So we've got a thread for maxed gear and one for winning implants, seemed like one for when you get the top prizes in Research Events would be good too. Unfortunately my screenshot buttons have gone all wonky, so only managed this shot of the pilot thru my in-phone menu later. I'd been saving all kinds of crates and A-Coin event rewards for over a month. Still can't believe I got the top spot with the 3-Star version of this guy. He's only my third Legendary pilot, I am pretty psyched. Was hella nerve-wracking going for it at the end there and then hoping no one caught up.

Great job - I tried to win and entered less than 2 minutes but that wasn't so helpful.
Missed by a large margin on my main account, and got 4th spot out of 4 (lol) on my newb account. Missed by a 100 points or so. Pretty pissed about that.

Took top place. The season pass came in very handy. I had 110+ gold crates hoarded and only bought the 500 acoins/platinum crate deal to give me some cushion.  |

Generally I aim for getting on the leaderboard in the morning of the day the task will end. I still wait to go for it right at the end, but that bracket doesn't seem too bad. |

Got first! 1500 A-Coins hooray! Had a bit of a grind off with the guy in 2nd but I had been holding onto a couple of upgrades to spend my A-Coins in the last minute, so I took it by a nice margin.  |

I snagged first and got the new leg pilot Fashion Disaster! (ahem, I mean Diesel) Also 5,000 Pilot Marks and 30k in scrap! I am so stoked!! I was stalking this one all week. Had a big pile of silver and gold crates and just hovered between 3rd and 5th until the last 10 minutes when I cashed them in. The guy who was in 1st didn't log on until the last minute or so. I kept checking but he didn't seem to move, but the after event ended he'd jumped up 4,000 points. Not enough to get him first, but a good lesson that you won't see all the last minute points added until the post-event tally. I don't know if it makes me seem smart or just completely nuts that I now set an alarm on my phone to go off 10 minutes before these events end, but it definitely helps get results. |

Top guy in mine had over 47000 points at mid day, never mind the last 10 minutes. I had far, far less. So I just let it go and played for tasks.  |

Managed to get 3rd. Free is exactly the price I wanted to pay for an Onyx. It seems fun for shooting around cover various ways but that's about all. But I'm psyched I made the cut!

Managed 1st for the gold Frag Gun damage and range implants. Frankly I imagine it'll only be worthwhile if they release a FG12 (knock on wood). My feeling is they are going to slow walk their way up the tiers for new content now that they have rebalanced everything and that we won't see an epic or legendary shotgun replacement for quite some time. If I'm right, and if a FG12 does come out, these implants should come in handy.

Snagged 1st! Burned through a lot of credits taking my MR12 from 6.2 to 6.6, and my Paragon from 5.7 to max. Burned some more A-Coins buying bps and taking my Gatecrasher from 5.4 to 6.1. But between the A-Coins earned from the event, and the ones saved from ranking up my heavy mechs before the cost increase, it all seems worthwhile.
Interestingly none of the guys in the top four even logged on before the event ended. The guy who ultimately got 2nd, started just ahead of me in 5th place then jumped into 1st with about 7 minutes left. Because I had calculated my different options ahead of time, I could wait til the last 45 seconds to do my final Paragon upgrades and grab 1st. I also knew (having learned the hard way before) that there is a lag on showing the point changes from other players during the last minute. I imagine it didn't tell him he'd dropped to 2nd until after the event ended. It's a nasty little trick, but it gets the job done, so definitely make use of it.  |

Wow, well done ! You had a lot of A-coins in reserve I'm guessing. I entered the fray 20 minutes before the end, but had only 100 A-coins in my mailbox, so I barely ended at the 10th spot 😰 Yeah, I had 2800 I think saved up. It has been forever since I've seen a "Get A-Coins" task in these events. I almost gave up on even saving them. Also I did the Vault Blitz 15 minutes before the end and that netted me about 2200 A-Coins too. Mostly of the points were from the Impulse event where it took until the 3rd last pull. What do the scores look like if you wait to get on the leaderboard until there is just 20 minutes left? I had heard right at the end was similar to right at the beginning with really high scores. Is that not the case? I try to wait until the morning of if I can, but it's hard to do these days. This one I got on a bit after the previous midnight. Trying to figure out the optimal time though morning of, night before and even 2 days before seem to work well, though it is good to wait until it seems like few people are logged on. |

Is that not the case? From my empirical experience, it depends on the specific event and the precise timing. Earlier, when I tried to enter just 3 minutes before the end, that was toast : I was lumped in with the high scores. I think the same happened when I entered about 10 minutes prior. So maybe between 1h and 30 minutes prior is the sweet spot. To be confirmed. But it's also event depdent : there'll be more competition, and thus more activity, for a sought after pilot - as opposed to some underpowered weapon like the NL6 we had a few days/weeks ago. |
