Pixonic just released a major article about the drone rebalance, which contains lots of details regarding the new functions of drones and the new upgrade system. I will summarize the most important details here, but feel free to read the while article here: warrobots.com/en/posts/364
How Drones will be Upgraded
Drones will now be upgraded using a new microchip currency (it has the same name as the current microchips). Drones will have their main ability available by default, but it starts weak and will get stronger as the drone is leveled up. Additionally the drone unlocks secondary abilities at levels 4, 9, and 12. The amount of levels, abilities, and upgrade cost a drone has depends on tier:
Tier 1 drone – 3 levels, 1 ability - 100 Microchips per upgrade
Tier 2 drone – 6 levels, 2 abilities - 390 Microchips per upgrade
Tier 3 drone – 9 levels, 3 abilities - 730 Microchips per upgrade
Tier 4 drone – 12 levels, 4 abilities - 1000 Microchips per upgrade + 1 upgrade token (dorito chip) to reach max level
Conversation Rate Between old and new Microchips
In addition the rates listed below, Pixonic has placed additional parameters on the conversion. There is a maximum of 5000 microchips award, meaning that if you have more old microchips to be converted after this limit is reached, they will not be accounted for. However, if you reach this limit, you will be given a tier 4 Daltokki drone. Additionally, for every 2500 new microchips, you also get an upgrade token (dorito chip), and this extends beyond the 5000 microchip limit. Lastly, all players with an account level of 27+ will receive a tier 4 Barrel drone, an upgrade token, and additional microchips, regardless of how many microchips they have. Here are the conversation rates between old and new microchips:
Tier 1 chip = 0.1 Microchips
Tier 2 chip = 2 Microchips
Tier 3 chip = 20 Microchips
Tier 4 chip = 100 Microchips
New Drone Tier System
The tiers of drones will be rearranged for the update. Here are the new tiers:
Tier 1: Starter, Sidekick, Fly, Defender
Tier 2: Sharpshooter, Discus, Good Guy
Tier 3: Eye, Nebula, Wasp, Glider, Octanian, Persephone, Paralysis, Beak, Ironhearth, Armadillo, Whiteout, Patron
Tier 4: Barrel, Reviver, Daltokki
Additional Details
Drones will now be assigned to robots inside the hangar, as opposed to being selected within battle. This means that there will no longer be a second screen during robot deployment. Also, Pixonic has reworked the profile screen so you now see what drones people use with each robot (displayed next to the pilot). It is currently unknown if the same drone can be assigned to multiple robots or not, and what sort of menu there will be (if there is one) for seeing all drones at once.
Pixonic has not released the exact stats of every rebalanced drone, making this the only major detail we are still unsure about. But, at least we have the majority of the picture now!
