Anyone else digging the new maps?
They’re interesting and I like them, although I wonder why you have to march so far from the spawn point to the action in the tourney match. Takes forever in the tanks.

My fun won't last long, but I've been using the side hallway to catch red bots with their circuit boards down around their ankle joints. I have yet to run into any opposition AI or otherwise. Dash down the hall with my Surge, wait for recharge, and jump out blasting away.

Takes forever in the tanks. I have played 1 game cpc, and one tournament map yesterday, and they definitely favor long range weapons or fast moving mech's. I like the feel of these, and they are well thought out....it is almost time to check out todays map.

Today's TDM map seems to favour snipers and bold fast moving mechs. One centre sniper on one side and everyone else running for cover and it becomes hide and seek. Just had a match with one guy, I was in my RM12 KS at first cause I wanted to test out RM feasibility on this map. Lost the first round cause of the centre sniper. So, next round, I just waited for him to pop his head and counter sniped him. Third round, he didn't learn and again, I sniped both his sniper mechs. Sheesh...lol. In the last seconds of the game, I saw him trying to rush me down one side with a Guardian. Time ran out otherwise I would have sniped that one too. lol. So, today's map does favour snipers, but there's a cool underground area with lots of twists and turns where Zeps and Surges would rule. Other mechs can also use that for cover from the snipers to force them to come out or abandon their mechs.
As for RM12, more and more I feel like it's a dead cause. They certainly haven't fixed the supposed bug yet.

Didn't do tourney yesterday, but I liked today's map. Interesting and complex sniper map. It's overall good for sniping but with all that cover it is easy to get stymied on available targets. I think the side with the ramp might actually be a better sniper spot for hitting targets than the spawn but you're more vulnerable there too. Tried to use DLs a bit. Feel like they should have some good potential but needs figuring out.
I like the CPC map. Seems to actually favor AI taking the sides and not the center. Second game both teams had switched sides and were only controlling the spots by the other's spawn. Way more fluid than some maps.
Don't like the Colonnade redesign as much. It's not bad but I liked the old map better. Maybe I just have to get used to it. Definitely looks cool though.

Yeah, today's map is pretty cool. I think I'm goona try some Custom games to see if I can walk around and explore a bit more. Today, I tried JR KS at first cause I wanted to see if it would work, but the abundance of short cover makes this very challenging, especially since I have to dodge snipers and brawlers. Hopped into the EM16 Panther and did much better but again the abundance of cover in the middle spoiled a lot of shots. RG16 Guardian should theoretically done better but I was having an off day this morning and missed most of my shots.

Koalabear - That's interesting, when I was exploring the map in custom I thought Javs might dominate on that map. Definitely fun exploring it with Lancer. You can get on the suspended platform in the middle and the crane above it's tethered to. Have a feeling we'll see some Lancer EMR8s trying to make it work on that map. I tried several sniper spots but one seemed to really rack up the kills for a Panther. That's on the side in the elevated and covered little hallway. It also has that concrete barrier at its mouth. Right at the start you can clip the first wave of bots going down into the pit from there, then work the hallway with the Panther fence, and back out to the concrete if needed, especially near the end when there are only a couple opponents left. Can't hit jack on the opposite side but it seems to offer the most target opportunities. Downside is enemy bots come up the ramp and snipe down from the opposite opening, but that also means a steady stream of targets come to you. BTW - is it just me or has anyone else kinda been thrown by the little trees with the golden leaves? I'll see them out of the corner of my eye and keep thinking they are a mech for a moment. Not on today's map, but some of the others they keep startling me.

S1E1 Yep, that's where I just spent several games racking up the kills. What makes it interesting is the ramps that meet in the middle of that hallway. If you had someone covering your butt, you and your team mate can really rack up the kills there.

Just had a match where the red dude racked up 44 kills with EMRs. Insane. 🙄
It was a matchmaker determined loss for him, but he still racked up over 700 tourney points to my 234.
