble into my brain over the last few months: "What's going to finally drive me to the 'burn the boats' point with this game?" Three Crisis/Reaper combos on the new Yama map is good at boiling my blood after only a few days. I can't help but wonder if a series of over-the-top deliberate Pixonic releases only designed to make the wallet warriors get their next serotonin suppository and 「fluffernutter」 over everyone else will make me break out the matches and gas and take to the boats.

Like a few of us mentioned last nite in the drops, running out of coffin space for new nails. The rook and reaper menace, now with yam and the phase meta are really pushing folks away.

Please tell me you are kidding?
I mean serious?
You’re lying?

Pix is working laterally. Used to be what works for bots could work for titans, which made sense. MS gravity amp was a hit, so why not put THAT on a bot or titan, but tweak it a bit for excess and spectacle.

It’s all in the picture. Read the “Choke” description. I wish I was kidding. Honestly, they should call it “Skeet” because that’s what it’ll be. They launch mechs into the air then shoot with the Titan Zeus bull「dookie」 guns.

It didn’t take long to realize I needed to stay away from that one.

nothing will surprise me any more in this game. we all recognised the pattern long ago. I only pay enough attention to gain some small understanding of the 'new majiks' that'll soon be comin' at me. Thanks for the heads-up Poopface

After making my three robots, I have long wanted to make a titan, but ideas were not quite coming to me and I did not want to rush them. But, one idea I had for its ability was strikingly similar to the Choke ability on this thing, though I think it is far more fair. My titan would launch a Mars-like probe, and 5 seconds after it lands (it wouldn’t slide like Mars, just land and stick there), robots in a 100 meter radius are EMPed, Locked Down, and launched vertically into the air, with an arc akin to a Spectre or Mercury (the robots with the biggest jumps) jumping vertically into the air. Anticontrol and Immune Amplifier can block the EMP and Lock Down, but not the launch.
I bet my version would have robots in the air for a smaller amount of time and enemies are given 5 seconds (not including seeing the probe get launched and start moving then). Plus, I bet Newton will have a lasting effect radius akin to Gravity Amplifier, not just a single shockwave like mine. If only Pixonic thought more like me…

Poopface - Love the OP. Well put. Thanks for the shout-out link. :-) Man, Crisis/Reaper is soooo PitA. To date. Loki on Yamantau has proven to be a nice counter. "Newton" is in fact interesting, innovative, AND what-the-heck-has-Pix-done-now?!? I finally got a Rook and I haven't leveled it because A: The Legendary Rook is assumed to be released and B: Meh. My spending strategy is still unchanged for the past 4-5 months. Spend little, when I do spend I wait for deeply discounted stuffs, and then I make the most of that stuff (aka run it for a long time.) I'm still running my Morning Crew to surprisingly good effect. Now that being said I will eventually slip into the perpetual 10% win rate and then I'll pull the plug.

Im more concerned about this new mother「dookie」 I've started leveling a second Ravana as a soft counter. Planning on mounting either Ballistas (which suck, but they're the only long long range medium) or railguns to it.
