From the new round of Q&A in the upcoming Progress System. When it launches (no date still) all mechs will standardize and have the same A-Coin rank up costs at the medium mech level. So heavies will get more expensive (and lights cheaper). Only the rank up costs is changing, everything else on upgrades stays the same, so it is worth prioritizing getting any of your heavy mechs to Rank 6 before the new system launches, but you don't need to worry about maxing them.
You can read the other Q&As at:
Main takeaways is that they will probably keep the staggered rollout of new content. Definitely a gacha event first before being able to buy it in-game for AC. Sounds like there will probably also be a delay where it's $ only and maybe some second events, but they were less explicit.
They also said it is possible that folks with higher level hangars will still have to go back and unlock earlier tiers to get new content. But my sense is that probably only applies to newer folks who paid large to rush right to the top meta stuff.

1) Thanks for sharing with the community. Appreciated.
2) The squeeze is on. Not just pay to win but pay to be durable and high energy. Guess it’s always been like that to an extent, but now only more so.
3) Plarium’s changing so much, so often and making me feel like new acquisitions are risky.

I don't know. It has never made sense that heavy mechs are the cheapest to upgrade and light mechs are the most expensive. Most of the worthy mechs are medium anyway. Making everything cost the same would seem fine I think, if light mechs weren't so useless these days.
Of course the new system might totally suck overall. Still, the current system is you can't get anything less than 1.5 years old without spending real money, which is honestly the worst of all possible worlds.

They've already changed the costs. Now heavy, medium, and light mechs all cost the same to upgrade.

The b*stards, I didn't even have time to upgrade my Panther § 😡 I think I'll just let it linger at 24 EN and permanently assign him to carry my RM12.
Apparently the heavy mechs price change was temporary, and now it's back to the 2.28 pre-update price. Needless to say, I immediately upgraded to 28 EN. Lesson learned.
Also there's news of the MR8's cost shifting from 300k credits to... 3k a-coins 🤡

It was temporary!?! I'd celebrate but I upgraded my Gatecrasher while the price was jacked up (I didn't really notice until after). I just contacted support. Let's see if I can get the difference returned.

So is the cost of upgrading heavies going up? Should I upgrade or max my heavy mechs now? I have a lot of mechs at rank 5 level 7.

Yeah, it's going up, supposedly with the update launching new Progress System. All mechs' A-Coin upgrade costs will be the same and set at what currently are medium mech costs. So heavies are going up and lights are coming down. To take a 5.7 heavy up to 6.1 will cost 950 A-Coins more (currently 1875, new price will be 2825) so I'd upgrade them now.

So...another question. Looks like their definition of Light/Medium/Heavy is based on max EN capacity. So, that means basically the 32EN Attacher mechs will go up in cost but the Stalker will stay the same. Bastion, by that logic, even though it's got almost 400k HP when maxed is still technically a Medium mech.

That's how the've always defined it. Question for you as our resident Paragon expert. Mine is parked at 5.7. I was getting close to marching it up to max before the rebalance hit with 1.25M credits being the main factor holding it up. I know you've taken yours out of the main rotation these days but does it still have any worth as a fun mech for CPC or some other game mode? If I am going to take it up to 6.1 to eventually max, it seems like now is the time, but I am already being forced to shelve my planned upgrades for my Gatecrasher and possibly Onyx. Any recommendation?

Let's see if I can get the difference returned. Yes apparently the change wasn't ready for a definitive implementation just yet. But the writing's on the wall... Hopefully the support will refund you the excess A-Coins 🙏

Any recommendation? I'm a bit conflicted on the Paragon. On the one hand, I'm still mad that it got nerfed so hard - I'm sure Lancer enthusiasts are the same. On the other hand, does it really make a difference in this one-shot-kill meta we're in? I took the Paragon out because I'd decided to work on Gatecrasher as my new DL16 mech but I was still running it because it still worked in CPC games as well as some maps in TDM. However, now that I've cloned my JR12, I've gone back to running KS as my first mech out in CPC games. In FFA, I'll also take out the Paragon again for certain maps but it's not because of the mech, but rather it's ability to hold both DL16s. If I'd gone the DL12 Stalker route, I doubt I would be such an enthusiast for the Paragon. I remember my decision to max my Paragon was not based on the mech perse, but rather it's 32EN max capacity. So, in your case, you should think about what you intend to run on it. It still works decent as a RM12 mech for TDM. But, if they continue to give us tiny 2v2 maps for TTDM, then I would not run RM12 on Paragon much less run the mech itself. It can serve as a decent JR12 or JR16 platform though, so if that's your plan or you have the JR16 cloned and need a 32EN mech, then I'd say go for it. Today's meta is such that even if I'm exposed to minigun or CB fire for like a second or two, my 218k HP Surge will lose a healthy chunk of HP. Imagine what that would do to a 100k HP Paragon? If you do run Paragon, I think the only weapons that would do well are: RMs, JRs and DLs. Missile weapons might work but they require some degree of exposure so they are very high risk. LOS weapons...forget it. Speaking of HP, don't forget that a maxed Bastion has almost 400k HP!
