I have a few different radiation weapons. Oddly when scoping legend hangars I rarely see them being used. But you see indra & mars bots. So you know they won some. But choose not to use them. Why do you think that is?

@battleangel Adrian was commenting on how they are inconvenient (too many purple shields popping up all the time.)

That’s for sure. I’ve definitely noticed this.

@battleangel Adrian was commenting on how they are inconvenient (too many purple shields popping up all the time.) I was feeling a bit frustrated on this recently while using rad Phantom and rad Ares. The most optimal use for rad are mechs that have a shieldbreaking pilot (Siren, Harpy, Fafnir). I run them on Belov Faf and get living legends with it. Worth saying that I dont personally see the value in scoping LL hangars, as I dont see them as a benchmark for success, and I certainly aint going to be investing in doubles and triples of the latest bull「dookie」 only to sell several a few months along. The reason rads appear less in LL is they are not as efficient as the current top choice meta weapons, which LL players will have a ton of, such as three Khepris mostly loaded with Cudgels, and several Seraphs with Punchers Punchers Punchers.

not to mention their targeting it atrocious. many times i am aiming right at a target, and i see it literally go just to the side, as if it slid off them.

I just sometimes look to see what's being used in high levels. Not to fill my hangar with all of the same like that. But sometimes to see if spending silver/gold resources to level something up is going to be useful or not the higher in league you climb.

I love them on Mender and other pop and shoot bots. Pretty good at taking down bendie birds out of their range. I find the targeting pretty good actually. I don’t like them as much as fainters on my Harpy (still run a decay because no heavy fainter yet) and running the shieldbreaker Yang Lee, so a deadly combo at that range and great against Mars.

Very fun on Hover.Use ability to change line of site on target. Great at 300m plus.

A bit obnoxious for in-close fighting, but I don’t even mind shooting reflective stuff since I can just heal the grey damage right away.

Exactly why it is such a perfect bird hunter (Harpy, Siren, Hawk, Seraph). Zero consequence for Mender to take those things out. Those are my main target for every match. Free charging for the nuc amp and repair amp while staying safely out of range of the real danger (bendy bullets). I’m usually at full health again once the nuc amp and repair amp are charged up, and then Mender is as lethal a killer as a healer. I run Beak, so the damage becomes pretty nasty.

If someone is game to help me test it, I actually have a theory that you do more overall DPS shooting at the shields with radiation weapons. Long story short, I think shooting at the shields has the max chance of dumping your reload time during the shield time, so more DPS hits the target if you don't lift up your finger. But I don't have an second account to test/record with.
There are a few reasons why that might not be true, the big one being that allegedly the third shot hits hardest? But even then, I'm not convinced it hits harder than the first two combined, such that saving shot #3 justifies not shooting.
So yada yada yada, part of the reason people might not be enjoying the damage because of the shields is that they're following the targeting advice we had for continuous-reload weapons with 10 second full reloads, not fixed reload weapons with 3 second reloads.

I keep my finger on the shiny red button full time and I’ve had 10M+ games running only Mender. But I also know a good chunk of that is laying down lots of healing. I’d be willing to test your theory though. I have any bot or weapon you’d want to test. PM me and we can custom match some test battles. Could use either my Discord or NEXT to chat about what you want to do.
