i used to pilot a griffin like you're talking about all the time. i always finished high in the damage rankings and consistently got 1 or 2 kills per match. the secret to using that roof is watch you're blues and fire on their targets. especially watch the blues going for those side beacons. also there's a secret to using those griffins fit like that to avoid walls while firing on "hiding" reds and that game mechanic works better from that roof. I guess you can do decent damage if you are good. But you are totally relying on your teammates to capture beacons. So if your teammates are not playing half decent, you are not going to win if you stay there. Also, if you stay there, you will be largely ignored by the red team and your teammates will take all the heat. Again, if your teammates aren't that good, they will be destroyed rather quickly. If you are down on the ground with your teammates going for beacons, you will be a threat to the red team. They will target you as well as your teammates thereby forcing them to split their attention. Damage and kills alone don't win the game. My team usually win when I see Hydra Griffin camping on the roof (as the videos I posted) because all the reds I need to focus are the ones on the ground. |

Yeah you can see in my video that those shooting at Hydra Griffin on the roof are my team's snipers. I personally don't bother fighting Hydra Griffins as they are not much of a threat. I just do what I usually do: get beacons (usually side beacon on Shenzhen) and move the frontline forward so that my teammates can move in and get the center beacon. Sometimes they move in, sometimes they don't. But either way, I try to make sure my team has more beacons than the red team at any given time. I think half decent knifers are like me and don't bother with Hydra Griffins until late in the game. |

I've actually managed to jump from the Yellow star area onto the skyscrapers that are next to it. I died pretty quickly as the entire Red team saw me do it and decided I needed to die. But by the time they got in range to kill me, my team had 4 beacons.

Thank lord Chthulhu I'm past that plague. Yes, as tragic as it is, I was a Natasha Zenit. Then I discovered the magical world of a decent Schutze KWK bot. Not only can you draw the enemy fire away while pelting them with shots, you can actually capture beacons and help the team. I feel Schutze is a pretty underated supporter, and I'll remain loyal to it until I inevitably reach gold tier and get my 「bum-bum」 handed too me.

You went from "persona non grata" to "persona causing groans." If you insist on throwing a mid-to-long range weapon on there then a Zeus or Trident is highly preferable. |

True, but I'm working with what I have at the moment. I'm saving for Zeus, which I'll use for a speedy support Schutze. Until then, I have a KWK Schutze.

...and yet, even with bugs it's a fave of some Top players, like petevb. High damage, lock, and fast reload make it brutal.

It is just possibly worth getting one or two orkans before your 'fifth' slot. I wouldn't get anything else before 5 slots though. |

It's such a ridiculously high priority that there are several threads upon threads here in the forums explaining ad nauseum why. If nothing else, just duplicate one of your other bots for that 4th slot, then save like crazy for the 5th. Personally, I think that 5th slot might be the only thing worth spending money on, and I know I'm not alone here. |

With 5 slots I will still Mech out about 1 in 4 battles. There are few that I don't make it to at least the 4th bot - usually because I stupidly stick to my RDB griffin too long and end up not getting enough damage to make a difference.

Slots are mission critical. More slots should be about your highest priority. The difference between 3 and 4, or preferably 5 slots is directly tied to both flexibility and more importantly (at least to me) the ability to be more aggressive, which translates to pressure. Matches are sometimes decided purely by who mechs out first. |
