It's official. A new game from Pixonic, "War Robots Frontiers". Watch the below video. I'm not going to lie, it basically looks like a copy of Mech Arena. Is it possible they will stop updating War Robots? Maybe we will all finally get the wish we asked for, they will give us a break, but not in the way that we thought.
They have said they will still keep War Robots going, but I doubt that. Once this new game gets popular among whales, and they make stacks of £££, the OG War Robots will be completely forgotten.

Gosh that does look like MA! Not impressed by the development of Hunting Grounds - walking backwards shooting cr@p - even if I get to use my hangar - is not my idea of fun. "And it was a success!" Yeah, just lolz.

As much as you want War Robots to die, I would not say that quite yet. Making a spin-off game (not a direct sequel) with the intention of abandoning the main game is kinda rare in the mobile game market, as it means the company is loosing out of potential profit from supporting the already-existing game. Also, this is not the first time Pixonic has done something like this, as they did make Dino Squad a while back, a game which also got some speculation, only for it to die off and War Robots outlive it. I’m not pretending to know what will happen, as maybe this is the grand plan, but I definitely would not assume the worst right off the bat.
Edit: I just watched the video for myself, and well, Frontiers is gonna be a PC and console game, not a mobile game. So yeah, that just makes me believe my initial point even more. I think this game is meant to coexist with the original and expand the brand, not replace the original as a reboot or anything like that.

Looks cool. Like a mash up of war robots and mech arena. Had my hopes up first when I heard frontier that it would be like the old walking war robots. Was thinking oh yeah boy. Only to be semi disappointed. Been actively looking for a replacement for war robots. I want something immersive and addicting, but not unbalanced. Been spending between 40 and 80 bucks a month only to still fall behind. Which I feel is stupid. I have no issue spending for a game I play everyday, but this is getting ridiculous. Things should not completely outclass what has come before them. IMHO ymmv.

The same thing will probably happen again.

Funny how every clip of the PvE showed the unending backwards movement.

They will not be able to get away with lag on a console game like they can on the mobile game. If they have not addressed the lag, they've already lost.

It appears that the current game will be funding the new game. DLC packs are on the horizon.

So the company that can't stop hackers using PCs on its current game is going to ask you to pay for the experience of even more PC players. Hmmmmmm.

They are also introducing it on Steam… No chance of anyone being able to exploit this platform.

Pixonic has a big share of the robot shooter scene on mobile because they were early to the party and the production quality of War Robots really has yet to be matched. But on console and PC, not only will they be dealing with more hardcore gamers that will push the game way more than the mobile audience, but they will also be on the turf of games like Fortnite, Valorant, and Overwatch. If Pixonic wants War Robots Frontiers to succeed, especially to the point of being able to fully replace the current War Robots, they will need to craft one heck of a game, which given their traditional output, I am doubtful they can.

I love how a 4:41 he says " we keep increasing features for P2P fans as well".. And there you have it from the head Dev himself. War Robots is Pay to Play.
My take on this is they have destroyed the OG. Think going to a Console version is going to save them and since the mass exodus of War Robots they are gonna turn it into a game where you just shoot AI stuff cause there isn't gonna be enough player base left for 6v6...
As long as these Devs take no interest in actually playing the game they design I only see this getting worse till one day when we log in and the game is no more.

Nothing lasts forever, so that stands to reason. The only question remaining is how much money do you spend on it to get "your money's worth"? it is now clear to me that I've spent enough and that spending more is not in my best interests.

They cant even make War Robots functional, so why would I bother getting addicted to another one of their dysfunctional productions. I wont keep popping in to be a broken record, but seeing this just reaffirms to me they dont give a 「dookie」 about quality if they disperse their resources and staff to make other games. What a 「fluffernutter」ing joke. The real end of the game is when, like me, you stop buying into their bull「dookie」 and spend your time playing games that actually work!

The real end of the game is when, like me, you stop buying into their bull「dookie」 and spend your time playing games that actually work! Which is why I've started playing World of Robots: PvP Online. It's certainly not perfect, needs a little more diversity, and still has issues but considering it's only a year old and has been hampered by trade embargoes vs Russia, I'm happy with what it is so far. It doesn't appear to be P2W yet, has some interesting wrinkles (clan warfare, for one), and feels a lot like early days Walking War Robots.
I like it better than any of the War Robots alternatives I've tried and perhaps most importantly isn't grossly broken from an imbalance standpoint, isn't broken in that mechs+weapons don't seem to be set up to piss people off, isn't P2W. All the things in War Robots that people seem to be most unhappy about aren't obviously in that game.
And that's good enough for me. For now.

Console simply doesn't have the sheer numbers, if not the pockets and the willingness to dump money, that mobile players have. So War Robots mobile will still be the bigger money earner. The console version is just desert after the main course. A good example of this economics is Mihoyo, now Hoyoverse. Despite having PC and console versions, with a PS5 optimized version to boot, Genshin Impact still makes the most out from mobile.

I won't say the game is migrating towards a Mech Arena style. To me, Mech Arena is Overwatch with mechs, rather than Mechwarrior. War Robots has originally, and initially started out as a World of Tanks with robot legs game, hence the allusion to real life war machines on the original War Robots with nationalities like Russian, German and American. Then somewhere along, it gradually, subtly, but gradually, began the creep towards more of an Overwatch style of game. War Robots Frontiers is completing this transformation.

The new War Robots will be running on "Unreal Engine", it should have active anti-cheat as the owners of that company do not condone hackers and Pixonic will be beholden to them to insure it is implemented as all other games running whatever their latest version of software uses do. Pixonic LOVES money & I doubt the new owners would want to be sued into oblivion after recently investing money into this new venture.

Matches like this are what is killing this game for me. I don't really care anymore about points or anything else but this kind of match just sucks even the last remaining iota of fun out of the game. Honestly, is it really any fun for this TOOL to run hanger like that? Just idiotic.

Jeez, bet they had a selection of 「illegitimate child」 pilots and 「illegitimate child」 drones to go with it, so they are basically only vulnerable for 5 seconds coz of stealth and the purple shield. I usually just quit if there is a serious stomping happening and its clearly someone who has bought power. Start a new game and go again. They are really dumbing this game down with each new update, push the magic button and steer into the enemy, zero skill needed.

I sort of got a burr under my saddle with this guy and went after him. I had not seen a ton of Anglers at this point but this guy certainly handed me a beat down. Just stupid.
You'll note as well the guy from CHN on my team. Even the Blues are filled with cheats.
I REALLY try not to quit games (stubborn) but it is really becoming harder and harder to stick around for this kind of douche baggery.

Honestly not surprised about duplicate hangers, this has been going on for ages every time something broken or no skill has been added to the game. Broken items can be fixed, they are a pain for a while then Pixonic balances them to be effective but not broken or nerfs them into the ground. No skill items should not be in the game PERIOD (looks at any auto-tracking weapon without lock on timer).
Weapons/skills shooting though shields and obstacles need fixed immediately, legalized hacking needs removed (i.e. skill sets that actually break game play like speed skills on speed pilot for Seraph). Jaw, Claw, Talon...once again nice concept to add upper tier to the Aphid series is a no skill auto-tracking weapon that shows clear greed on Pixonics part knowing full well how the majority of the player base HATES no skill items. The cooldown on Angler ability is a joke and they know full well.
Durability extender also is a broken item/sponsored hack. High damage low health bots exist the way they were built for a reason. When you are smashing a fragile bot repeatedly & the health bar hardly moves because it has been extended so much is just asinine as that fragile bot takes down tank after tank and titan after titan.

A fine example why noobies get discouraged, rage quit, and the game doesn't grow. You have Golden Turd Award winning squads like this roaming the lower leagues. I know Champs and even Champ squads who would have a hard time taking this trio out, let alone someone lesser than me with my same equips (I made Champs on a full Mk1 hanger, not even maxed Mk1).
