I've thought about starting this thread before and even taken some screenshots, but then I held off because I am not a big fan of publicly shaming folks. But the tankers in tournament are getting bolder and I'm tired of it. Frankly there are so few of them while the rest of us all equip the best hangar and play honest. So screw it, I'm starting this thread. Tournament only and where it is obvious they are trying tank their sp to avoid opponents in their actual weight class. CPC doesn't count since so many times folks are trying out their newer gear while also having some maxed out stuff in the mix. Here's the guy today who finally tipped me over. All maxed mechs, weapons, pilots and implants. Only legendary pilots and gold implants. But then you can see the L2 MD with no pilot and only an Auto Cannon 2. Oh and apparently he's "35" on player activity (actually seems like a bit of a theme with the few tankers out there). Laaaaammmeeee...
 And then earlier in the week there was this dude who was actually running a weaponless Juggy (but hey at least he had a pilot equipped). I checked back later on while while he was still playing FFA and his hangar hadn't changed so it wasn't a mistake. This is what I mean by getting bolder. It used to be you see tourney tankers with an L3 mech or two so it wasn't as easy to tell if they were tanking or just had concentrated on levelling up certain mechs first. Now it's this b.s.  I don't imagine posting this here will change anything but it does make me feel a bit better. Truthfully, I see so few players doing this. Mech Arena might not be perfect on balance but it is a lot better than War Robots ever was. Which is why so many of us like it. It's annoying to see people bring this War Robots douchery to the game... |

I don't see any problem with the first 2 players you screencapped. Actually I will do exactly the same if I ever find the will to waste 650 A-coins just to be allowed to play FFA.
Plarium forces players to have a 5 mech hangar for absolutely no reason ? Fine, then that useless 5th mech will be junk.

Admittedly they are clubbing large adult seals, but they are making sure they have more firepower on those 4 mechs than any human players they get matched against. So they'll take 1st place and the bigger reward. They also can go after the human players and crush them. Not all FFA tankers are trying to do the second part, but some of them seem to like going after humans as much as possible. They are also trying to draw weaker AI I think, although I don't know how much weaker the AI is at that level than in the upper 6000s and low 7000s where they should be playing. The guy in the second post with the 4 really weak mechs is going for weaker AI way more than humans I'd imagine. The two in the first post are more about beating human players I think. Either way, they are also hacking matchmaker to allow them to get more tournament points and beat out all the other human players who are playing honest hangars. I get the point about being forced to get another mech. It sucks you're shut out of tournament every second week. But I think this matchmaker vulnerability is why they did that. If you could play with 4 mechs, you'd probably be getting clubbed senseless by guys running maxed EMR12 Redeemers. That also means they saw this problem coming and just let it happen. Plarium really screwed the pooch on FFA, I swear. |

I don't like ffa so I didnt play tournament this past week. But but I do play 5v5 tournament and it is broken imho. So I play one or two matches to get the minimum rewards usually. I spam MR12s because it is so broken, or I use whatever is in the Specialization event or other events. I also like to use sniper weapons. And when you group up in tournament ladders with wallet warriors or newbies who score 500+ points easily per match, I can't see the huge harm in reducing your SP. The tournament mode is inherently unfair so just do what you can to even it out. That's my two cents.  |
