Plarium keeps releasing new mechs and weapons at an alarming rate.
Bastion is the new Arès. It's better in every way : bigger HP, and a bigger shield that is now reactive instead of being completely passive. If coupled with MVP Neymar, this should make for a very useable mech on the field, thanks to his speed perk.
As for the new grenade weapon ("Nade"), it's interesting. I'm waiting for the Mayer and Scape211 video releases to see how practical it is.

Plarium keeps releasing new mechs and weapons at an alarming rate. Agreed. Has the power creep started? Dunno, but those EMRs sometimes make LAs and RGs seem like an unnecessary investment. That feels like power creep.

Agreed. Has the power creep started? Dunno, but those EMRs sometimes make LAs and RGs seem like an unnecessary investment. That feels like power creep. I think this new release confirms the power creep, that's spreading from weapons to mechs. There's still a case to be made for the LAs and their repeat fire capability, but the RG is definitely outclassed. I don't think anyone but the least informed players intends to get the RG nowadays. And now we have a new mech which is a 1:1 replacement for Arès. I think this is unprecedented. Previous releases such as Aegis were suitable alternatives, yet were different enough to leave Arès some room for existence. But since Bastion's announcement, it has become a no-brainer as to which mech is better.

Hi, since our forum was initially and is primarily for War Robots, the way we keep clarity is members posting about Mech Arena in their designated section need to include MA in the title of their thread. The reason is the most common navigation tool used here is the Recent thread option, and if you don’t have MA people wont know it isn’t War Robots. Thx

Panther with DL12s will take out Bastion no problem. And my current mechs will deal with the new stuff fine. That being said I will get Bastion and grenade launcher when it gets cheap. I like it as a cool tank. 😎 I am limiting my spending so it might take awhile. I think India Waale has a decent test server video on it.

Okay, Mayer has released a gameplay video of the bot :
A useful reminder in the video's comments is that Guardian should be able to painlessly cancel Bastion's shield.
I really gotta try runnin Guardian again, with a Neymar. I hate slow mechs but here again, the Brazilian might save the day. It could end up being a good combo to cancel the advantages of all these new, fancy paywalled mechs. And the legendary EMP distance implant I received ages ago might finally be put to good use...
There's also an interesting comment from Mayer about the new weapon :

So the stats are 182,400HP with shields, 142,400 without. Makes it the toughest mech (Juggs and Aegis in comparison are next with 128,200 and Juggs with shields is only 154,800HP). Speed is same as Ares at 18 km/h. Ability recharge is 16 seconds but a maxed gold cooldown implant gets it down to 10. Shield blast range and damage aren't listed. And how does the EMP debuff work - it resets the ability on the enemy mech like in Guardian or it unfreezes Bastion if the explosion goes off? Overall yeah, seems like it's Ares replacement and another correction against the current EMP meta along with Redeemer.
Honestly power creep is just constant in this game (and I imagine all games like this). And then it has some milestone moments. When Railguns came out that was definitely one. Then Disc Launchers, then EM Rifles. It is still possible to catch up and stay pretty current with the meta with some lower end spending (given you can't get new gear otherwise) but you definitely got to grind a lot. Otherwise it's spend, spend, spend! :-P
